One look on social media and you'll see back stretchers touted as a great relief option for those with back pain. In this video we talk about how these back stretchers are potentially helpful and how they differ from the towel exercise we recommend for back pain as part of the Back In Shape Program.
Ultimately using these sorts of Back Stretchers to help with your back pain is something that can help, however, in most of the videos, reviews and advertisements, if you've got lower back pain, the technique demonstrated will certainly not be ideal for lower lumbar back pain.

I'm 28 and have lower backpain for weeks. I've inspired of this video and put a rolled up towel under my lower back as you showed. It really worked, I couldn't even believe it first omg!! I'm so happy, thanks!
I'm glad it helped you, if you do need further help with your back recovery and rehab check out the program on our website :) backinshapeprogram.com
Great work man. There are less people out there who provide this type of vital information. People are blindly marketing any information but there are some like you, who corrects them. Well done
Thank you for the kind words, I'm glad you found the information helpful! :D
Absolutely brilliantly presented. . This man knows his stuff. Like others no instructions provided when bought the product. Mine is a lower back problem so its makes sense the way you described issues people have with it. Thank you so much. Just need to build up the core muscles now.
Thanks for the kind words Gary! Crack on with the strengthening - it really will help!
Thank you for being so thorough with your explanation. Really appreciate it
IT's a pleasure :) glad you found it helpful!
Thanks for the great advice. I have been using my back stretcher for T12 L1 issues and it has helped a lot, however I was getting on and off incorrectly. So thank you for that great tip. It's also great to change position and stretch my lumber region as you have shown. Also I love your awesome socks 🧦 👍🏻🥰
It's a pleasure :) glad you found the video helpful. yeah using it to also help that lower lumbar level will be handy long term :D Glad the socks made an impression too :D
How long have you used it because I just got it right now and I have like a chronic back pain for a long time my lower spine is very straight
Wow. I love how thorough you are and how you explain, not just what to do or what not to do, but also why. Very good and very rare.
Thanks a lot for the kind words, glad you found it helpful!
What is the name of the back stretcher I'm looking for it on amazon
Absolutely brilliant video. I spend my days sitting since I work remotely from home. Bought one, receiving this Wednesday and needed the instructions of how to use it. Very educational. And your accent and face is a ++. 😁
Thanks for the kind words Janet and lovely to hear that you found the video helpful!
Thankyou so much it was very informative & i can immediately see the changes in my lower back. Earlier i too was doing as per the ads but wasnt feeling any difference in the lower back pain but just by doing once as you showed i feel a huge difference in my lower back pain. It has reduced the pain immediately. Thanks once again.
It's a pleasure, it is funny that they don't give good advice with the marketing material! probably loosing out on a fair few customers & good reviews! (you're not the first person to say this)
Amazing. My back is starting to feel better already. Thank you.
It's a pleasure :)
My necks been locked up in one side for about 4 years. I went to the Chiro and he helped me get it to where I can stretch it and avoid any pinched nerve. I used one of these for 3 days and my neck is free. Also freed up my upper hip lower back area.
Great to hear that you're not in trouble anymore! :D
Thanks for this! I've been using it wrong especially when getting on and off. Only had it a few days so this has been so helpful. Couldn't really find any helpful instructions on how to use till now.
I am glad you found this video helpful! you're not the first to say that! well at least the video is here online and comes up as relevant :D. Make sure you're doing some strengthening work alongside this - the two will work wonders :)
Thank you very much for making the video. Very informative and clear demonstration
It's a pleasure. glad you found it helpful :D
This one video answered so many questions, thank you. I was instinctively doing what you were saying. Its hard to know the difference between feels good and is good, but you showed the mechanics and it makes sense now.
Glad you found this video helpful :D
Thank you! Very informative and clear
It's a pleasure, glad you found it helpful :)
Now this video was useful! Thanks for showing the bridge movement to mount and dismount. That has been very helpful!
It's a pleasure Alana :D glad it was helpful! the dismount is so important as last thing you want is to somewhat undo the good you've done on the thing!
wow my dad told me to do the bridge position and i told him no thats not how they have shown online but after so much of information I have understood because of you he was right I should've listened to him . Thanks
Glad to hear you've found the information helpful :)

