Just two shows in 2020, both in the south of the country. I'm told they are having trouble finding promoters elsewhere. What?
I wrote to their management and that was their reply. I think the problem is that the LG Arena and Manchester Arena are too big and they probably lost money last time. They need smaller venues, 10,000 capacity or so, which don't exist, or play two nights at a larger city centre venue, which they probably won't do. I wrote to Manchester Arena all the same and asked them to book them. Suggest you do the same in Birmingham? Make a case. not just a plea!
I love how Nightwish actually look like they're having fun on the stage. I think that's the most important aspect for any live performing band, that they actually enjoy it themselves.
True, im not that big of a Depeche Mode fan BUT when they where around they where one of the best live performance band around and whether you liked their music or not you really ENJOYED their on stage performance + like Bruce the Boss their performances could be REALLY long 2½ hour to 3 hours where not uncommon

At one point the whole band left the stage and he himself stood there with just a accoustic guitar playing covers songs from the beatles and if remember correctly Dire Straits and others. I will never forget that and the whole stadium (50.000 people) was just mesmerized. Man that was just magical. I have been to 4 other concerts from him but they were always about 3 hours long.
She is a brilliant vocalist. I love the darkness of rock opera. But so beautiful. These guys are the best. It's like they invented a new genre. Very enjoyable, refreshing change and yet so familiar. Been done but not on this scale before.

I haven’t heard Annette’s version so no opinion about that but this version of Floor is fantastic. She sounds dark and knows exactectly when to use the darkness in her voice and when not. I know for shure that Floor studies the lyrics of every song and knows when to give rhe right amount of emotion at the right time in the song. That is not just singing a song that is singing on a high trained level with this incredible good band besides her. This makes Nightwish so so good. I’ve heard Tarja’s songs and love specially Walking In The Air. That song was made for Tarja but Floor….wow, you are perfect for Nightwish. Perfect match. What a highly skilled band. I love them! ❤️

When the Dark Passion Play album was released, I used to listen to the Instrumental version of Saraha cause I was not liking the singing parts so much, but I just wanted to listen to the instrumental composition that I thought was terrific. But oh god I love this now!!!
Same here, DPP & Imaginaerum I mostly listen to the instrumental versions which makes the listener appreciate more the orchestra, choir, & the instrument solos of each member. Annette honestly has a very soothing & lovely voice for the ballad songs. Ballads suits more her voice than the metal songs.

There's no comparison possible. Floor mops the floor with both of them. Vocal range, technique, power, stamina, stage presence, charisma, leadership, actitud, humbleness. If anything bad is she couldn't join earlier.

This is one of the things that I love so much about Nightwish: most bands only use guitars and drums. Nightwish is not afraid to experiment with other, more exotic instruments. Really nice performance!
It's a shame that they can't get a huge venue like they do in other countries. American radio sucks and most people have never heard of Nightwish because American radio sucks.
When I listen to songs like Sahara, 7 Days To The Wolves, I Want My Tears Back, Last Ride Of The Day, and especially The Poet And The Pendulum with Floor Jansen as singer I can't help but wonder if Tuomas had Floor's voice in his mind when he composed most of the songs of DPP and Imaginaerum. Floor raises the songs from these two albums to a whole different level. It's amazing, and I'm so glad to be able to listen to these live versions.
As much as Floor is a complete, and total bad ass, Kai is awesome! His consistency, his timing, is absolutely amazing! When I was touring, I was privileged to play with two great drummers... And I'll tell you, if you don't have a good drummer it ruins everything! But, even though they were great drummers, we still messed with them, you know the stupid jokes, "What do you call someone who hangs around four musicians... A drummer. lol Or, "What was the first thing that was said after the drummer said they had an idea... You're fired. lmao I would have never even contemplated telling such a joke if I had the privilege of playing with such a great musician as Kai Hahto. And Nightwish is child's play for this man... The band had a lot of wisdom when they brought in Floor, Troy, and eventually Kai. The line up is fantastic! Nightwish has never kicked so much ass:)

