No sir he was not. Garbage player. However you have Joe Dumars one of the best classiest players ever, you can admire the Worm's relentless energy, defense, and rebounding; or Isaiah while not a fav the man could flat out ball. Hated the Pistons but had mad respect for some of them but not Lame Beer.
Coop: "Yo Rick, where you at?" Mahorn: "I'm driving somewhere." Coop: "I want you in my podcast. What's your schedule? How's next week?" Mahorn: "Hell let's do it now. I got nothin to hide. Let me pull over."
I still miss the NBA on CBS!!🏀🏀This was my childhood into my early 20's(1977-1990). From the 77 playoffs to the 90 NBA finals. The NBA on CBS in the 80's was special.
Born late in 1985 and growing up on the NBA on NBC and I say the NBA on CBS is as great of presentation of 🏀 as NBC presentation, CBS Sports just didn't care for the league like they did the NCAA but their mistake was signing for MLB and dropping the NBA and also losing the NFL/NFC package and MLB there after😑
@@elwin38 yep! Fox in 1994 gain the NFL/NFC rights, I think Fox in 1995 got the MLB rights split with NBC til 2000 and well you know about the rest after that.
I've seen Rick mahorn playing for several teams and Charles Oakley never wanted any beef with Rick , for some reason Charles Oakley was scared of him even more when Rick was in the Detroit Pistons and they played Charles Oakley hard man and Charles was like he didn't know how to deal with mahorn, there is another guy that Charles Oakley respected , that was James Edwards, that guy didn't give a f*** he was crazy as well 😅
I Was NOT a fan AND since I'm a bad shot , we still have em all ! Altho pay'n to have those holes filled in , in their locker rooms fixed...ugh. ..costly!
Great list of tough guys (other than yourselves): Wes Unseld, Bob Lanier, Maurice Lucas, and Charles Oakley. Plus how about Lonnie Shelton, Moses Malone, Tree Rollins, Dave Cowens, and Kevin Willis?
If y’all haven’t heard of Raymond Lewis,go to Tubi and watch a documentary about him. I seen a story on him yrs ago in the slam magazine. Unbelievable talent.
Great interview. I’ve really kind of grown to like Rick M. And that’s not easy to admit since I couldn’t stand the Pistons. There was no foul in 88. BUT when you’re bill LAMEbeer, the dirtiest player ever you don’t get the benefit of the doubt. You don’t get that call. It’s like Isiah and the Dream Team. When you’re the leader of the dirtiest team ever there’s a price to pay for that. As there should be👍.
Great conversation, and lots of laughs. Pistons fans were never fooled by Rick. We knew he secretly did all sorts of things for charity but wouldn't let it get publicized. Dead opposite of today's virtue signaling players.
The LAKERS had race horses back in the 1980's not muscle the PISTONS were enforcers no speed the LAKERS were full court team the PISTONS were half court team....
Rick Here's a hint. Watch the game from 1972 BEFORE YOU WERE A ROOKIE and Kareem shooting one each way (and getting blocked both times) vs Wilt. Plenty of copies of the clip claiming Wilt blocked the SKY hook twice in a row (it was actually Kareem's jump hook he used when he was out of range of the actual SKY hook, but same mechanics except the ball left his hand going UP and COULD be blocked). Yes, he DID have the left-hander before he played against you.
Can ya tell I was the idiot scream'n Coop along with the audience , meanwhile visitor fans are wondering why we are boo-n our own guy...when it's COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOPP ! I honestly can't even call them the good ole days either cuz... I've NVR stopped watching all these old games! I was a Laker fan since Wilt. & will always keep an eye on my team. Coop...RATING on how happy I am/was that your were apart of my Lakers-team...(1-5) your score '5' ! Coop , watch'n u thru the years been a pleasure , my friend. TY so much for the memories! I've loved watch'n you on the screan as often as i could. I wish I could return the favor...Hmm , Well , I DO have my hunnymoon tapes , but Dont think it'll have the same effect on you as your play , did on me...hmm , what else I have??? O Ya! How about me scoring 4 touchdowns ina single highschool game , at Polk High?? That's sports?? no? get'n closer... OH! How about that time I got snowed-in , in Germany? I got asked to make a shiza video...whatever that is? Prolly safe to say , Coop... I'll NVR be able to pay you back ...I'm sorry! heh-heh
BIRD Celts fan but love the rivalry and Mahorn is a legend and funny as crap. Only one I ever saw best Herman Munster with pulling the chair . But Ricky Big Mike Obammy is a man 😅😅 baby
Instead of photos, you should have shown the video of you two scrapping in games 3 & 4! Below is a video compilation of Rick trying to befriend Coop and his teammates during the '89 series!😂 Coop actually swung on Rick in game 4, which would have got him automatically ejected today. You two were afraid of nobody! Great you two could get together! Thanks again! Now Coop! You indicated a few months ago that you'd have Magic on the show? How long of a tease is this going to be? And, I know the Magic-man is busy, but Buck has got to be at least a 2-hour show!😁 ua-cam.com/video/k_GyAOS0Fhs/v-deo.html
I hope he has Buck on his show because Coop will take a deeper dive with questions and give us stories we haven’t heard before. I get disappointed when interviewers waste their spot with Magic and revisit the same stories like the Kareem game winner during his rookie season, the same Jordan seem team story, and his other rehashed stories. Don’t get me wrong I still love hearing Magic but there’s so many stories still not told especially the losing seasons like vs the Rockets in 86 or his younger days when he led the NBA in steals and his team in rebounding. Or even the state of his knees later in career that many don’t know about. Lastly, his fatigue issues in the 1991 finals I would personally like to know if that was simply conditioning at that age or if it was already HIV
@Eddie B Completely agree on your points! I've been wanting to here some insight into the '89 finals as well, and what their thoughts were had Magic and Byron stayed healthy. They were playing lights-out basketball after defeating Phoenix. That sweep still somewhat eats at me all these years later! But also, sometimes the best stories are the ones they give about something that happened on the bus, plane, locker room, or during a game. Most guys will say that they miss the commraderie with each other more than anything. He'll have Magic on eventually! Can't wait!
Ok...not sure whatcha mean by Coop smokin' too much refer but Answer me this Ricky May-Horn ( as Pat Riley calls ya) ... & I have to be careful , I'm smoking too but , when ,in the history of our little discs float'n in da sky-PLANET , Did MaHorn bring last place team to 1st??? In the NBA??? Puh-Leeze elaborate , my brotha !
Rockin Rick and Coop! 2 legends when the NBA was FANTASTIC! 🏀🏀🏀
The NBA 80’s/90’s kid/teen in me is loving this interview! Keep it going Mr. Cooper!
Man! I learned to love basketball watching these men. The OGs still ready throw hands for the game. My new favorite podcast!
Coop’s show is excellent! He’s a natural. He has a great way of interviewing, he’s professional but fun and honest and humble.
One word to describe the 80's NBA *"FANTASTIC"*
Best era EVER!
Man ...Mahorn was a beast back then . Fun player to watch . Original Bad Boy 👊
'80s NBA was so superior to today's NBA. Great podcast.
One of the greats from the best Piston teams of all time. He and Laimbeer were incredible.
If you like thugs!
Laimbeer was great?! Anyone can be an asshole...he was just better at it! Not sure that something to be proud of! 😂😂😂
No sir he was not. Garbage player. Old school basketball was the best era🙌🎉🎉🎉🎉❤️❤️❤️
I love hearing these OG stories and trash talks
Rick and Coop aged well it’s all about lifestyle! 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Good interview and props to Mahorn, a real good player and man.
I’m an old school Celtics fan and I loved this interview. These guys are a lot of fun to listen to. Coop gives a great interview.
Two of my favorite players, back then.

