Roc was one of my favorite shows to watch when I was a kid because it took on real life issues like gang violence, race, drugs and they didn't live in a luxury home nor wealthy like the Cosby show and Fresh Prince. It's sad that this show was so real that it got cancelled.
the Cosby Show and Fresh Prince were both based on real people: Cosby on Cosby's life and Fresh Prince in Benny Medina's life living with Berry Gordy's family. I'm not sure why Black people don't think Black people can't possibly be rich, but we can.
@@brownin329 Nothing wrong with being rich & that they can. The goal of Roc was educating the black & white community if I might add on issues that are seldom addressed on such a powerful medium such as TV. I remember watching that stop the violence speech/episode with my cousins. We were so shook because you didn’t have many black entertainers showing this much passion for the community.
@@MsTbe23 agree, and we as blacks can't seem to have our own networks especially do to the amount of support for it, from both financial and non financial support among other reasons. And we also as blacks don't universally and fully support each other for various reasons too. It's sad and it what it is either way.
Fox's cancellation of Roc and other black programs ,was a prime example of how Fox,along with the now defunct UPN& WB ,which is now The CW,use these shows to build their existence, and will heavily emphasize on promoting predominantly white shows.
I’m not surprised by In Living Color’s cancellation. None of the Wayans were involved that final season with Keenan having issues with execs or whatever. Season 5 and some of 4 just wasn’t good. Bet the viewership went down. I’d forgotten about South Central. I remember it, but didn’t watch it. I used to watch the Sinbad Show and was down when that show was cancelled and I did watch Roc with my mom and grandmother every week, but don’t fully recall if we regularly watched season 3 after the time slot change. The stuff mentioned I do remember vaguely, like that speech Dutton gave in the ep about violence.
It's rather sad how people look to television (entertainers) to shape and mold their reality but if you don't know then I guess guidance/wisdom comes from all walks of life.
I was only 8 years old when Roc first aired but I vividly remember enjoying the show and subject matter. I was way too serious as a kid but these types of shows were more reflective of my reality than anything else on TV❤🖤💚
This exactly what John Amos was talking about with Good Times! Axed his character because the white writers wanted to make JJ a buffoon of himself, him & Estelle Rolle went through this in the 70s.
I agree about Charles, the rest has been common disrespect that’s always been tossed onto people of color in Hollywood. Folks living now need to stop thinking they can or even want to recreate Hollywood, that time has passed & they’re not even in California let alone Los Angeles to be calling themselves mimicking Hollywood (swear man, folks do that to California when it comes to Hollywood, “gang banging” & beaches. Always try to find a way to latch to that as if it’s all there is here). The show Roc mirrored real life elsewhere, again I say, dealing with real life, not fantasy b.s.
After seeing this Charles S. Dutton is definitely a hero of mine and someone whom I have the deepest respect for. The man is a walking talking example of what one black man, not a privleged black man, not a rich black man but just a man can do!
FOX had a lot of shows in the 90s with people of color- ROC, MARTIN, NY UNDERCOVER, LIVING SINGLE, MADtv, SOUTH CENTRAL, IN LIVING COLOR, just to name a few. They were very diverse compared to the other networks. Some shows lasted longer than others. Seems like the ones that had a deeper subject matter were taken off the air way 2 soon. What a shame!
That was such a good show....I think networks detest seeing black positive male role models , father's and the likes. Just a productive black family unit is an issue. We already don't have enough as it is and pushing any negative stereotype that's against us is better for them in a sense.
So true. I see a lack of black males on tv and the movies. Black women on tv show and commercials always have a black female dating or married to a successful, white man,no black men in sight. You rarely ever see a sucessful black man dating or marrled to a white woman. You hardly ever see a black male as a scientist,a CEO of a corporation,or rich, sucessful attorney,etc,etc,..just the same ole Gang leadr, drug dealer,gang-banger,hoodlum,etc,etc...the same ole okey d doke.
Absolutely! Just look at the agenda to feminize black men. They don’t like strong black families, with a mother & father. Instead they want those freaks in hollyweird to tell us what’s "normal." NOT SO!