Very informative, I've been using mine the wrong way...Thank you.
no problem Paul, it is common becuase i think the guidance is a little off when it comes to the companies that sell these :/ for low back pain anyway.
Thank you so much for the information.
No problem :)
Great demonstration and good advice. I use a towel sometimes which is much easier on the back but I also do stretches which help a lot.
That's awesome, the towel is what we always recommend to our members, and you must be doing strengthening work alongside this for long term results :)
I feel like ive been using my back stretcher wrong this whole time. I will try your techniques when I get home thank you for the informational video!
It's a pleasure, it's common too, just due to a lack of proper instruction we find :)
Bought a back stretcher for middle back pain due to posture problems , works well for me immediate relief. Never used it for more than a minute just in case.
Great to hear you found it helpful!
Thanks so much for the info.
Its a pleasure :)
So much better. Excellent video. I know the back stretcher is not the only answer, but at least I know how to use it correctly.

Oh thank you for this video, i've been using it wrong. I feel more comfortable now. 😊
NO problem, glad you found it helpful - it's unfortunately an easy mistake to make given the images you see on places like instagram!
Excellent video. Terrific advice and a great help in enabling me to use a back stretcher. Seems to be helping me to ease some lumbar stenosis pain
Thanks for the kind words, glad to hear you found it helpful :)
OMG! this was the advice i needed. I did it all wrong to decompress L4-L5. thank you!
It's a pleasure, we're glad that the video helped you! if you need any more help do check out the program for more guidance: backinshapeprogram.com plus our youtube channel in general :)

thank you for this! The place I got mine from had no instructions and I was using it completely wrong. I was going to return it until I saw your video. I just tried it this way, and I got a really great stretch on my lower back and it took away a bunch of tension 🙏
great to hear you have found this helpful! It is odd that they seem to be giving out poor guidance on how to use them best!
`
Thank you so much for this video.
It's a pleasure :)
Your video was so helpful! I have sleeping issues so tend to spend most nights on my sofa + I'm way overweight so wanted to get myself a back stretcher to help me. Followed the guidelines from the manufacturer and I have put so much stress on my upper abs that's it's unbearable!
With your advice, it helps immensely.
Thank you 🙏
It's a pleasure :). take a look at our program as well as it will really help your lower back medium to long term too :)
Great Video and explanation. I will be adjusting my position now. Anyone out there with lower back pain get on the back&shape program it works.
Thanks so much for the endorsement Terry! the slight tweak just makes such a massive difference to make the thing benefit your lower lumbar spine :D
This guy is Brilliant!!!!
Hope you found the video helpful :)
Much better! Thank you 😊
Its a pleasure Liz
Excellent video

I was looking into getting one of these and I appreciate the explanation! I did get one of those neck pillow things
Great to hear you found it handy, the neck ones are pretty good ☺️
Thanks
THANK YOU!!! I felt like I was using it wrong and it turns out I was, but it was SO right! My lower back hates me and I think with this in the "wrong" position, it'll help tremendously! Thanks for confirming wrong is right for the lower back!
Its a pleasure, glad to her you found the video helpful!
Omg thank u so much. Was trying to do the recommended position and could only hold for loke seconds untill i had extreme pain
glad it helped :)
Thank you, you probably saved me from damaging myself 🙏
Great to hear it was helpful :)
What a great help! Thank you very much. Been having chronic backpain for months now. I bought one of this online, hoping it'll ease my backpain, but after every used, this thing made it worst! I followed the instructions that comes with the device. I thought I got scammed into buying one of this 😆 I never thought I'm using it all wrong. Good thing I found your channel 😊
Thanks for the kind feedback Marie, If you need any more help beyond our UA-cam Channel you can always check out our full program at backinshapeprogram.com

