5:48 I love how, for the lightning resistant enemies, theres:
- Draconic tree sentinels, yep makes sense
- Ancient dragons, yeah that's their thing
- Beastmen, yeah they're very close to the ancient dragons
- And boat man
Hey, they had to give poor mariner boi something
But the Mariner sits in water all the time, his wooden seat must be extra insulating
For some reason, Placidusax's Lightning negation isn't any higher than their other elemental negations. Their technically not considered an Ancient Dragon either, so stuff like Dragonwound Grease doesn't effect them either.
Fr, the ONE GUY IN WATER is resistant to LIGHTNING 💀💀
Boat man is just the goat
don’t worry about the meta..use what looks cool or is fun
Yes!! My Occult Spectral Lance throwing Jar-barian was ridiculous fun and absolutely nowhere near a META
YES! Finally someone who understands! I use the crystal sword not because it’s good or anything, I just like using it! :D
I've always played every game like this 🤭
If you wanna suffer as well sometimes its fun
Yeah its fun but it would be more fun if some bosses werent almost immune to it
Bosses: But we're resistant to holy!
The Chad Longhorn: Lol get bubbled
Bubbles don't care about your puny resistances!
The long horn absolutely shreds bosses. It's so powerful that it actually makes me laugh.
And then it got nerfed-
@@KatrinaAmaxas has anybody tested how bad yet?

Really hard
Hands down best damage per fp ratio
Yep, I started to use it even with my sorcerer. The fp cost is so low it's more efficient than all my sorceries.
I just wish I didn't have to put points into intelligence for it
@@Alt0001 Reject faith builds, run 45/45 with golden order seal and melt the world
I've used it recently and is ridiculous, 800+ damage for 3 fp hello ? Top 10 incantationsif not better for sure golden order seal is also soo underrated, i Guess is due to almost nobody going for a faith inteligence build
Sorry can’t get my hand down bc I’m busy throwing discuses
I ran a holy build, incantations, holy weapons, holy infused weapons, etc
The only time I actually stopped using holy damage was against the final boss, 80 holy resistance
I'm trying to make a paladin type build using holy incantations but idk what incantations and weapons would be really good and fit the theme can you give some advice?
@@HalcyonEXOrdovis sword seems pretty paladin to me incantations i can’t help with i don’t usually use it
@@HalcyonEX I pretty much did this for new game plus so I had access to many holy items once I started since you have access to so many of them mid to late game
You could switch between the Golden Order and Erdtree seals
I used many incantations like discus of light, Radagon's rings of light, triple rings of light, Law of regression to remove poison/scarlet rot (tho that requires a lot of intelligence), erdtree heal, Golden Vow, etc (Sometimes Elden Stars, they're not powerful but fun to use)
Holy Weapons: Coded Sword, Golden Order Greatsword, Cipher Pata, all 3 Envoy Horns, the Crucible knight's Greatsword, Great Club, the scythe used by Cleanrot Knights, Marika's Hammer, Sacred Relic Sword, etc
Ashes of War for ordinary weapons: Sacred blade, Golden Land, or adding the sacred affinity
Talismans: Sacred Scorpion Charm, flock's canvas talisman, the rest are your choice
Crystal Tear: Holy Shrouding Cracked Tear, Faith Knot Crystal Tear
I used many of the incantations listed, but when it came to weapons, I used a Zweihander with Golden Land, The Golden Order Greatsword as it was great for knocking enemies down, the Envoy Longhorn to take down giant bosses (Killed Placidusax is about 15 seconds)
Holy damage isn't great but it's so fun to use, I hope it gets more love in the DLC
@@cheese4434 thx
@@HalcyonEXyou might have to take a dip into intelligence but if you do you can get access to the golden order incantations like Golden Rings of Light and Discus of Light, which are all holy incantations
The release of the DLC would be a great time to release a patch that makes holy damage less resisted, especially from things like the revenants
I know that the devs will be releasing patch notes after the dlc drops, so maybe they can look into adjusting pre existing holy weapons, skills, incantations, etc(basically holy damage in general). It’s sad that holy damage is as bad as it is(considering it is used by the same God that rules over the lands between).