You Think? This Whole System is set up to be against us man. FR. Everything. And to keep it going in entertainment, all you gotta do is give a little bread to some of us so we can be puppets and further spread their agenda. Its really sad all around tbh. SMH! Actually, Not Sad...Disgusting.
This was one of the best shows on TV, it is so sad that every time there is a positive black show on TV the networks claim there are low ratings. Being a buffoon is and always will be regarded as entertainment.
Roc was right about Fox not promoting the Roc show. I remember watching the Roc back in the day and i never seen any commercials promoting the Roc. the Roc was a great show and help make Fox the best network in the early to mid 90`s in my opnion. I guess the Fox Network seen the Roc as a threat to the staus quo, and wanted to depict stereotypical images like in the show Martin. Fox also tried to change Living Single to where the black male actors on the show are acting like buffons while the black females on the show are continually portaryed as strong black women.
Thank you for highlighting this show. I loved this program. This show and "Frank's Place" on CBS were the best black sitcoms on TV. These shows had fully fleshed, realistic characters. Great acting, writing and direction. It was not the typical black sitcom. While we needed the "Martin" sitcoms, we also needed to balance black life with "Roc" and "Frank's Place".
Thank y'all for doing this! It's interesting, I stumbled upon reruns of Roc late one night on one of our local channels and it's amazing how well the episodes hold up, even today. So much respect for Charles Dutton standing his ground with the network and keeping it real on the show
THANK U RRG for putting a spotlight on works of art and people of color that often get overlooked. Shows like ROC and the short lived SOUTH CENTRAL were powerful and very much needed. KEEP 'EM COMING!!!!!
My Mother and I watched this show Faithfully every Sunday night. The way it evolved from a standard sitcom to a show that tackled social issues that were considered too controversial at the time. The way Fox did Roc, New York Undercover, South Central, and some other African-American Shows was beyond Disrespectful to say the least.
Wow!? I _am_ shocked. Not so much at Fox bc we’ve known about them for a looong time, but it still stings like it’s new news 😞 I can’t believe that man was punched at 80!? 😭 And I remember that episode where Roc did that speech. I remember having chills while watching! Such a shame how they didn’t/wouldn’t listen to his brilliant mind! Thanks so much for this!!
YES I am furious about that as well, how could anyone have the audacity to do that to an elderly 80 year old man ( may he rest in peace)with no decency to even care if he lived or died. That's somebody's family and love one. I hope the family is getting justice still for what has happened. The speech on the last episode was so powerful. This will also be one of my favorite shows of that era and the roc being one of my favorite characters as well as his dad in the show may he rest in peace as well
Just Keeping It REAL!!!! It Was That New Network Head, At That Time!!!! HIT SHOWS GETTING CANCELLED, BECAUSE THEY WERE BLACK SHOW!!!!!! IT REALLY WAS, WHAT IT LOOKED LIKE!!!!!!!
ROC was one of my favorite shows.. Charles Dutton, Carl, Ella Joyce and Rocky Carroll were so underrated and unappreciated. Network TV wasn't ready for the topics they tackled. They were pioneers.
The live episodes were stellar!! The realness of the cast was amazing to watch. I appreciate it now more than then because we all lived thru those social issues and it was like everyday life for some. It highlighted black middle class life. To me Florida and James walked so the cast of Roc could run. We need this show right now!
I don't know how kid friendly it was to watch, but we loved Roc in my house! I remember watching that gun episode the night it premiered. Anytime Blacks want to unite, push positivity, and do better, mainstream can't handle it. But "racism isn't real" tho. It's ridiculous 😒 That was a damn good show!
2:01...you can see that Charles was on Broadway with future Roc co-stars Rocky Carroll and Carl Gordon, as well as Lou Myers, most famous for playing Mr Gaines on A Different World.
That show was excellent. Positive and showed us in a good light. Our Black men were strong on that show and the Black woman was supportive of her husband and intelligent. A great nucleus! They even tried going live to keep that show going. I'm interested in see your take on what happened to them.
I just started back watching this masterpiece again after many years!!! It randomly popped up on my UA-cam feed, and Charles S.Dutton is a phenomenal actor and writer and producer! Peace & Light everyone ✨💫☀️✨