@@brandedmcgowan9414 Yep, the MLB on CBS was a disaster! The NCAA was huge on CBS from the late 80's on. Fox took over from CBS in the early 90's.

Oh yeah, James Edwards was not the one you wanted to mess with.
Rick was actually a solid player in the bullets. He cooked em both with offence & defence.
Great video and interview rick mahorn was a true enforcer
Coop was pretty tough too.
Original Badboy… The Badboy Pistons were a great squad.. Full of different personalities.. ✊🏽✊🏽
Both these guys are in great shape.
Great interview
Big Fan of the Bad Boys . I Remember watching Rick play in a Exhibition game in Hamilton, Ontario 🇨🇦 . The Pistons helped Toronto get an NBA team.
Def. Gotta show this to Isiah.
I Was NOT a fan AND since I'm a bad shot , we still have em all ! Altho pay'n to have those holes filled in , in their locker rooms fixed...ugh. ..costly!
Loved watching the pistons lakers Celtics sixers. Pistons were always disrespected. Excellent interview.
I love this interview!!!!
Great list of tough guys (other than yourselves): Wes Unseld, Bob Lanier, Maurice Lucas, and Charles Oakley. Plus how about Lonnie Shelton, Moses Malone, Tree Rollins, Dave Cowens, and Kevin Willis?
And the toughest guard: Calvin Murphy.
Xavier McDaniel and Anthony Mason
Paul Silas
Buck Williams, Steve Mix, Terry Cummings, and Larry "Mr. Mean" Smith.
Bill Cartwright and his elbows
I was a die-hard Pistons fan, I remember that run in they had, Cooper actual got a lick in which very few did
Great interview!
Great interview 🤗👍🏽
Coop-a-Loop and Slick Rick!

Fun interview.

I'll bet Mahorn could still play if he wanted. The Pistons could use his veteran leadership and can school this current Pistons team what REAL D is.

There was no foul. There was a ref whistle. Kareem did make the free throws. Everyone knows it now.
