      @@jonaedorsey4611 Where I'm at, and depending on the school, you have to have a bachelors in Radiography Technology before receiving specialty training in other diagnostic imagery which sonography would fall under. So I have to go through my paces as an X-ray tech before moving on to sonography.

    Thank you for the video! this was very helpful. I'm working on my DMS application and I was wondering about the pathways if I had to work on all the credentials possible or what. I am really interested in vascular and echo, but I'm sure the clinical experience will help me decide which one I'll choose. I recently completed a certification in Sterile Processing, and the clinical hours were interesting, it really gives you a perspective of what the job will be like.

    Great information, you have so much knowledge in your head and you're so kind for sharing it. You speak so quickly and I know that I am not listening too slow. I really wish that you could've slowed down a little bit more while sharing your knowledge because I would've been able to hear it better and retain more of what you said. Thanks.

    Thanks Kristy for posting your videos! They've really helped me figure out which career path to take. Currently, I am trying to meet some pre-requisite courses needed for the program I want to apply for, and then next spring I'll apply for an AAS in DMS at University of Anchorage Alaska. So wish me luck! I really want to get accepted... any other words of wisdom on how to stand out against competition? About 6-8 students get accepted each Fall, and then otherwise you would have to wait a whole year to reapply again... Aloha from Anchorage! -Angela

    She briefly mentions that you might want to go into vascular if you want something more "chill". Does anyone know why vascular might be considered more chill than the other two?

    Hi!
    I apologize in advance for this being extensive. I had just got into the DMS program at Indiana University Northwest, which is great. After talking to an individual about his 9-year experience as a Sonographer, he only had negative opinions. He stated how physically tired he was, the extensive work hours, and how difficult it is to barely get by. This gave me the worst anxiety because, through your videos and others, I have seen that, just as in any other job, it can cause you to burn out and become physically tired. I worry that I will face difficult financial troubles and/or not have a healthy work-life balance, and I truly don't want to be put into that position. I know this is a career I feel I belong in, but is there any advice you can give me about this? I know there are ways to expand in this career, be in a healthy work-life balance, and be able to have pay that provides sufficient financial stability. When you have the chance, I would love to hear your advice. Thank you!

    I haven’t seen anyone comment about this yet- DMS has been my plan for almost 2 years now (I’m 36 and just now getting my associates 😊) but I am now terrified because when I look at a sonogram, I honestly have NO clue what I’m looking at. I know I’ll learn in school, obviously, but I feel like maybe I’ve chosen the wrong path. Do a lot of people feel like they are just looking at a blob on a screen before school? lol

    • @KristyDMS
      @KristyDMS  3 роки тому +4

      dont even be scared about not being able to understand a sonogram. thats the point of schooling! all the black and grey blobs will make total sense to you!!! i promise! theres a reason why each shade of grey is what it is.! dont be scared!!!

      omg, same! I've tried looking at sonograms and what they are pointing at and I feel like I'm just staring at a grey screen! Working on trusting that I will actually be able to make sense of the sonograms once I start my program.