I’m 44 years old now, and I remember watching Roc in the den with my parents & other family. Those were such good, warm times back then. Love that show.
🌬️💨💨💨 This is the SAME THING that happened to the 70's sitcom show Goodtimes. Goodtimes addressed serious issues among the black community that was ultimately overshadowed by Jimmie Walkers clown🤡 character "JJ." Ester Rolle and John Amos was constantly at odds with the predominantly white writing team on Goodtimes which eventually led to Amos being written off the show and Ester Rolle leaving. Absolutely ridiculous!
The.show 'Roc" showed us being a "Blue Collar Working Man" is still relevant. The show brought us 'Black Cool", "Black Consciousness" , Strong Rooted Family Values" & sometimes "Laughter & Silliness But Not Corny". I certainly loved the show. It still airs in my city on "B.E.T. & Fave TV every morning.....I watch it like it brand new.....💯❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Wow this show sounds like it broke barriers. Unfortunately I wasn’t born yet when it was aired. But Charles went above and beyond to make something that could resonate with his people. I salute him for that. Thanks for the great and informative videos bestie. ❤️
roc was also shattering every other white show during its time slot...so that shows even white people enjoyed this show....fox was known for cancelling very successful positive black shows living single , sinbad, south central all were top ten shows in ratings and cancelled ....theres many white shows who werent getting good ratings and stayed on much longer
It’s interesting. I watched this show every week with my mother and grandmother. I was going on 10 when it premiered. As a black kid who grew up in a suburban area in Central Virginia, most of this content went over my head in some ways and didn’t realize how impactful it was. I do remember vaguely the ep with the speech on gun violence. This show was really good. I was disappointed when it was cancelled along with the Sinbad Show. In Living Color past season 3 was meh, and without the Wayans involved (and knowing what I know now, don’t blame them), it wasn’t as good, especially season 5. Season 4 had some good stuff in it.
@@ssjup81 yes but friends literally copied the same concept but watered it down for a white audience and it was cancelled The actor who played Overton spoke on it with comedy hype years ago
🎵" Live Your Life Today, Not for Tomorrow!" This was such a groundbreaking show. I loved it! It tackled so many social issues. I don't care what movie Charles S. Dutton is in, I will always know him as "Roc".
I loved Roc it was so underrated, as many said "Ahead of the times", I knew it was canceled but never knew why. And I also believe all the characters were underrated, of course: Charles Dutton, Ella Joy didn't get her recognition until after "Set It Off", Carl (Roc's dad) died in 2010, and Rocky Carrol do you guys realize how many shows he has produced and directed? some on Roc and pretty much all of NCIS...and look how many people came from the show and are now super celebs: Jamie, Clinton, Loretta, and Samuel. I am not surprised, networks do this to black sitcoms and shows often. And for those who say we need our own Black networks, we had them, but unfortunately, white networks always take them over or black networks have to sell to white networks.
Robert Johnson didn't have to sell. He chose to sell, Viacom made an offer he couldn't refuse I guess. I really hated when that happened cause that's the only network WE had. He was the first black billionaire in the USA because of that $3B pay day. Viacom just wanted BET Holdings to better reach black audiences with their gauntlet of white-bred American entertainment.
Exactly the way Fox was described on The Simpsons. Bart hit it right on the head! Loosely quoted: "you know when you sign a deal with Fox network you're going to be exploited ,cheated and thrown out!" 😱😤🤷🏾💯💯😵
Every channel today exploits black people. Every single of them. There’s nothing more raunchy than reality shows, black folks making buffoons of themselves for giggles from ignorant people who watch that trash.
There is nothing surprising about this. Before Roc there was a show called Frank's Place that was similar to Roc in terms of subject matter that only lasted one season. Frank's place was a masterpiece that ran into the same issues Roc faced. They moved the time slot for Frank's Place so often in 22 episodes that no one could find it, and then said the ratings were to low. After Roc, there was another show called City of Angels that starred Blair Underwood and Vivica A. Fox, and an all-star cast that also dealt with uncomfortable issues with race and that show also lasted three seasons. City of Angels was a great show with an all-star cast that didn't get as much promo as some of the other shows on other networks. Although Roc was on Fox, Frank's Place and City of Angels was on CBS. This is the standard in dealing with black shows that bring a positive message. Simply put.....no one wants to really hear OUR story and they prove it when they take the shows that tell the truth about us off the air.
He stood his ground and kept his integrity as a man throughout that sitcom run. It deserves to be celebrated. I remember when there was a turn (shift) FOX and UPN/WB. It was a time when these two networks were competing against the big three (ABC, NBC and CBS). They needed us (our talent) to make them. Just as history has shown, once they got what they can get out of us, they tossed us to the curb. What happened didn’t surprise me.
Roc is my favorite childhood sitcom. I loved the others but I loved the way they tackled real life subject matters on that show. And the fact that the entire second season was record live and they had money on the line if they missed up was amazing to me