Well looking at those spells that are so strong, discus and hammer, relic sword maybe and the bubbles, maybe they are the reason why holy is so nerfed.
Has FromSoftware ever patched an enemy's resistance in the past 15 years?
Something i find odd is that while holy damage is bad, destined death is so good.. while if you didnt know destined death is coded as holy damage and (at least the black blade incantation) is in fact buffable by things like the holy scorpion talisman
@@RougeMephilesClonewell honestly they should, they should be adjusting scaling mistakes based on their given lore when they are found rather than just letting them be in the game. It makes no sense. Spells can have many different damage types which is fine but sorcerers only really having magic is just completely dumb, while faith has every type of damage in the game. Int/fth is also practically impossible given fromsoftwares negligence when designing it and the weapons around it. Elden Rings weapons are a bit of a mess sometimes
To me, holy damage has been a means of complimenting my flame art weapons on faith build. For example, volcano manor's lizard men and fire giant are resistant to fire, so I used coded sword on them.
Until the Godskins who are uniquely resistant to fire AND holy, hmpf

The main thing I think that stands out is what the game considers "Weak" and "Resistant". I think 40% absorption is essentially considered the "baseline" for most bosses. 20% absorption is "weak" (the game says Night's cavalry is weak to lightning, they have 20% lightning absorption), and 80% is "Resistant"
Holy is an incredibly well designed and fleshed out damage type with more support than any dark souls series miracle build other than like, lightning spears in ds1 and ds2. The problem always just boils down to the big heavy hitter endgame bosses having that 80% absorption
Lightning spears from dark souls is lightning in elden ring (faith + weapons scale with Dex ex. Bolt of gransaxx/dragon kings cragblade). Holy is badly designed the incantions are int/faith but the weapons aren’t. Bad synergy + there’s barely any holy incantations compared to other types
I can confirm that Ancient Dragon's Lightning Strike melts Fortissax, no matter his resistance.
He's just so big that he ends up eating every strike.
I will run a pure holy build just so I can say i am... Holier Than Thou.
…..you need to leave.
Metallica reference?
Holy damage feels like a lore damage type designed for bosses and enemies rather then players. Considering how many gods we kill that use it.
Dark damage was also kinda like that as more of a lore damage type, it was designed to kill gods instead. I think fire should have been faith/int instead.
Ideal damage types for me would be, Magic/int Faith/holy Fire/int/faith and then arcane is status effects like frost/int/arcane or faith/arcane/int bloodflame. don't know what status faith/arcane would be.
Maybe faith/arcane = lightning
Little off topic BUT: I very recently did a faith only build and it was one of the most fun runs I've ever had in this game. I had Cipher Pata and Coded Sword incase I ran out of FP but I almost never ran out.
Swapping to fire, lightning, physical, holy incantations and magic when I used a mimic tear helmet with the blue dragon spells made the build insanely versatile for just leveling 1 damage stat. Coded sword is also amazing against enemies that block constantly.
Being able to buff stack and debuff enemies was also amazing cause I end up just tanking and spamming dragonmaw on enemies like Godfrey who does only physical so black flame protection, golden vow and greyoll's roar made dragonmaw spam safe to do for a minute.
Now more on topic: The holy weapons are also fantastic as the clips here showed, bubble greathammer, Elden Beast sword, Coded sword, cleanrot knight scythe so on and you can still use things like Blasphemous blade which is a whole other monster.
Siluria's tree is straight up my favorite weapon in the game just for the ash of war alone.
You don't need to restrict yourself to a single damage type and Faith builds are incredibly strong/versatile.
