Honestly, I'd rather a good replica. Don't need to worry about putting miles on, easier to fix than the real ones generally, and you can modify as you see fit.
That'd actually be a great idea for one of these replica shows. Get the real car and put it in with the replicas and let people try to guess which is the real one
I would honestly love a replica kit car. It's just cool to have and shows how much you love a certain car. Some people might talk shit, but your the one having all the fun and getting all the looks.
for me these shows are not so much about the cars, but the fact that some replicas actually turn out better than the original, and it celebrates the builders rather than the cars themselves.
I have never laughed so hard by myself along with the comments too. But in all honesty it’s hats off to these folks, some of these are actually really convincing

Cobra and GT40 replicas are legit, the rest are deeply tragic. I’ve seen a cobra Daytona coupe replica that was pretty damn good. Sticking shitty body panels on an MR2 or MX5 is a crime against humanity.
I totally understand the motivation and reasoning behind building a high quality replica of an unobtanium car like the Shelby Cobra. On the other hand, I am at a complete loss when it comes to these modern Ferrari replicas based on cheap cars with body kits and horrendous interiors... 1. It will not drive like a Ferrari or anything close to it. 2. You can't even pretend that you are in a Ferrari, as the interiors look like utter crap. 3. The exterior will only fool most people at 50 yards away. So for what reason do you have a car like that?
Some of these are good Ferrari replicas, even the interior was replicated. But yeah, the Ferrari is all about engine sound. Although, I’ve seen some modern cars with installed sound system, that replicates the agressive sound of the engine (to the driver from the inside and to the people nearby from the outside). Oh yes, and fake aggressive exhaust tips with nothing inside ( I can recall only Lexus, but 100% other car manufacturers doing this as well)
All of the SWB 250’s you see racing at Goodwood are replicas. There’s apparently a gentleman’s agreement that goes - someone who owns a real once can race the replica so the real one doesn’t get damaged. Kind of makes sense but they should make it clear.
I attended this show on the Sunday as I was at the Complete Kit Car track day at Blyton Park. It was a good turnout and the auto jumble I thought was pretty good. I came from mainstream cars (fast fords) to take up the challenge of building my MK Indy RX5 7 Style kit, I love it so far, unfortunately still not finished but not far to go :D
@@TheTopG420 Ive already own a few potential donor cars with little to no important rust issues (beetle, MX5's and an old 944 turbo), Kinda like the idea of building my own tubular chassis, but most likely end up with something like the Exocet chassis as I don't really have the time to both fabricate it and go through the pain of getting it approved for UK roads. Been there before and it was a bit of a nightmare.
Ahhhh, that brought back memories from the late 80's & 90's. I used to take my kit cars to Stoneleigh & Newark every year. We had such a great time and made many friends at those events (some of whom I am still in touch with). The red car at 6:14 that you couldn't identify was an Eagle SS.
The great things about kit cars in the UK is that when the insurance forms ask is it modified you can say no legally! And that shirt was a lot louder in person than the camera gives credit!