I loved Roc. White folks get scared when we start to speak up. Just like A Different World was cxld due to we started using the show as a vocal platform. Thank God for your site and Black owned TV and Radio shows who report on and show reruns for the next generation. We gon be heard!
The 90s and black television sitcoms were magical because they stayed having PSA! They always talked about gun violence, STDs/HIV, rape, and other topics to help with people and especially the youth. There are NO SHOWS now with PSA and we still going through the same issues from 30+ years ago. Bring back PSA episodes!
How could you be shocked when you don't own anything when you're not a owner of anything and you're just an employee you would never be shocked that's why they say ownership is key God-bless you rock
Bounce Tv is a great channel.I liked all the 90s shows they were funny but they tackled good issues even Family Matters and Fresh Prince had strong episodes that were much better worth than anything else about these reality tv mess we got nowadays.
i was 11 when this show was out. I remember really wanting to see how they were going to handle messing up lines during their "live" TV era. They never did mess up tho. 😂
His character (crazy George) was really immature and he was kind of taking over to show on some Steve urkel type shyt. I understand that Jamie was just doing his thing but that's simply wasn't the direction that Charles doesn't wanted to go
Roc, Arsenio Hall show and "In Living Color" were all true evolutions in African-American television media, each one illustrated the realities of a separate social milieu, internal cultural frequency and entertainment format that spoke to the audience in ways that resonated with our daily existence as black people living in a white-dominated society. These shows have an important impact on the black race as far as our image to the outer communities has been stereotypically presented by non-black producers, usually in detrimental ways and for the short time they had the limelight all of these great shows were a much needed breath of fresh air to millions. Fox media couldn't stand the success of Roc and the insistence of Mr. Dutton that artistic control, group conscience and subject themes be placed in his hands, the same with Arsenio and the Wayans family, all of them wonderful examples of sound leadership in representing the best of their community-at-large in constructive yet entertaining black-cultured media content.... I'm very grateful to be alive in this part of our collective history to have been a living witness to these excellent and still emanating shows, Rupert Murdoch and his Anglophilia did their best to destroy the legacy of Roc as well as to lambast anything positive the black race in America tries to put forward but there will be other and even more powerful offerings coming to light now that the internet is available beyond the power and insular landscape of one organization's wicked reach and i'll be eagar indeed to see what's coming!!!🛣️📺🗝️📣✨📱🧐💯
🤔 So any show that tapped into and showed real concern for black lives were canceled back then? Hmmm 🤔. As a little girl, I couldn't understand why my favorite shows were going off air, but now I do. He's right. They do prefer seeing us act like 🤡 and buffoons on tv.
That fact that this video has over 100K views in less than 2 weeks shows how much this show still lives in people's hearts and minds, I know it does in mine. Rather ironic that Fox canceled so many black shows in that era, considering that :the fourth network's" 1990's success was built off of the talent of black comedians. With Martin having had a reunion last month and popular 80's & 90-'s shows coming back, I really do hope a Roc reboot finds a home in the vast growing number of streaming services. Give Charles S. Dutton full creative control and just let him be yo!
Was just watching Low Down Dirty Shame the other day and when Charles came on the screen i said "wonder why Roc never got its flowers?" Now I see why, was way ahead of its time and went over a lot of folks heads. Thanks for this!
Roc was a show ahead of it's time and it touched on issues of race that needed to be discussed . I really loved this show because Roc stood for things that were positive and he was a no nonsense guy with a heart of gold . When Fox first started their network they had lots of Black shows like Roc , In Living Color, etc and people watched those shows . With their popularity they started creating more and more White shows and sabotaged Roc and In Living Color and took them both off the air . I hate Fox and haven't watched that network since that time . I call them the Trump network now .
@@Thespeedrap Nope. Media Mogul Rupert Murdoch who owns TV stations in Europe and his native Australia has owned 100% of Fox/News Corp. since the beginning in 1986/'87. Look him up. But is something wrong with that? At the end of the day it’s a business and the Network & Execs need to return healthy profits. Morally, socially & ethically it may not be good but from a pragmatic profit perspective, it is what the ultimate goal is. I love Dutton for standing his ground and maintaining for integrity and pushing for real issues on the show. And he’d rather be canceled than show something that’s non-value-adding. A combination of doing hard-time and going to Yale Law school for a Masters in the Arts. We got the best of both worlds.
I was in my early 20's, and a sophomore at The University Of Cincinnati when "Roc" came on the air. The show touched a lot of topics from gay marriages to being a black man in America. "Roc" was way ahead of its time. I was very disappointed when FOX took it off the air, but at the same time, I wasn't surprised.
ROC was definitely one of my favorites as a child. I was in elementary school when it was on the air and the only show my mother would let me stay up to watch.