8:40 I do agree with damage typings being weird. Lightning affinity weapons doesn't have a faith counterpart but fire does with strength for some reason which is new to fromsoft. I guess they wanted dex and str to have at least 1 elemental damage type because weapons by default will be more restrictive compared to equipping incants/spells which allows for great customization. They gave every damage stat at least 2 damage types which I'll list:
Str has physical and fire, Dex has physical and lightning, Faith has fire and holy, int has only magic but cold is status damage, arcane has physical and status damage. My guess is they didn't want to give faith a 3rd damage stat when it comes to weapon affinities.
As for int/fth holy incantations they could "fix" it by making them ignore half or close to half of an enemy's holy negation stat. They seems like high investment but no real gain.
I still love me Fth/Int build, using disqus of light and the Erdtree Great shield and I'm gonna take it to the DLC
You are my #1 go to guy. Good work and looking forward to your videos on the new dlc.
Erm actually, Revenants are unrelated to Death Blight and Those who live in Death 🤓
I definitely think that with the DLC taking place in a land that's been ravaged by Marika, holy damage will be considerably better than in the base game. There's almost no demigods that we know of that could have a Great Rune (save for Miquella and maybe Godwyn or Messmer), so I doubt most required bosses will be very resistant to it.
Godwyn would not possess any great runes simply because his death is what led to the Elden Ring getting smashed in the first place.
@@shiroamakusa8075 Ah yeah, lmao, I completely forgot about that.
Jus the video I needed. Nice job
I've been looking for it but what's the blue skirt with red riban armor piece you use in this video most of the time ? I don't recognize it.
First playthrough I went the holy route. Was so excited to finally have a Paladin type build that didn't rely on lightning. Ended up replacing it with bleed / fire by Maliketh. It hurt so bad.
Been trying to make a paladin build using holy damage work and it's tough since all the good incantations are further in the game
I really hope they add more int/faith weapons/spells in the DLC. The golden order seal is so damn powerful, I just need another weapon besides the sword of night and flame
lol bro talked me into a faith build than talked me right out of a faith build
Holy is perfectly capable of beating the game and easily. The fact that it is less optimal, especially for the last few bosses, isn't a big deal. Less optimal still gets the job done. You'd think with how many different holy weapons/builds have been used to beat the game, people would realize this.
The only time I would advise against holy would be if you were having extreme trouble on the last bosses. In that case, you might want to switch, but if people can beat the game at level 1, you can beat it with holy damage.
all I hear is excuses
I think you don't understand the main question. The question is not can you beat the game with pure Holy damage? but rather: Why should i use Holy damage when you can use stuff like Phys, Magic, Fire & Lightning damage instead? Why should i use an element that feels like 80% of all bosses & enemies have a high resistant to?
@BirdWithAKnife345 this is something that a lot of people fail to conceptualize in this community.
"I think this move is unfair due to X, Y, Z."
"Well chud, didn't you know that Mr Streamer beat that boss with his feet while blindfolded? Therefore, it is flawless and all of its moves are fair."
You see it everywhere
@@BirdWithAKnife345Answering the question, “why use holy damage over other options?”
It’s a freaking game, and it’s supposed to be fun. Why use it? Well, because you can, for whatever reason. Do you like the weapon styles? Like the incantation animations? Cosplay, roleplay, whatever. The game gives so many options, and not everyone wants to run around spamming Rivers of Blood, Ancient Dragon Lightning Strike or Comet Azur
@BirdWithAKnife345 No one is saying that holy is fine simply because you can beat the game with it. They are saying its perceived weakness is exaggerated. Personally, I think holy should be buffed as it IS the weakest damage type, but that doesn't mean it is impossible to play the game with holy damage. People do not need to be scared of using holy weapons or spells.
Holy's reputation makes players afraid to try it. That is the major issue. Play what you enjoy, of course. If you want to try it, do so, and if you don't like it, switch to something else. While there are limited respecs, this isn't DS1. You can swap a fair bit.