you're not alone in that request. In their current "Decades" tour they are playing a lot of songs who have been played for ages and they are going to release a live cd/dvd from this tour. I guess this is close as we are going to get to see that wish granted.
This proves why Americans are too conservative when it comes to music. Well Americans are too conservative about most everything but the subject is music in this post. Nightwish has been around for 2 decades and yet in the USA they are way too little known and only play in clubs that are 3000 to as little as 500 in capacity. Nightwish is basically a cult following in the USA while in Europe they play in sold out arenas and stadiums and also are bigger in Latin American countries and starting to get big in Asia, especially in Japan. While these Americans are cool that love Nightwish there are far too few of them. Your average American can't get past the classic rock and classic metal stuff and your average American likes new bands to sound very similar to these classic rock and metal bands. Like I said the average American is way too conservative with music and only a small few will follow symphonic metal, death metal, folk metal, pagan folk and many other genres or mixes of genres. The average American typically likes their bands to sound like Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Def Leppard, Metallica or many of the other bands that they listen to on their classic rock radio stations.
I don't think it was only that. Classic Nightwish while being classical opera style was a bit too disconnected (tone wise she was hard to understand) to gain much traction in my opinion. Annette was short-lived but I heard her on the radio more than Tarja though I agree the live performances often made me cringe but a small number were amazingly clear and well done. Got to see them live with Floor in Phoenix and enjoyed the performance.
I like Floor better than Tarja but I still love those years of Nightwish with Tarja. Even if you are not a fan of Tarja you have to like that in her solo career that she got deep lyrically in many of her songs. She isn't this shit like we have heard from the hair bands in the 1980s and some modern rock bands like the Struts recently where their lyrics about sex, sex and more sex and partying, partying and more partying. I think Sahara tends to run under the radar. I just love those chord progressions and key changes. They give so much character to this song.

As much as Floor is a complete, and total bad ass, Kai is awesome! His consistency, his timing, is absolutely amazing! When I was touring, I was privileged to play with two great drummers... And I'll tell you, if you don't have a good drummer it ruins everything! But, even though they were great drummers, we still messed with them, you know the stupid jokes, "What do you call someone who hangs around four musicians... A drummer. lol Or, "What was the first thing that was said after the drummer said they had an idea... You're fired. lmao
I would have never even contemplated telling such a joke if I had the privilege of playing with such a great musician as Kai Hahto. And Nightwish is child's play for this man... The band had a lot of wisdom when they brought in Floor, Troy, and eventually Kai. The line up is fantastic! Nightwish has never kicked so much ass:)

One of my favorite Nightwish songs for running. I just saw Nightwish in ATL live and Floor was most impressive...maybe they will go redo some old stuff with floor in studio.
you're not alone in that request. In their current "Decades" tour they are playing a lot of songs who have been played for ages and they are going to release a live cd/dvd from this tour. I guess this is close as we are going to get to see that wish granted.

This proves why Americans are too conservative when it comes to music. Well Americans are too conservative about most everything but the subject is music in this post. Nightwish has been around for 2 decades and yet in the USA they are way too little known and only play in clubs that are 3000 to as little as 500 in capacity. Nightwish is basically a cult following in the USA while in Europe they play in sold out arenas and stadiums and also are bigger in Latin American countries and starting to get big in Asia, especially in Japan. While these Americans are cool that love Nightwish there are far too few of them. Your average American can't get past the classic rock and classic metal stuff and your average American likes new bands to sound very similar to these classic rock and metal bands. Like I said the average American is way too conservative with music and only a small few will follow symphonic metal, death metal, folk metal, pagan folk and many other genres or mixes of genres. The average American typically likes their bands to sound like Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Def Leppard, Metallica or many of the other bands that they listen to on their classic rock radio stations.
I don't think it was only that. Classic Nightwish while being classical opera style was a bit too disconnected (tone wise she was hard to understand) to gain much traction in my opinion. Annette was short-lived but I heard her on the radio more than Tarja though I agree the live performances often made me cringe but a small number were amazingly clear and well done. Got to see them live with Floor in Phoenix and enjoyed the performance.
I like Floor better than Tarja but I still love those years of Nightwish with Tarja. Even if you are not a fan of Tarja you have to like that in her solo career that she got deep lyrically in many of her songs. She isn't this shit like we have heard from the hair bands in the 1980s and some modern rock bands like the Struts recently where their lyrics about sex, sex and more sex and partying, partying and more partying. punk 2008 I will have to take another look at her solo career. The lyrics in My Winter Storm weren't that impressive to me but I hope the quality has improved.