A very talented handsome reformed man.. He was too REAL for TV..But he should know his work has affected some people positively..I dug the Healing he was trying to provide to the Community.. Many more Blessings to him.😇😇😇
The problem is with our society is that we are so program and being entertained by the stereotypes and sometimes we don't realize the kind of message we are sending to those who are watching and especially the kids and what is so sad is that we don't have any positive perspectives about what we supposed to learn and what we supposed to do to maintain our black family structure in our homes and especially when it comes to being a role a model to them and towards each other and that's why we miss the whole true meaning and Valuable Lesson about life to learn, grow and to teach others about how important it is to have a conscious mind and I don't understand why negativity always gets the praise instead of the positively and that's the main problem that these networks dont care about.

THIS IS WHY BLACK PEOPLE NEED OUR OWN NETWORKS!!!!!!
Yup!
It won’t matter when the advertisers are white
We really do but it seems like every time we create something, it gets sold away or infiltrated for the worse
@@MsTbe23 agree, and we as blacks can't seem to have our own networks especially do to the amount of support for it, from both financial and non financial support among other reasons. And we also as blacks don't universally and fully support each other for various reasons too. It's sad and it what it is either way.
If they give reparations than we could get our own channels, studios and maybe better record companies.
Most are now defunct. Payback is a "B" and they deserve every single pound of that Payback.
Roc was the show that was a guide to parenting. "Parents" today need to watch this show, and use it as on-the-job training.
It's rather sad how people look to television (entertainers) to shape and mold their reality but if you don't know then I guess guidance/wisdom comes from all walks of life.
@@spiritualvibrations2825 exactly.
These single mothers don't want to "parent" they just want the check.
I was only 8 years old when Roc first aired but I vividly remember enjoying the show and subject matter. I was way too serious as a kid but these types of shows were more reflective of my reality than anything else on TV❤🖤💚
I do too. Parker Lewis, true colors, in living color and Roc. It was a hell of a time. #sundays
This exactly what John Amos was talking about with Good Times! Axed his character because the white writers wanted to make JJ a buffoon of himself, him & Estelle Rolle went through this in the 70s.
Charles is an underrated Black Hollywood gem for sure. Another great video full of stuff I didn't know before!
@Entertaining Black Man Videos Thanks for sharing. Good thing I used "is" which means currently, and not "was" which would mean past tense.
His great performance in Get On The Bus. 👌🏽
After seeing this Charles S. Dutton is definitely a hero of mine and someone whom I have the deepest respect for. The man is a walking talking example of what one black man, not a privleged black man, not a rich black man but just a man can do!
Roc and New York Undercover?! Shame on 🦊!!!! 🤬
Yup!
Great video. R.O.C was ahead of its time. Its hard to have shows that tackle social issues.
Thanks for watching! ❤️
Why you think FX had Pose ended?
FOX had a lot of shows in the 90s with people of color- ROC, MARTIN, NY UNDERCOVER, LIVING SINGLE, MADtv, SOUTH CENTRAL, IN LIVING COLOR, just to name a few. They were very diverse compared to the other networks. Some shows lasted longer than others. Seems like the ones that had a deeper subject matter were taken off the air way 2 soon. What a shame!
NBC was better than FOX.
Sinbad show with ray j
I was surprised about South Central, it was really good in ‘94.
That was such a good show....I think networks detest seeing black positive male role models , father's and the likes. Just a productive black family unit is an issue. We already don't have enough as it is and pushing any negative stereotype that's against us is better for them in a sense.
Of course. They vested in rap and pro sports. They want to use our bodies. Not our brains!!!
Sad but all so true!
I still watch it over and over again. ❤ 2024
I still watch this show on BET Plus every night, *FAITHFULLY*
❤️❤️❤️
This show was really good! Terrence Got A Gun is an episode that still haunts me to this day.
I remember when this show came out in the 90’s every Sunday night 8:30pm it was a good show and it should have continue .
We agree and thanks for watching ❤
Fox Sunday nights were awesome in the early '90s.
This was one of the best shows on TV, it is so sad that every time there is a positive black show on TV the networks claim there are low ratings. Being a buffoon is and always will be regarded as entertainment.
Being from Baltimore, I was so excited when this show started. A very classy and thought provoking show.
My mom use to watch Frank place back in the days it didn't stay on too long