I planned on a dex build for my first playthrough and ended up int/dex. My second was strength/faith, and that worked out. My third, I was finally going to be pure dex and ended up arcane. My most recent build has been int/faith using many of the golden order holy spells. We can hope holy gets some buffs, but even so, nearly everything is viable.
I hope we get some kind of death/ghostflame wetblade or smth... anything for int/faith tbh. Like a wetblade that comes with a choice of say godfrey's holy lightning, ghostflame (i just want more of it tbh), and messmer's flame bc it looks kinda like it might have some multi-stat stuff with the black and red. It'd all do existing damage types, just with a special effect or scaling to it. Hell, I'll take variants of raw infusions like how we had deep, fire, and raw in ds3 with their dark, chaos, and quality counterparts... except I'd be content with just raw removing scaling from the weapon in exchange for decent flat damage I can use with some hopefully decent weapon buff spells.
Tbh those raw infusions could be a cool addition in general, have them applicable to every aow type and be able to have say a fire weapon with lighning slash. It'd suck and be kinda useless, but it'd be something
Legit made holy strength build
On my new game plus 4 character I just wanna see if it’s a challenge overall and I’m pretty excited ONE MORE WEEK!!!
During ng+ 8 I finally found a build I love and it only required that I reached 80 int and faith lol. Dual prince of death staffs a golden order seal and any int/faith weapon.
I was hoping holy would have a cleansing effect, for example if someone uses poison on a weapon. Once you hit their character their poison effect will be cleanse for a certain period of time before it comes back.
I'm going in with Ordovis Greatsword and Marika's Hammer whether it's good or not with my other friend Destined Death
They both do mostly physical and the ash is based on weapon damage (luckily) so its a safe bet. Ordovis wipes the floor with the game
Thing is about lightning is dexterity is more about casting speed so if you want a really good lightning build go faith dexterity
I really want them to make more Int/Fai based stuff because I am a hybrid caster since the start. I like the Golden Order incants and Death sorcery, but I only have sonaf that scales with both, and Erdsteel Dagger/Clayman Harpoon.
based opinion, It will prob be more viable in Shadow Of The Erdtree, nice video 👍
Anyone got any tips for my paladin build? I want to make a holy paladin warrior to take into the DLC but idk what incants/weapons would be good enough
Why not making a faith weapon with an AOW that deals either fire damage or holy damage?
and then there was me beating the game with the golden halbert not knowing about that
What happened to the Elden ring video with 250 weapons ranked? It was on the channel like an hour ago. Was it taken down?

Hi you i m so happy for the shadow of the edtree dlc and i can't wait i play that
The issue I have observed in a way with holy damage is that there is, what youwy said about some weapons' scaling having only faith scaling when golden order incantations scale with both int and faith, but also that it feels like holy damage doesn't have as much flexibility as some other damage types :
ancient dragons' lightning strike for example can the same enemy hit multiple times and wreck many bosses even ones resistant to lightning damage (so evidently it has good base damage) but if you look at elden stars (it can hit the same enemy multiple times as well) it barely tickles them and most of the other holy damage spells hit twice at most and in the case of triple rings of light it feels quite bad that :
1- it's a very endgame spell
2- it doesn't shotgun making it effectively a worse version of discus of light because it costs far more fp (its only upside is that it can hit bosses that dodge on player input but considering how spammable and low cost discus of light is that barely is a pro for it)
Why did you remove the weapon tier list video?
Godwyn was like the pinnacle of holiness in the Golden short to only Radagon/Marika themselves. That is probably why everything related to him is holy, it's just a corrupted form of holy. Plus I think holy is closer to "divinity" rather than just "good god juice" for a lack of a better word.
I'm predicting more enemies will be fire resistant, so holy might be a good alternative. Looks like a lot of fire enemies in the trailer.
Bleed might also be toned down since it was over powered in the base game, dual wield and seppuku already got nerfed.
What happened to the 4 hour weapon tier list? I was halfway through the daggers and now it’s gone!
Are there new faith based weapons with AOWs that have high enough damage to compensate against high resistance enemies?
