In this video I continue going after the perfect board game collection with taking out 12(!) board games and bringing in 12 new ones..
Also, I'm adding a new chapter to this monthly series that is called I"LL BE BACK(ing) which is me presenting to you a project that I have decided to back this month and why am I doing it.

Europa Universalis left my collection by a tannerite explosion. Every year, on July 4th, I blow up the game that pissed me off or infuriated me the most. I started that tradition with Aeon Trespass Odyssey and it was incredibly satisfying seeing it and all its successors being blown to smithereens. 😁
It amazes me how much I agree with your assessments of the other games. I kept Horrified in the collection specifically as a light, introduction game for new players and also generally for Halloween.
I haven't had my grubbies on Fractured Sky yet but was thinking about backing the reprint. It doesn't look like I will, as I seem unable to come to an actual conclusion about it.
Scarface 1920 is simply awesome.
The Ethernaut was an easy back. I am very intrigued by it.

Love thisnidea of exploding games that pissed me off! Maybe I should it aswell..? 🤔 Maybe not with Europa Universalis since with the money I can get 2-3 other good games 😅

If it wasn't SO expensive I would say you can try Fractured Sky.. but 180€?! That's just crazy. I think it won't hold its value and you'll be able to buy a copy for much cheaper. I sold mine for 145€ and I think prices will go down.
Have you backed the expansions for Scarface? I got really into the game 🤩

Horrified (original one) comes out maybe 2-4 times a year. It's a fixed staple for Halloween but also, and I kidd you not, a classic for Purim. Yes I know this is weird but weird is kind of the theme of my life. 🤷🏻♂️
Scarface 1930 - Bloody Business is highly anticipated. Should be arriving soon.
Fractured Sky is indeed expensive. This usually isn't a deterrent per se, but in this case there is still a large question mark in regard to actual gameplay and long term appeal. The possibility of an acquisition is also currently being discussed with my gaming club but there is also no clear opinion as of yet.
There is an absolutely enormous amount of games in the shipping / fulfillment pipeline right now, both for me and the club, and it causes some severe hesitations atm.
Second hand market for Fractured Sky is absurdly overpriced, it will be interesting to see what impact the new campaign will have.
Gloomhaven / Frosthaven are not my cup of tea at all and I never played This War of Mine, although it's on my to do list.
Edit: In case you are curious for what will get blown up this year, atm the primary contender is "An Age Contrived".
@@Biodelic oh my God! Horrified for Halloween/Purim- love the idea!! and for horrified to come out 2-4 times per year is legit. for me, since I try to keep it at 100 games, I don't feel it should take a space on my shelf.

Yeah, really no rush on Fractured Sky. I saw someone is selling the super deluxe (should have called it super expensive) for 250$ WTF?! not worth it.. and in general the painted minis are not that different than the normal minis in the simple deluxe edition.
Gloomhaven is one of the games that have a special place in my heart, but one day it will have to go.. This War of Mine is incredible. I should definitely play it more because the way the story is written is just amazing. the best I've ever seen! I would suggest to give it a go
@@ezbgames For Scarface 1920, here is something crazy to try but it works really, really well. Get yourself (late pledge is still open, costs €4.-) a 2nd copy of the solo deck cards. Then play it solo vs. 2 AI. It is absolutely amazing. It plays and feels like a real 3 player game. And it is just the right amount of difficult and challenging.
Vs 3 AIs is nearly impossible to win but makes for an impressive experience. The AI system is that good and cleverly designed.

About the Twilight Struggle for me is a meh game... It's a game that shines after multiple plays. I just don't sell it because it's in my language (Portuguese) 😂

First of all, as I've said in the video, Nemesis should arrive to my collection next week.. Lords of Ragnarok and Witcher Old World were in my collection and left. I did a review for Lords of Ragnarok so feel free to check it out, but basically I was very disappointed from it. Witcher was just a mess on the table. I think that only the base game is not good enough and I would never play it with more than 2 players. So you have to add the expansions.. already not a good start for me when it comes to a game..
ISS Vanguard will probably never get into my collection because it is a narrative story driven game that I've stopped getting after playing (and disliking) Sleeping Gods, Etherfields and Tainted Grail. I guess it's just not for me :)
Rising Sun I should definitely get and try! I agree 100%
Dune: War for Arrakis is super expensive at the moment. I don't see myself spending 400 euros for it.. But I'll keep my eyes open of course. Cyclades will be in my collection the moment the Kickstarter will reach the backers..

You know what? I went all crazy on Final Girl and bought the first 2 seasons aaaaaaand played it twice and sold it. I LOVE solo games but Final Girl also did not click with me. The "idea" of playing a game and enjoying it can be so insidious sometimes, right? Gets me into trouble all the time.
Weirdly enough I've played Voidfall WAY more as a solo game than FInal Girl, despite the barriers that Voidfall has. Just goes to show you that the BGG charts and influencers don't know what's best for YOU specifically. I've found I don't vibe with a lot of what's in the BGG Top 100, and that's okay. I still can't understand why so many people want to sit down and play Brass...
Edit: Also made a massive mistake snagging a copy of Fractured Sky :(
And super keen to hear your thoughts of Civilization! Always been interesting in that. Though I feel like it would be hard to de-throne Clash of Cultures.

I agree with you 100% and this is why I'm starting to take out of my collection games that are highly ranked. They're just not for me.. this video was very exciting to do bwcause I never took out so many games at one time.

I dont know if you mentioned it at the beginning of this series, but is your group only heavy gamers similar to you? Do you have a need to keep interesting gateway game in your collection as options or it's not something you need to worry about?
Dead of winter was my 2nd love in board game but also my first breakup. At some point, you just realized the game is just balanced to punish you as much as possible, the traitor can just sit bad and relax for an easy win most time and there's not a whole lot of interesting choice.
I definitely didn't mention it and it's a good question.
My group also plays only heavy board games. There was a time when I felt the need to keep gateway games if I would have non-heavy or non-board gameers, or even something I can play with my girlfriend.
But with time I understood that I don't want to keep games just incase something happens, you know? My girlfriend doesn't play often, non board gamers friends (what a shock) don't want to play often etc..
So in my collection I have here and there games that are not so heavy like Pagan Fate of Roanoke or even Divide et Impera which is a fun and quick area control. I feel that even heavy games can become sort of 'lighter' with the right explanation. So I'm not afraid of teaching a non board gamer games like Terrorscape (which is a light game to start with) or even This War of Mine.
I agree with what you're saying about Dead of Winter. It's a nice cool game to have when you're starting, but at some point you're like 'I think there are better games out there' totally understand you.
@@ezbgames Ah that's good. I also try to keep my collection in check by culling similar games or unpopular game, but I do play sometimes with family and keep a few gateway / beginner friendly games such as Catan, marvel united, king of NY... Definitely tricky, I don't want to lose too much space for the frequency non board gamers play, but I don't think they are ready for anything else xD

I would say that 30-40% of the games coming in are non-euro games. But in anycase that's a positive change already 🤣