Thanks for the information I will pass this on to the medical team. Kind regards.
Perfect :)
Yes I figured that out on my own.
Awesome :)
Well explained
Glad you found it helpful!
Thank you so much!!!!
It's a pleasure :)
The one I bought is curved up on the sides, which feels lovely when I’m stretching but makes it almost impossible to get off of because you can’t just slide it out! The first time I used it I was on the floor and while I was on it I felt great but as soon as I tried to get off of it I hurt myself. My husband had to lift me off of it, helping me sit up. Since then I’ve only used it on my bed, which is less effective but I can roll to the side to get off of it, and then I just go to sleep.
The dismount is so important with these things :) it will be much better now you can get off on the bed because otherwise you just undo the good its done! :)
This channel should have had millions of sub
Thanks for the kind words :D we're working on it!
I thank you kind sir.
Thank you!!!
It's a pleasure :)
Thank your❤❤❤❤
This was very useful thank you! Do you have a video on rehabilitation exercises for disc bulge?
Its a pleasure, yes we do have the full masterclass here: ua-cam.com/video/QIYFt7qQbJw/v-deo.html
just tried it and i really felt the stretch in the targeted areas. hopefully there would be long-term effects. thanks :)
Awesome, just make sure that you're doing the right strengthening work alongside this for max benefit :)
Thanks!
Thank you for the support! :)
I’ve got one on it’s way thanks I’m more confidant in it working cheers
Its a pleasure :)
Great info! Thanks so much! I was doing it all wrong....😱
Glad it helped you CJ!
Makes sense ,,thanks
Thank you
no problem
I have a thing called True Back.
It has the Apex down further . I’ve use the True Back for close to 20 years after having a boat with sciatica. Thank goodness it’s never came back. I do a little tulip on the True Back every so often.
Awesome thanks for sharing, we'll check it out :)
I have almost the exact same one you used in this video.. is there a way to use this for the upper back/shoulders or neck?
That's one of my problems areas ... besides the lowest part of it back... thank you for your time.. this video should have 50x more views
I think realistically you probably could use it for the upper back but the neck it's just too big. To be honest you'd be better off using a rolled towel for the upper back and neck :)
Good job sir
Thanks for the kind comment
Makes complete sense. Matt the pilates teacher.
Thanks a lot matt :)
I have lower back pain and I will be using my wife's back stretcher, good thing she lost her instructions for this device, thank you for the good instructions 😊
No problem Christopher! If you've had it for a longer period of time definitely take a look at our full program on the site, it will help :) backinshapeprogram.com
Great video - new subscriber. These are heavily marketed across Amazon, thank you for sharing the perils. My lower back issues are due to excessive lordosis and has seized up playing golf this weekend. Would a device like this help or hinder my situation?
Thanks Anthony, Glad you found the video helpful! In short usage done correctly it is likely to be helpful for most, but we would personally suggest a towel is sufficient. your can read more about the full exercises that we'd recommend on our website - by the way the Phase 1 will help you given the current issue - backinshapeprogram.com/join-free/ for more info.
There are also 3 other videos that will be relevant to you and hopefully help you further:
1) Longer Video on Lordosis (30 minutes) ua-cam.com/video/lCTEEaqDUX4/v-deo.html
2) Shorter video on lordosis (10 mins) ua-cam.com/video/BdWXVWlcx_Y/v-deo.html&t
3) Golf & back pain Video (20 minutes) ua-cam.com/video/Cqh9z6l24kI/v-deo.html
Really useful, thank you mate
@@anthonyjames2345 It's a pleasure :)
Thank you so much for posting this. I've been struggling with just walking lately because of my lower back pain (the muscles start to tighten and spasm if I walk even a short distance) so I ordered myself a back stretcher hoping it will help. I would have completely done it the wrong way if I hadn't found your video. Once again thank you in advance.
no problem at all Marcella, Do check out the program on our website as this will certainly help you with your back pain. The stretching of course is one part but people often get caught out either doing the wrong strengthening exercises or not doing strengthening at all. :) here's a link to the website: backinshapeprogram.com/
@@BackInShapeProgram Thank you very much I will follow this program. Much appreciated.
@@marcellakicks6181 It's a pleasure :)
Thank you, whatta difference.
It's a pleasure! glad it helped you!
My back hurts right behind my rib where you say most don't have issues I have always thought that was lower back sometimes it hurts lower but it constantly hurts right below the Middle where you pointed at top of green section
Thanks for educating me , I have spondylosis
its a pleasure, you might find this interesting too (given you mention spondylosis) backinshapeprogram.com/2023/07/degenerative-disc-disease-in-the-low-back-the-essential-guide/
Thank you for sharing your ideas. By the way, is this device able to correct scoliosis? Thanks!
Its a pleasure, It might have some benefit from a lower lumbar scoliosis but it's not really designed for that unfortunately.
Thank you very much for this video. Great to finally understand how to use the device properly. Do you have any advice about using it for the upper back? Is that even possible/healthy?
To be honest, i think it's a little extreme for the upper/mid back, for anyone that's stiff in this region seeing images of hyperflexible gymnasts folding back over it is just unrealistic. You can use a smaller rolled towel there but working on your posture is going to be a necessary option as well - this video might well be helpful: ua-cam.com/video/5KlfeFeXjHo/v-deo.html
Very Good Video
Thank you :D