I obviously cant say yes or no, but I am sure that we will be getting new skills/weapons/ and incantations that deal pure holy damage in the dlc. 😁
If you put holy damage on any whip, it actually becomes OP immediately.
Debatably, if you are going for efficiency you would just get as high physical damage as you can and then buff/infuse your weapon with whatever the boss you're fighting is weak to. Which, most of the time, the answer is going to be bleed.
I have a holy build and now it makes sense why my second and 3rd playthroughs were a lot harder, i initially thought it was because it was ng+ elden beast was an absolute pain in the arse to beat even though i knew he was holy resistant my ego wouldn't let that stop me 😂
I'm really looking forward to cosplaying as a Holy Monk, using the new martial arts weapon class. Black flame monk armour set with Holy incantations & spells... Plus my fists & feet to kick ass!
What’s the best magic scorpion charm alternative?
For an int Caster build?
I think Holy is definitely overlooked too much, the amount of damage the ring spells put out is hilarious for their cost. Discus of light is an absolute workhorse, and radagons rings just nukes rooms. I feel like all the buffs they got were to compensate for higher resistant enemies late game, but in general play they definitely feel like they pack a bit harder a punch than your average spell
I’m yet to fully watch the video but it was an immediate click for me. I play with the Golden Order great sword and holy is my main damage source. (Faith/Int build). While holy damage eradicates those who live in death, it is basically very lackluster against almost everything else. I’m hoping fundamentalist/faith/int builds get great results in the DLC.
Watched, and I’m in full agreement. It is also my favourite aesthetic and damage type, but it is objectively the worst in terms of optimisation. Still, can’t beat a wave of gold obliterating mobs. I’ve got int spells for whatever holy dmg doesn’t eliminate.
They will be releasing many patches in the future to adjust both pre existing magic, weapons, and items, but also things related to the DLC. Maybe holy dealing weapons, incantations, and items will be a topic of some of those patches 😁
Who knows we might encounter some undead there
I had no idea healing spells damaged Revenants
I finished my very first run with the Tree Sentinel Halberd because it looked badass, it was only when I did a second run with a pure STR build that I realized how many bosses were cutting my damage down by being holy resistant 😂
With that said, it didn't taint my first run. It was still hella fun. And it was still doable and viable.
my problem with holy is the lack of status effect, magic has freeze, physical has bleed/poison/rot, fire has burning, but holy has nothing to offer outside of cool looks
God I hope morgots and radagons incantations are in this
It would be SO amazing if we got Radagond holy lightning incantation 😭😭
Faith is definately the path that has the most build diversity, outside of swapping ashes of war for damage. You can go fire, lightning, frost, holy, physical just with incantations alone, and most of these types have 1 really good incantation or multiple. Definately my favorite build path in elden ring.
Holy damage slaps in pvp though
Holy damage is fine. Think of it like this: holy damage is great, other damages are just better. In the ways that the weapons and spells function, you will still stomp enemies if you use your toolkit wisely.
I’m still new to the game but honestly it feels like most enemies are holy/faith user so it makes sense why
I would like to have more destined death weapons in the game. It's holy, it looks cool and it doesn't give a shit about resists, because percentage damage. And again: why don't gargoyles' weapons have this thematic and normal skills when their attack animation on hit literally have the destined death flame built in?
Just wanted to say I've been using holy damage(golden order stuff) for the early areas, and it's been great.
To me, it feels like From planned to make Holy a gimmick, wherein Holy weapons and spells would always have super high AR’s, but would be countered by the high resistances that most bosses have, thereby balancing out the damage type. The problem, though, is that Holy weapons or spells never really do get high ARs (with the exception of the Golden Order spells, because of their dual scaling).
Someone on reddit told me there is no holy build so holy isnt bad because you can switch to other faith options.
The good thing about holy damage spells or weapons, is that you at least gain a HUGE amount of it when you use them, so at least the 40% (and sometimes the 80%) resistance won’t too bad.
