I live in the Brookings Oregon area just out of town a few miles! The whole area is beautiful going north you go up highway 101 through one small town after another along the coast! If you go south into California just a few miles you are driving through the redwoods along the California coast!
This Oregonian would welcome you with Open arms! No expiration date😊 My favorite UA-cam channel! So positive, exactly what the world needs right now. Thank you ❤
I've been to all of these places (born and raised in the Great Lakes area). From his video I would rank #1 the Great Lakes generally, #2 Blue Ridge Parkway - you literally drive 30 mph from PA to TN inside a national park. #3 Zion NP in Utah but include the Grand Canyon on this trip. I must admit I also have a soft spot for Key West. The USA is bigger than many realize ... so much more to see (Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, Puget Sound, Denali, Isle Royal, Ozark Mtns, you could spend your entire life in the Rocky Mtns or in the rolling hills of farms in the great midwest). Hope you make it here someday.
And for these 10 beautiful drives he listed, there are easily 100 more unmentioned. I was born here, lived here all my life, and just had my 70th birthday a few weeks ago. I had the opportunity and the means to travel around the U.S. and Canada as much as I wanted, yet still I barely even scratched the surface of seeing everything wonderful. I hope you can get to see everything you hope for!

I can tell you that I have been on the greatest drive with my family The Redwoods National Forest in Northern California USA The trees are up to the clouds and as big around as a house 😮
I live in California and have driven the length and width. Highway 1 along the central coast is a destination and the views rival any in the world it is spectacular. I've also driven across the U.S. through Colorado and the view just from the main highway in Colorado are incredible.
As a Michigander, I feel obliged to ask if you guys have reacted to Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald, by Gordon Lightfoot. The lake that is indeed a freshwater sea, is the setting for the song. It's a tragedy, but as Lightfoot so aptly says of the Great Lakes, "Old Michigan steams like a young man's dreams The islands and bays are for sportsmen And farther below Lake Ontario Takes in what Lake Erie can send her And the iron boats go as the mariners all know With the gales of November remembered..." Also, I'll bet Michigan (particularly Northern Michigan) and Romania, from a natural sense, share a pretty familiar feeling. Good fun, this one. Thanks for all you do!
In 7 hours traveling nortn/ northeast, i can stick my toes in the lake superior that you so were drawn to. I'm 10 miles east of the mighty Mississippi...in the Driftless Area in southwest Wisconsin. Under 200 people actually reside in the 35 square miles that surround my high mountain meadow home. The 36th square mile... is mine. Those precious to me enjoy the prime trout, walleye, catfish, and panfish opportunities available from my remote and private country abode and its interests. The ocooch mountains...big enough for me... some say its halfway to heaven. I'll take that!
A native Californian here, and we travel to Big Sur every year. Yes, the coastline is dramatic, but it's the redwood trees and forests that make this place so special. Please come and visit! We have mountains, coastline, deserts, lakes and rivers to ensure scenic spots no matter where you go. Don't be fooled...it's a big state, and it does take hours to travel from place to place, but it is worth it!
The Great Lakes are fresh water and they are huge - no sharks or salt water. I think you would be amazed by the beaches and the lakes that look like oceans!
In July, I drove through Glacier National Park in Montana. I don't know how that didn't make the list. I only had a couple hours to spend there but still came out with dozens of fantastic pictures.
I had that stretch of California coast all to myself once. There were wildfires in Big Sur, so this stretch of highway was closed. A friendly California Highway Patrol (CHP) officer let me travel it on my motorcycle as long as I made it a round trip and did not try to go into the Big Sur area. Forty miles of beautiful California coastal highway and not a single person on it besides me.
My wife and I have been lucky to drive 7 of these roads. They truly are beautiful places. The one in Michigan by Canada is on Lake Superior. The largest lake in the world. It should actually be classified as an inland sea. It is one of the 5 great lakes.
Michigan the home state of me and Bob Seger, my family would camp at Grand Marais every summer ☀️ its beautiful with a bay off the Lake Superior coastline, the 5 Great Lakes has 3,288 miles of coastline with an additional 1,058 if you include the island's, the Great Lakes are huge!😮 The 5 Lakes go through the St. Lawrence Seaway on there way to the Atlantic, Between Lake Erie and Lake Ontario is Niagara Falls you wouldn't believe how beautiful it is, there is so much mist there are Rainbow's everywhere 🌈 🌈 🌈 when they light the Falls at night it's beautiful. Peace✌️ and Love❤️ your 70 year old forever Young Hippie Gary 😊 Great Reaction👍 I flew to Detroit form San Diego one Christmas in the 80's, I had an exchange at LAX in Los Angeles and when we flew east to Detroit the Pilot said as he tilted the plane right, if you look out the window you can see the Grand Canyon, my jaw dropped it was so Beautiful and it went on forever 😅
I wasn't aware of a couple of those like the North Dakota drive and the last one. I would have a hard time choosing between the last one and Oregon. My perfect place would also be water and mountains.
