Hello there leokimvideo didn’t expect you to be here. I’m a big fan and have been watching you since I was 6 years old.
I bought a few weeks ago in NZ a Kia Sportage EX 2.0 diesel turbo , I have done now a few thousand Km's (being an ex Diesel automotive engineer ) I must say this Kia beauty is leaving the Toyota's RAV 4 diesels for dead , I had 2 of these a 2012 and a 2014 model diesel ..... the Kia Sportage 2016/17 model engines/auto gearbox much better then the RAV 4 , finishings , leather etc brilliant .....keep an eye out for these Koreans !!!

@@marcin2290 No really. They have his own a german design center. Hyundai's designs comes from america design center, ans the Kia design from the european ones.
I like kia sportage..very smooth, very silent, powerful and strong , reliable and very safe, strong brakes and good wheels, comfortable and elagant, but the 2016 model headlights is a little bit not good i like sharper one on the previous model. But overall design is excellent and features! Just revert to sharp design and leds..

The kia look is exquisite! the others will only catch shallow buyers.
My 2011 kia sportage has 305,000+ miles on it and is still ticking along.
Rock solid reliability for sure.

Bobby Ang I like Mazda but the CX-5 is not my personal top two choice. Though you have a pint of it at least being included in the shootout.

Definitely the Tucson in my opinion.This video doesn't do the Hyundai any justice. Just don't like the front end of the Kia. If they fixed this then the Sportage would be perfect.
I was between the Tucson and Sportage. Both were very good, the sportage was a little less money and a little better looking for me. I know that the Sportage is more polarizing, but it turns out that I liked it. I might have hated it, but it's just personal preferences.
great review..would love to buy KIA a few months back but the price is quite steep for me (for the top model).so i ended up buying MG GS..took the risk but so far so good...just like KIA and Hyundai when they started, everyone has their doubts..the only clear disadvantage is the resale value..
As you mentioned this Kia is a very good car , I agree .....have done now 10.000km on the road in NZ ( not the best roads in the world ) with a diesel 2.0 turbo 185 HP auto 18 inch wheels ...had 2 RAV 4 diesels before ...this Kia Sportage diesel leaves the RAV4 diesels for dead .

I've seen complaints that the kia has some issues with the transmission where there is a delay when accelerating. Has anyone had this issue?
I'm not 100% sure about the looks of the Kia Sportage, but I'd give it a test drive.
I like the new Hyundai Santa Fe and new Toyota RAV4 and plus they deive better in the winter time than Honda CRV and Kia Sportage.

if as you say the premise is determining which is the best family vehicle, then why are you not testing them with a family inside them? one guy sitting in the front seat driving is not a good way to determine a family vehicle handling characteristics change with load.

Sportage (purchased July 2016) Diesel AWD. Noisy and has no pickup when needed in heavy traffic. It honestly takes a second to realise that you've put the foot down, then suddenly lurches forward.
Never again.
Had a Forester for 12 years. Brilliant car. Never a problem. Should have bought the latest model.

Kia for the win on objective criteria
I have a 15 Tuscon and even with the 16 they have yet to fix the back-end squeaks and noises. There is a design issue with the second row seats and how they latch. You hear noise from them going at low speeds and over bumps.
We will have a listen out next time we get one in the office, Cheers

I sort of agree. But how many of the intended customers would be taking those SUV off road? Well, it would be interesting :) But I don't think that Jeep or Land Rover are nervous of one of these SUV taking their place off road ;)
Now in 2023 Kia Sportage has did a great job it is spacious and comfortable it has more features and boot space and it has more cargo space Now Kia Sportage's Exterior and Interior look is beautiful!!!Better Buy Kia Sportage instead of Hyundai Tucson it is the best!!!!!
In my candid view, I thought the review was spot on, very detailed than most car review shows. About the KIA though, the looks seems kind of ugly but you definitely grow into it. Just like we now see the Juke as an everyday car. Its a matter of perspective!!!!

+richard oppong when the new look kia sportage was released, i thought it was such an ugly car and a step backwards from previous design. But over time, the design grew on me. now looking at it next to the other cars, i would pick sportage over the others based on exterior design.

The original sportage had low range so it wasn't an SUV it was a 4x4

I test drove the 2016 petrol versions of the Tucson and Sportage a couple of weeks ago.Trust me: the KIA looks much better 'in the flesh' than video or stills convey. It is a much better drive and much better 'furnishing' inside than the Hyundai.Changed my mind about KIA for sure. They are lining up their product as a serious contender.

+Grant H Lee that's a typically ignorant comment, some someone who has never owner a Land Rover, and I can tell you've never owned one by the 'Probably' in your silly statement. You've heard something from someone, who heard something from someone, whom once knew someone who owned a Land Rover ..... blah, blah, blah .... We have a beautiful HSE Discovery Sport and it's just brilliant on and off road, which is what distinguishes it from the vehicles in this video, its actually designed to go off road, and does it well. These are just elevated sedans, which can't handle anything more than a well groomed dirt road. The Discovery may cost more to buy, but its worth every cent in the long run, and reliability is definitely not an issue, and hasn't been for decades !!
