"Warsaw" is a song by the English rock band Joy Division. It was originally recorded in May 1978 and released as a single in 1979. However, the song was written and performed by the band when they were still known as Warsaw, before they changed their name to Joy Division. Regarding some of the comentators here....Yes, we lived then and there- most of us had no choice but to carry on. Communism....was our limitation....on so many levels.... We did the best we could.

To dziwne, że po kilku latach ci normalni ludzie się już tak wkurwili, że wyszli na ulice.
@@misiukisiu.. właśnie dlatego wyszli, bo byli normalni... Na początku lat 80tych, kiedy Ameryka nałożyła na nasz socjalistyczny rząd embargo, zrobiło się nienormalnie...rządowi tym embargiem krzywdy nie zrobiła, oni wszyscy doskonale się urządzili w nowych realiach lat 90tych...skrzywdzone w większości zostało społeczeństwo...uczciwi, normalni ludzie myślą uczciwymi kategoriami, nie przyszło im do głowy, że zostaną oszukani...zrobiło się gorzej niż za PRL-u... proszę popytać Dziadków, jak to naprawdę było...
Woda sodowa z sokiem malinowym ... pycha ... za 20 groszy.
Jedna szklanka, czasami na łańcuchu potrafiła obsłużyć tysiące spragnionych dziennie, zwiększając jednocześnie odporność immunologiczną społeczeństwa ... i to za jedyne 20 groszy!
Z sokiem kosztowała złotówkę a za te grosze była czysta gazówka. A łańcuchy przy szklankach były w automatach.
Pawilony - to były marzenia co tam można było kupić

There was. In 1970, when Edward Gierek came to power, modernization and sort of (very limited) "westernization" begun in Poland and Coke was part of it. Out of the whole period of Communism in Poland (1944 - 1989), the first half of 70's was maybe the most "pleasant" time. Sadly it was mostly at the cost of making huge debts without changes in economic policy, which later ended up with a big crisis.

My auntie used to go to Poland for Chopin's festival every year in the 1970s and she said there were many French made goods, especially clothes that were super cheap when compared to the same clothes sold in France. She was very impressed by this. She loved Polish people and Poland in general.
@@zl8018Well preceded before 1970, I would think. My mother was born in '59 and remembers drinking coke for the first time around the age of 7 at a city cafe.
@@mfloyd1556 I was born in '59 too :) and I remember introducing coke at the beginning of 70's as quite an event. However I don't exclude the possibility of serving it in some cafe (rather an exclusive one) in 60s, but for sure it wasn't widely available then.

Those were beautiful times. And I will always repeat with my beloved Grandfather that socialism is a perfect system, but people are not suitable for it because most of them are too greedy, for everything. If they were so "greedy" for good, friendly and helpful relationships with each other, then the world would be a paradise...

The everlasting problem of socialist poland was the agricultural sector; the govt never quite managed to modernize it so you had a feudal system in the countryside and a socialist one in the urban areas. How can you feed your people when the productivity is so low?

Just the opposite, thanks to the small private farms there was food to be bought on street markets. And it was all organic farming with a plethora of heritage varieties of fruits and vegetables. The government run communal farms were bleeding money, producing little and of poor quality as workers had no incentive to increase production.

Sporo za pisu gdzies wyniesiono. Znajomy ktory oraciwal w archiwum tvp chowak te materialy. Sporo dokumentow pokazuje zycie odmienne od tego co obecnie mowia o prlu.
@@tmlodzik Nie wiem jak z PiS-em, ale sporo to dopiero wyniósł sobie Urban z ekipy antygierkowskiej. Na pierwszy rzut oka tego nie widać, ale w całym internecie ze świecą szukać Dziennika Telewizyjnego z lat 70.
Nie ogladales polskich kronik filmowych, jest ich cale zatrzesienie.

Nam pozostały Kroniki Filmowe, a brytyjczycy nagrali sobie to. Co w tym dziwnego?