A huge amount of what because the damage isn’t amazing on most of them
I hardly notice the resistances I use Ordovis's greatsword and the spear tree a lot and they wreck endgame bosses on ng+3 there are many other holy weapons that are great and I don't listen to ppl who say don't use them
From my experience with the siluria tree at 40 str and 20 faith i was hitting radagon for around the same damage of a straight sword. Yes holy damage is hot trash
Dunno if this build counts as holly damage, but I just set it up for the DLC. Zweihandler with Golden Land and Oriental straight sword off hand. Talismans Millicent's prothesis and Rotten winged. Buffs Golden vow, Flame grant me and Howell of Shibri. Black dumpling head piece. Good ranged damage and up close.
I thought we were talking about channel points💀

Remember Sceptre of the all Knowing Reduces Magic/Holy Resistance
Just reinstalled the game and wanted to start confessor and do holy build. Thought I should look up cool builds and this the first video I watched......... Probably still gonna do it lol
I’ll never get tired of Youwy campaigning against holy damage
Made a holy build and did 400 somn damage on radagon with a maxed out golden order great sword ash of war 😭
Tbh, that weapon in of itself is bad
@@motivatedstorm3816true. although its shit, its skill damage is really good. and for it to only do piss poor damage says a lot about the damage type and the only thing the weapon is good at.
I always go with what I like, granted what I like is Pyromancy so I was already pretty much set to fight everything.
IDC about resists. I just like how holy skills look. You're telling me, I can Tron my way through the game, throwing disks of holy energy from 100 feet away? Sign me up.
You're telling me, my ass can be holy and I can AOE ass slam my way through the game? Sign me up.

I just want the golden order seal and radiant gold mask to be fixed in pvp
Last i checked you dont get the fundamentalist boosting passives
So the DLC is out, I haven’t played it yet… can anybody that has tell if holy damage is better yet?
Most of the enemies are undead or don't resist including some new bosses.
Many of the new weapons and spells do holy damage and they're very good.
Fire damage is resisted in some dungeons so you're forced to use it if you're using a weapon with a faith build.
You're going to need a side arm with holy damage if you're playing a faith build.
Needless to say it is much much better.
Alternate damage types in this game are just frustrating and probably the worst thing in this game mechanically to the point where I'd accuse the team responsible for them of being lazy, not thinking it out and leaving it feeling incomplete.
For starters, despite going through the effort of making a crafting system, we still only have oil pot to bump elemental damage for a hit, even though they have made a mechanical consideration for rain to buff lightning. I guess a jar of water is too alien for a tarnished to consider.
Lightning seems to only exist out of spite: little weapon variation, half of which are quality or strength leaning so you can't benefit wholly from its dex scaling, there are tons of lightning spells but since the weapon scaling is purely dex you have to spread out to make the most of it (there are NO hybrid talismans that scale with dex mind you). They have 3 variations of lightning but Blue is woefully restricted and theres basically no difference between yellow and red lightning. This could have been easy room for something like a flame/fire art split and blue lightning as a method of Strength/Cold scaling, but From Soft went through the effort of making all those for absolutely nothing. Also optimal dexterity weapons are quick and weak to compensate, yet all lightning ashes of war are clunky and slow and there is no fast chaining spell like catch flame to weave into the mix, so you cant even flavour it satisfyingly. Lots of their ashes war are stuck to a weapon for no reason too: Loretta's slash is just magical Storm Assault but you can apply it, but Thunderstorm is stuck on an axe despite being a reskinned stormcaller. Lastly, it spites series veterans by making dragons resist the element just for the sake of it.
Meanwhile, fire gets oil for buffs, it has black flame, it has two scaling affinities, most of its innate scaling weapons are also strength leaning, it has a unique stacking spell buffs to bolster them, has the best ashes of war, tons of story significance to make educated guesses on where its useful, it's linked to the best status effect (bleed) and has healing/restorations and has tons of availability in the game.
