Don't have a video up yet! Technology is moving a bit too fast to do older vehicles. A lot of the features work the same way though, they may just look different or be different to get to.
I get why BMW called the five 0 five hand gesture five 0 five because you are basically saying 505 with that hand gesture when you put your hand in front of BMW’s iDrive 8 infotainment system or in other words putting your hand in front of the touchscreen and you can program that five 0 five hand gesture to do what ever you want it to do
Correct, I found using these gestures to be tagged with a shortcut to work the absolute best. Say for example you could have 505 to be a shortcut that goes to your favorite radio station.
I am in a country where my BMW app is not available, how will I get the best experience from my BMW without the my BMW app? Are there other ways to set me up, I just got the 2023 X7 by the way and this will be my first experience with a BMW
Congrats on the X7. One of the biggest things about it would be remote engine start if your country allows it. If it does, this is done by pressing lock 3 times. The other features of the app just give details about the vehicle such as fuel level, how far you can travel, if all the doors are locked, etc. You can see service intervals but that you can just go into "vehicle status" and get the same info. You can also call roadside assistance from the SOS button above you without using the app as well. The biggest one is remote start. If you don't have that to begin with, you're not missing out on much.
Thanks for this. You showed iDrive 8.5 is a little better than iDrive 8. The next step for BMW is to bring back iDrive 7 with physical buttons that cut our button-pushing in half. BMW can rename it iDrive 9. In aviation there is a concept of minimizing cockpit workload. Having to push buttons just to get to other buttons, as BMW makes you do in iDrive 8 & 8.5, goes against that concept, makes a driver less safe, and is ridiculous. A triumph of form over substance.
How does BMW define "end of trip" for the auto unlocking? I have looked and looked and can't find any definitions of this. I mean don't you usually put the car in park at the end of the trip? I don't understand the difference.
I believe you mentioned this is a plug in hybrid? I know this may be defeating the purpose of the hybrid. But if I get lazy of charging the battery, I can keep the gas tank full while ignoring the depleted battery and still drive the car.
Occasionally it's ok but doing it all the time will cause more wear and tear on the battery. I wouldn't recommend doing it often, especially if you plan on keeping the car for a long time.
@@BeamerViewHow long a fully charged battery last? Can I switch between battery and gas or is it an automatic function? Say I'm driving to Vegas 200 miles
I can’t believe there’s no way to have both mirrors swivel down in reverse. Also they tilt down too much when you’re starting farther away. That’s probably the only feature I liked better on my Cadillac
I believe you cannot keep it in place. It will have to move along with the others to the right of it. Only this iDrive 8.5 version you can keep that widget all by itself.
the way he adjusted his mirrors is the proper way they used to teach back in the day - you don't need to see your car - you need to see the other guy ... of course driver education is USA is awful if at all which is part of the reason the death toll continues to climb even with all the safety features - and of course booze and drugs - 66 people per day last year killed in USA
Try checking the driver profile settings and make sure the designated keys are connected to the right profile. If that doesn't work try re-adding the profiles with one key inside for each different profile.

I know the M displays come with a completely different look. If you've already tried what I did in the video the next best option would be to go into the display settings and see if you can change anything there.
What about earlier owners??
Don't have a video up yet! Technology is moving a bit too fast to do older vehicles. A lot of the features work the same way though, they may just look different or be different to get to.
This reminds me of a little kid's video game. Insane how evil the new technology invades car industry🤔
It's taking over !
That's correct. End of trip means when the vehicle goes into park.
@@BeamerView so why are they 2 separate settings if they do the same thing?
I wish there was an option to just never lock it while driving
Yes it was always only able to on 1 side unfortunately.
How do i enlarge and keep the 1st widget in place while scrolling thru all the other widgets that are to the right of it. 2023 330i with idrive8
I believe you cannot keep it in place. It will have to move along with the others to the right of it. Only this iDrive 8.5 version you can keep that widget all by itself.
@@BeamerView OK, thanks for answering
the way he adjusted his mirrors is the proper way they used to teach back in the day - you don't need to see your car - you need to see the other guy ... of course driver education is USA is awful if at all which is part of the reason the death toll continues to climb even with all the safety features - and of course booze and drugs - 66 people per day last year killed in USA
Thanks for backing me up! Yes I do believe driving schools need to be more tough, we have too many dumb drivers on the road lol!
#1 turn off motion controls. #2 turn of motion controls. #3 turn off motion controls 🤣
Especially if you talk with your hands a lot =)
I set my speed warning to 150mph and it’s definitely reduced the number of police chases I get into
Haha!
X5 with out adaptive cruise control...
Drivers assistance Pro, should be available.
My friends i4 has it on steering wheel the middle buttons.
I don’t have this updated I drive
Only available to some models
why is it not auto detecting me and the wife?! goes to guest mode :(
Try checking the driver profile settings and make sure the designated keys are connected to the right profile. If that doesn't work try re-adding the profiles with one key inside for each different profile.
I really appreciate the content of your videos but your hand gestures are distracting
Thanks for the feedback!
You need to see your car in the mirror, if someone is trying to pass you, and they are behind you, you need to be able to see it.
Also, it makes your blind spot worse.
Good points! Most cars have blind spot warning so it helps a lot in that sense!
Your voice is too fast for my ears!
You can slow down the video by pressing the gear icon.
Give me the 2020 and later dash... this is so trash.
Those had it's perks!
horrible displays. horrible dashboard "design". it is disgusting to see what car interiors do look like in this day and age. the z4 m40i interior seems to be the last evolutionary step i am able to accept.
Takes sometime getting use to.
Non M-Sport 🤢
Gotta have M-Sport!!
Learned nothing.
Thanks for watching!
Check out the BMW accessories. Are you having a laugh mate??? Don’t you think bmw is expensive enough without buying more of their overpriced stuff..
It's never enough =)
