Are you playing this with all down strokes?
Goodness no! I'm flatpicking. It's about half the notes in each direction. Generally the accented notes are on the down stroke and the unaccented notes are on the back stroke.

Just ordered vol 2. Ought to keep me busy. Update: received it already. Bought it for just this song and I f I learn it by end of summer, I'll be happy. If i don't want to use a capo, what would i tune one of my dulcimers to?
You can tune to C A D for the tune, but you won't be able to play the harmonies.
@@TradmanTX Finally started trying in earnest to learn this. Probably is beyond me, but will keep me busy this winter. I did order a capo.
@@58gennaro Good luck with it. Play it very slowly until you start to get it under your fingers. Then s l o w l y try to build up the speed.
@@TradmanTX Thank you. I carefully timed your play in small increments to the book. I think that will help, but it's still going to be a bear.