Magic is just about the only thing resembling a fair element with lots of flexibility and support for different playstyles and no infuriating setbacks. Its only real shortcoming is gravity being half-baked as a concept. Gravity spells could have been used as a primer like Oil to make an enemy weaker to the next magical attack just to give a bit more flavour.
The physical damage splits are practically unchanged, meaning pierce and strike reign supreme, whilst slash is kind of just there for when From Soft decides if a blade would actually slice or... do whatever standard is meant to represent. Would be nice to see more interaction when effective damage types are applied besides just a number bump. DS1 had an amazing thing with skeletons falling apart to blunt damage which opened up the catacombs early on and they just never explored that concept further.
Holy being something completely new and then only existing to have zero spell coverage and be a distinct loser against enemies is the cherry on top of disappointing design. In spite of that I wanted to try a holy caster, only to find a complete lack of spells to play with.
There are way too many problems inherent in the design for the DLC to fix without making sweeping changes to the base game too, and even if it plugged some holes it's only available at the end of the game. I'm amazed more people aren't calling this out, being locked off from 8 new weapon types most of the game is NOT GOOD.
When From Soft make a sequel I can't imagine time will be kind to how people treat this game.
I use 80 faith & 80 arc (sue me) & I love it now. I sure hope we get a buff ;)
Best build in the game undisputed. Ill hear a debate for pure strength but that’s about it
@@timothymoore2966 amen, brother. I have a good 50/50 for strength & Dex (just hit 310 lol) but it pwns. Dragon Communion Seal is deadly & access to the most fun weapons in the game
faith builds are so good though, so versatile, fire, lightning, black flame, beast incantations, throw arcane you have dragon communion incantations, I'll go with a faith/quality build into the dlc, that way I'll be able to play half the content in 1 run,
The biggest problem is not holy damage but the simplistic approach they took with the scaling of elemental damage and casting tools. In DS2 they perfected the system where each element had its own stat scaling, and the casting tools had different amounts of scaling with each element, and you could infuse them to specialize further. In Elden Ring, as long as you meet the minimum requirements all that matters is the generic scaling of the casting tool (elements on their own have no scaling) which kills variety and diversity. What would having a good thing would be:
Magic damage - scaling with intelligence
Holy Damage - scaling with faith
Fire Damage - scaling equally with intelligence and faith
Lightning damage - scaling with both intelligence and faith, scaling with the lowest (same as dark in DS2)
Status effects and all blasphemous magic damage (black flame, bloodflame, death sorceries, death blight) - scaling with Arcane (possibly all them falling under the umbrella of arcane casting)
And every casting tool should have different amounts of scaling of each element. Not a single Souls game so far did casting as complex, as varied and eventually as good as DS2.
It is sad but it makes sense. One cant use the power of the god to kill the said god or its creations. Likewise, there probably will be lots of fire resisitant enemies in the DLC.
every time i want to use holy damage i remember that a million enemies resists the most so i dont use them while i want to but it just hurts my soul + they could fix it with a patch but they are lazy asf to rework the holy resistensis
I mean it's kinda more fun to use holy damage based weapons and incantations than to oneshot everything with comet azur and moonveil... right?
I will be posing on my enemies with the Golden Order GS
Make whatever build you want, we all know you make your own easy mode or hard mode depending on what build you make, but then there's also pvp, don't forget that alot of players don't even have high holy damage resist
I like it. Not every damage type needs to be tops
I used holy damage against the Lord of Frenzied Flame and figured it was alright considered I won. However I only have faith invested for lightning spells, only really use holy if needed
☀️ Here is my take ☀️
Hopefully holy damage is a topic of one of their future patch notes. I feel like you have to work harder to make pure holy damage be “strong”, whereas other damage types(fire, lightning, magic, etc) are just better in general.
