  • This week we tried building corrals, got distracted by a truck project, came back the following weekend to finish up. Our 360 degree swinging gate idea failed - oh well - but we continue to slowly push ahead. We are finally ready to start back with our favorite task - digging post holes!
If someone else knows how to build a 360 degree swinging gate - please let us know in the comments below.

If those hinges get bent. Use 1/2 x 4 strap or weld straps on both sides.

I think (?), If you welded the collars (the ones with the zerk fittings) to the gate. The collar on the post should turn freely... Maybe ? But I've got Drain Bandage so what the heck do I know, lol 🤪
Ps... I just saw your answer to another post... Please ignore my brain fart 🥴

We appreciate the advice! I think there will have to be a part 2 to this video, taking another swing (pun intended) at the hinge design.

Maybe I'm missing something but if you just welded the square plate steel directly from the 1&7/8" pipe on the gate to the 2&7/8" collar that rotates around the 2&3/8" upright you easily have a rotating gate. I've built a bunch of them. But then again, I may be missing something.

It seemed like it should have worked, but when the gate was hanging it would drop about 8” on the far side and bind.

Where can I get one of those hats? I would prefer to own the brand but will settle for a hat

Why would you use 2 hinges with that thin bracket between them?
The gate welded straight to the collars that were around the post should have worked just fine.
If I was seeing what I thought I was seeing.

In theory, that would give us a gate that would swing all the way around and fold flat against either side of the fence. Without the second hinge, it won't.

@@FarmandRanchHacks if you need that extra space weld a another tube from the top hinge to the bottom hinge inbetween where the spacing bracket was.

I think you may have just solved our problem.

Lol - I did the exact same thing on our gate last weekend. Zoop and I came to the same conclusion - have to tie the upper and lower hinges together. we set the hinges out at a 45 deg so the gate folds flat on one side.

We are gonna take another run at it soon - think we can put a piece of pipe between them and it will work.

I must not be getting the point of this video. The way I made 360 degree gates is to simply install a 3 inch pipe and then weld a band in two [places, build two strap hinges and set the gate down on the post.