There was also a show called South Central that was also good. I don't think that show even lasted a season if I remember.
Kudos, Mr. Charles Dutton for standing up and standing STRONG. That show needed to be shown especially amidst the black struggle.
Thank y'all for doing this! It's interesting, I stumbled upon reruns of Roc late one night on one of our local channels and it's amazing how well the episodes hold up, even today. So much respect for Charles Dutton standing his ground with the network and keeping it real on the show
Thanks for watching ❤
I think a show like Roc would do well now with everything that’s going on
Alot of 90s shows were ahead of their time and I wish I could definitely go back to the 90s myself.
This show positively highlighted my hometown of Baltimore, which I appreciated.
THANK U RRG for putting a spotlight on works of art and people of color that often get overlooked. Shows like ROC and the short lived SOUTH CENTRAL were powerful and very much needed. KEEP 'EM COMING!!!!!
Thanks for watching! ❤️
What was South Central about? I remember it, and forgot about it until it was brought up, but I never watched it.

ROC was one of my favorite shows.. Charles Dutton, Carl, Ella Joyce and Rocky Carroll were so underrated and unappreciated. Network TV wasn't ready for the topics they tackled. They were pioneers.
Disappointed but not shock. This show was amazing. Still one of my favorites.
The live episodes were stellar!! The realness of the cast was amazing to watch. I appreciate it now more than then because we all lived thru those social issues and it was like everyday life for some. It highlighted black middle class life. To me Florida and James walked so the cast of Roc could run. We need this show right now!
I do not recall any petitions about Roc. I certainly would've signed it.
We need a reboot, I'll even take a reunion just to hear everyone's side
Reunion, DEFINITELY. A reboot? Hell no!
Beautiful to see & hear a black actor standing by his principles. Much respect to Charles S. Dutton-what an Inspiration.

@@Chuck_EL Didn’t Living Single have a good run? Thought that was on for a decent amount of time.

🎵" Live Your Life Today, Not for Tomorrow!" This was such a groundbreaking show. I loved it! It tackled so many social issues. I don't care what movie Charles S. Dutton is in, I will always know him as "Roc".
Loved that theme song by En Vogue!!!!
And for those who say we need our own Black networks, we had them, but unfortunately, white networks always take them over or black networks have to sell to white networks.
and it was the first show to actually film in a live studio audience...that was a very groundbreaking thing..
I grew up watching you Sir!...thank you very much 💎
Exactly the way Fox was described on The Simpsons. Bart hit it right on the head! Loosely quoted: "you know when you sign a deal with Fox network you're going to be exploited ,cheated and thrown out!" 😱😤🤷🏾💯💯😵
Bart said that??? LOL
The Simpsons always threw jabs at the Fox network. Married with children used to do it also. It was a running gag for a while. Haha
Every channel today exploits black people. Every single of them. There’s nothing more raunchy than reality shows, black folks making buffoons of themselves for giggles from ignorant people who watch that trash.

@@ryanmartin73 those comical prophecies 😱💯💯🤣
After viewing this UA-cam snippet, all I can say, KUDO MY BROTHER.. I never understood why they think THEY could tell OUR stories better than us...
I loved the sitcom Roc, so glad this young man was able to turn his life around
I wish this was on home video.i still watch this on fave tv on late weekday mornings.
Classic show.. Should've never went off the air.. We need shows like this now
Roc is my favorite childhood sitcom.
Maybe you should stop killing each other before you start worry about what whitey thinks
Another thing is l believe fox didn't promote black shows to give an excuse to cancel due to low ratings... 🙄
The same scenario with Mr. John Amos 15 years prior with Good Times. Salute to Mr. Charles Dutton , Rock !!!

His character (crazy George) was really immature and he was kind of taking over to show on some Steve urkel type shyt. I understand that Jamie was just doing his thing but that's simply wasn't the direction that Charles doesn't wanted to go
Dutton was the Truth and still has a lot in the tank for American Entertainment
Loved that show as a kid. When I saw him in Alien 3 I remember shouting "HEY IT'S ROC!!!" He will always be Roc to me.

Very true given that Disney now owns Fox entertainment industry.Trump might had taken the rest of FOX.

Mr. Seymore. Just curious. Do you *not* watch Fox TV at all? Not even for their MLB Baseball or NFL coverage including the Super Bowl every 3-4 years?
But is something wrong with that? At the end of the day it’s a business and the Network & Execs need to return healthy profits. Morally, socially & ethically it may not be good but from a pragmatic profit perspective, it is what the ultimate goal is. I love Dutton for standing his ground and maintaining for integrity and pushing for real issues on the show. And he’d rather be canceled than show something that’s non-value-adding.
