I worked as an LPN for 2 years in NJ before i got my RN and i made 110k/year. The secret? Work with an agency who will pay you at least 42-45$/hr and work a lot of overtime. I was making 3500- 4000$/week. It also helped me pay for a 2yr LPN-BSN bridge program. Just passed my nclex RN.
congratulations...I am just starting lpn school..I would like to travel, do wound care, and do homecare...and definitely with an agency...I need to in out where the good agencies are
I just got accepted into the practical nursing/LPN program at my community college. Fingers crossed to the journey🤞🏽God is good! Thanks so much for this information Nurse Sarah!
Shout out to all the Nurses! Becoming an LVN was the best decision, I have purpose in my life now.❤️ I cannot thank you enough for the knowledge you share Sara.
@@usefultipstricksandhacks5803 What kind of work do you do? Just curious because I’m a new grad RN with an associate’s. I make $73k in TX. I made less when I worked at a hospital. I left the hospital and went to work at a dialysis clinic and they offered me $10/hr more than what I was making at a hospital. I don’t know if my situation was just an anomaly but it seems like there may be more money to be made outside of the typical hospital setting.
I did the whole process of applying, passing the entrance exam and getting accepted to the school. Did the whole grueling rigorous 10 month program with anxiety and PASSED. Graduated in 2019 with my peers. But when I went to schedule the exam I was so nervous so I kept pushing back the date. I finally took the test 4 months after graduation (Oct 2019) and didn’t do well (I didn’t focus enough). Covid happened in 2020 and everything was shutdown. I am now ready to test in 2022.
I am taking LPN , at the community college . It’s a 2 years program and I am in my 1st year. I am most done my first year. I am really enjoying it although so stressed. Thanks you Sarah
I work as an LVN in a general practice office that includes peds, and I love the variance in duties in that practice. I've been an LVN for almost four years and worked 7 days a week for a year to earn my experience. I worked in shift care but wasn't for me, then I worked in a skilled nursing facility on the weekends while I kept my previous job. I finally gained enough experience i felt to land the perfect position for me. Update!! I've just been promoted to LVN supervisor! If you feel the road gets rough don't give up!!! Keep it moving if you really want this it's going to happen.
I work at a SNF as a CNA currently, and I give plenty of kudos to others who can do SNF or LTC. I would say half the time it drives me nuts but other times it is so rewarding watching the residents and patients make their goals and go home.
I’m about to graduate from my LVN program. Next week is our final week for term 3, then term 4 is going to last 6 weeks, and then we will be taking 8 exit exams + NCLEX. Wish me luck! I will come back and watch your videos to review my knowledge
Where I’m from (OK) we pretty much do everything an RN does. We just can’t do the initial assessment. Now that’s what they say but you’ll typically find that an LPN will do the initial assessment and the RN will sign off in it.
Thank you! Sara. You are such a great professional that helps thousands of students and people in general in our medical field. I am grateful for your existence. 🙏🏻
An RN and LPN/LVN can work in the same unit caring for the same patients and there’s still a big pay gap and I find that strange. 🤔 The only difference in said areas is the LPN doesn’t do the initial assessments or hang blood. (Speaking from experience) I personally feel if you’re qualified enough to work in the same unit and only limited by 1 or 2 things, there shouldn’t be a big pay gap. 🤨
completely agree!! my mom has been an LPN for 15 years on a mother baby unit & STILL doesn’t make as much as new grad RNs. She raised 2 kids through those 15 years & going back to school just wasn’t an option at the time, but putting that much time into a profession, I wish the world / hospitals would see how much her & her RN coworkers do that are practically identical.
@@Samchandia She needs to change hospitals if possible. She definitely has the experience for it. Staying at a company for a long time is bad if they don't raise wages over time. The average rate they are paying new graduates LVN or RN might be higher in general now and they kept her salary low the whole time.
@@Samchandia Unfortunately, it's all about the title. RNs get paid more because of their title, even if LPNs do the same, if not more work than the RN does. I am in RN school but I believe LPNs are no less of a nurse than an RN is. Both nurses should be paid equally depending on their experience level and specialty.
Go for the RN!! Go straight to it!! I hear a lot of LPNs regret going to be an LPN when they could just be an RN and make more. We do the same things, just different pay!
I’m going to school to become an LVN it’s shorter 1 year and less pre reqs for me to take. Plus it’s not as expensive as the RN program. I want to be a home health nurse. I am already working as a home health aide.
I am lpn looking to get RN degree but community college is hard to fulfill their requirements..happy since 5 yrs working as a LVN making great amount of money 💴

35 YO male CNA here, just got done with my TEAS and scored a 73. next step is submitting my application for my LPN program. while I originally wanted the RN avenue, with my GPA being only 3.21 that was not an option. So, down the line I can maybe do the LPN to RN program.
Would you say going to school for lpn/lvn is worth it in 2022? I love healthcare but I just wanna make sure after school I always have a place to work.
Hi Sara 👋🏻 I'm interesting with LPN program. Do you suggest to take online lpn certification program? Why im asking that because I want to become a rn in the future. What can you say about that going college or online school? Thank u 😊
Hello! I'm researching LPN programs in MA. When applying for a job, will employers "discriminate" against community college vs universities? Any advice will be GREATLY appreciated!!!!
I am in the process of challenging the board for my LVN. However, I got denied due to my old job saying I worked as a unit secretary, that's not the case . How can I get help and apeal their decision?
I am attending community colloge and am done with all Pre Reqs required to apply to the Nursing program, if i want to become a LVN must i ask my school for this program? Is is different than nursing school? Or do i need to find an outside tech school?

Hi, I got my canadian rpn licence . I have to change my licence from rpn to lpn. In order to do that, I have to pass CCA ( entry level clinical competency assessment) exam. It’s an 8 hours practical exam . I don’t have any idea about it and am super nervous. Does anybody attend it for changing their licence to another province? It will be a great help if someone has the information. Thank you.
I am so scared to fail. I did horrible my second year in RT school (Resp. school). Although I feel pretty strong in some areas, in a lot of ways I am really dumb. I just want to provide the best care for people and thrive in a very interesting field. Most people dont want to work in a nursing home or with old people but Ive always wanted to do that. I love my grannies and grampas! I just need a way to get in and do the best I can do and win at it lol. HELP!!
and also unfortunately you always hear the ridicule towards LPN because they arent "good enough" to become an RN. Hell, even one day at my work I overheard a caregiver assessing one of my LTC patients before transferring to assisted living mention that the term LPN should really just stand for "Lowest Paid Nurse". Quite rude.