As far as pure holy weapons go, the fact that the golden order great sword isn’t one of the best great swords in the game is…kinda counter intuitive. It’s literally Radagon’s sword, and you should feel like a damn God whenever you use it. The fact that it weighs 10 pounds is so strange(it is made of light), and the wind up time for the ash of war still needs to be reduced. I also think that it needs an A tier scaling in faith(when fully upgraded). Also, the sacred relic sword should have *at least* an A tier scaling in faith(when fully upgraded) as well, and should consume less stamina whenever you use the AOW…
The Golden Order incants are mostly fine, imo. I do think, however, that triple rings of light should either A) not cost as much fp as it does right now(since it only deals a little bit more dmg than rings of light, which costs 3 fp to cast) or B) have the damage just outright buffed to make it align with its 23 fp cost. Radagons rings of light could also receive a slight buff to the dmg(maybe 15-20%), but I think that it’s good where it is at. It is obviously not an incant that you would use against a large enemy, but fully charging it can be outright monstrous against anything Renalla sized or smaller(that can have its poise/stance broken easily). Black Blade is also a great “melee incantation ” option for dishing out damage to enemies that are Renalla sized or smaller, and the destined death aspect makes it all the more useful(I wouldn’t use it at range, though, since the black knife has the same effect, just less fp). Elden Stars is, along with Scarlet Aeonia, one of the most disappointing incantations in the entire game(if not the most). I understand the balancing problems between pvp and pve(especially with an incant that has lock on projectiles that are distracting and hard to dodge), but there is NO REASON an incantation that cost TWO memory spots and holds a LEGENDARY STATUS should be as worthless as it is in pve. It literally just needs a huge ass damage buff(in pve).
I think holy damage shines best in the ashes of war/skills department. The bubbles are obviously OP, and the sacrid relic sword is the epitome of point, click, and obliterate(most of the time). The halo scythe just has a ring of light that deals more impact dmg and some poise dmg, but deals very good, consistent dmg. Unblockable blade is also pretty good(not amazing, of course, but not awful). Malikeths black blade also has a pretty great AOW, but it is mostly because of the destined death.
If you read all of that, I applaud you 💛 🤭
I mean it's good against all beast type enemies aside from avatars and spirits. From my experience.
Edit: Placidusax as well.
I'm just saying man, the first half of the video made holy damage sound whatever, than the 2nd half of the video almost makes me wanna not use holy damage ever again.
I honestly wish more enemies were damaged by healing spells. Skeletons/anything undead would be a good option.
Or with the spell Litany of proper death
ive been using holy for the last 50 hours on my latest character. and it wasnt even planned, i just really wanted to try out cleanrot spear, halo scythe, and finally fully beat the game with tree spear. i cycle between a ton of weapons. the holy damage is just kind of a byproduct of that decision. and guess what id be bored af and probably not playing the game anymore if i decided to avoid these things cuz "holy" damage bad. worse case scenario u swap over to a fire damage setup. thats what i did for a boss here and there. just switch out talisman and physik and focus on fire infusion or an incantation then quickly swap back.
Magma blades for example
Another day another ADLS glaze💪
I've been using a watchdog sacred sword for the longest time. Is that holy damage? Was I supposed to notice something?
If you’re not noticing it’s probably how long you’ve been using it and isn’t it strictly worse than just using greatsword it’s cool looking but it’s pretty bad you’ll probably also get more damage if it’s flame art as well
Ive never understood the stigma against holy. Its not the best, but it definitely has its uses. I still think sacred blade is one of the strongest early game ashes of war and im still getting use out of it in the dlc
I miss Dark Damage I'm glad there was Holy added because I like it, just wish they had kept Dark Damage and kept it Intelligence/Faith and had 5 elemental damage types
i actually used holy discs through out the dlc, for lore purposes and look good, it’s actually not bad, only 7 fp and the dmg isn’t bad too.
they should have split holy and making it dark or occult.
And I know the argument is “both are technically from the elden ring and it’s a Holy object” doesn’t really hold up at all imo.
In the dlc i would worry about fire damage not holy. Everything we see in the trailers is burning
