  • We are all familiar with the #XG-7# #XG-9#, #XG-1#, #XG-M#, #X-700#, #X-570#, #X-370# camera series. But what about that final X series camera that minolta interrupted to concentrate all resources on developing the Maxxim series first generation auto-focus camera. Today we are going to take a close look at what was happening in those days and entertain some conjecture on what the minolta X-900 would have looked like.
What do you think? Should minolta have continued development of manual focus cameras? Would you have wanted a minolta Pro camera wrapped in titanium? The Maxxim line was both a short term blessing and a long term curse to the company. Did minolta alienate their most loyal customers? Could an X-900 Ti have saved minolta?

Thanks for sharing this. I love learning about the history and tactics of the camera companies. You have a great selection of cameras BTW! My collection from that era is about a quarter in number and in terms of status, they are 1/3 of a Junior Burger in comparison! … X-300, Canon FT, Minolta MAXXUM 7000, Ricoh GR-10, Minolta SRT-303b, etc…!

Well, my collection started back in the 1970;s so I have a head start on you. I also own a Nikon D-5200 and a couple of point-and-shoot digitals. Everything else are vintage film , manual focus cameras. Thanks for visiting and leaving a message.
