Tommy and Tubbo never meeting but the idea that in another world they’d have been friends absolutely destroyed me.
Actually there were so many paralleled words and symbolism through the story i literally broke down every time i found one. Like if you guys remember “war, such a small word for such a big thing” or something along those lines and then Kyle wrote again “death, such a small word for such a big thing” but then at the very end there was a shift and i can’t remember it but it was about “the green god” or dream and they said something like ‘such a big word for someone so small’ when referring to dream. If you cant tell I literally ADORE this fic it was so good.
If someone had like the direct quotes or other examples feel free to say because I’d love to see them again.

And yes all the references killed me as well, when it was describing all the different Tommy's they all flashed in my mind, exiled tommy, avian tommy from origins smp... HIM IN THE OLD SUIT WITH ALLIUMS IN HIS POCKET (or at least I think that was it) and when phil mentioned that he wish he had been there when wilbur pressed the button... That part I almost sobbed-
Yep, as Izzy Wolf described it was at the end when it refers to god as a small word for a big thing, which I think just exemplifies how the author has very good penmanship (cuz rule of threes and all the detailed, but not too overexplained emotions of the characters. Not to mention the multiple references to the irl people.)

Passerine is one of the saddest and most beautiful fics I’ve ever read. I ugly cried so hard at the dead saying goodbye to the living. It’s really cool to see an amazing fic like this get its due praise. Your interpretation of the screen is spot on to how I imagined it. It makes it even more sad that they had to leave their loved ones. Tommy’s goodbye will never not make me cry.

I had many many moments of sniffles, but I think the main points that got me to bawling were when Tommy and Wilbur shared their secrets, when Tommy was dying, when Techno pulled out the flowers from his hair, when Phil was saying goodbye one final time, when Sally and what we can assume to be Fundy was talked about right at the end, and any time there was a connection to the main Dream SMP plot (Tommy having a broken compass, Phil saying he wished he could have pressed the button when it was a horn, and Tommy thinking him and Tubbo could be brothers in another life)
And on top of all of that, my number one sobbing moment was the line “his mother’s laughter had never been so clear” at the end of chapter 4. That broke me. I had never cried so badly over media.
So, in conclusion, I cried a ton. I am a crazy emotional person, and this is definitely in my top 5 saddest media I have ever watched/read/seen before

I just finished reading Passerine then I saw this. This is just absolutely phenomenal!!! Captured the emotions of every scene PERFECTLY. Every detail and character represented exactly as they should be. Mind-blowing work.

but the absolute saddest thing in the entire world to me is that philza never gets to reunite with his sons. Techno, Wilbur and Tommy will eventually meet up in the afterlife, but Philza NEVER gets to, (unless he finds a way to remove both his and Dreams godhood but that never is said to happen in the story so). Philza can only live with the memory of his sons, and old friend, while the generations of their kingdom lives on, passing down the emerald as a family heirloom, only to find that Philza can never, and will never ever come back. So anyways, Im gonna go cry-