The 5 great lakes were formed from Glacier's moving up towards The North Pole, when The Ice Age ended. They are huge, I was born and spent my first 40yrs living next to Lake Michigan in Chicago.
I live about 20 minutes away from the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina. It is gorgeous, and you can drive from Georgia to Virginia. It is very near the Appalachin Trail, which you can hike from Georgia to Maine almost all the way up the East Coast, over 2000 kilometers long. Another of my favorites is the drive from Phoenix to Flagstaff, going from a desert of 110 degrees (47 C) to a Ski Mountain where it is below 0 C. All in about 4 hrs.
I have been on 3 of these roads. North Dakota, North Carolina and the Florida Keys. I have been on the Florida Keys Road several times since I live in South Florida (Greetings from the Sunshine state). Of the 3 I have to say the drive in North Dakota was amazing. I was in the park ALL day and seen a total of 4 people. I have been to 36 states and correct they all have something different and special. The vastness of this country is staggering. The good Lord has blessed us with soooo much. So come on over, hop in the car and let's listen to some great road music (which there is a lot of) and enjoy the open road.
My wife and I I just made a trip in July to South Dakota. Stayed in town of Custer. We visited The Badlands and spent several days in Custer Park. Those bison are found in Custer State Park along the Wildlife Loop Rd. Needless Highway and Iron Mountain Rd are also awesome drives through Custer Park.
When you're done seeing Doc perhaps consider driving south to Atlanta. My wife and I would love to have you guys. We can take you to a Romanian market and a fantastic Polish bakery. We can even take you out to Ruth Chris for a baseball steak and I can expense the entire thing on my taxes! Nothing better!
I took a business trip to Colorado in 1995. I remember going up to Loveland Pass one evening where we sat on the rocks and watched satellites traveling though space at 17,000 miles per hour. No telescope required. It was a magical experience. The Great Lakes are enormous. I believe they contain 20% of all the world's fresh water. So many beautiful places to visit.
The highway over the sea is in a hurricane prone area. It is a shallow part of the ocean so it can be anchored well. But they have to rebuild it sometimes. That lake is a few hundred miles across & about a quarter the size of the black sea. 😁 And the lake is half in Canada. The sea on the Oregon coast is very cold. Go with the oversea highway. It is almost the temperature of bath water. Unless during hurricane season.
Could you imagine being an early pioneer, at the start of the country, from the 1600’s to the day of the Wagon Trains, and the Cowboys! WOW! Just imagine!
We are tiny, and mother nature reminds us every season. She can get angry with tornadoes ,floods, earthquakes and hurricanes. But it’s worth it with her beauty 🇺🇸
I live in Southern Utah, with Bryce Canyon, ZIons, Capital Reef, National Parks all within my backyard. I was a Romanian Linguist in the US Army, and visiting Romania is still on my Bucket list.
Fabulous area. St george area is beautiful and not even a national park. The GREATEST vista ive ever seen is standing on the 18th tee of sky mountain golf course in hurricane utah. Seriously. Go check it out since you live there.
The ending made me think of the old song "Tumbling Tumbleweeds" by Roy Rogers & Sons of the Pioneers. I can remember my dad singing it while he was doing things around the house.😊
I've watched this video and been to many of these places. The world is beautiful. Loved your reaction. The northwest coast and California coast are spectacular.
I recently went to see 1000 Island Seaway where the St. Lawrence River is, I was in the NY State side, but you can easily see Canada. Simply beautiful. I also went to Maine, just love that state, I saw Cadillac mountain and you can see the porcupine islands appear when the tide is low.
I’ve been through Badlands and Custer and they are both very nice. I liked Custer because of the animals! Amazing we almost got run over by huge Elk on our motorcycles!😮
I've been to 9 out 10 places (missed Maine) and they are all fantastic. The second section about the Dakotas I drove for 100km (60 miles) with not one car in my lane and followed by a 80km (50 miles) again no car in our lane. It was September and the weather was fantastic. I was raised in Florida and out of all of these the traffic on the bridge can be horrendous. All of them are winners.
Hi thanks for the reaction. Many beautiful drives in the US. Just finished a vacation in Colorado. Drove the 50 miles of Trailridge Road in Rocky Mountain National Park. It is truly spectacular with many mountains and lakes to see. It is the highest road in the US peaking at 12,000 feet.
There are so many beautiful scenic drives that I think it impossible to rank the top ten, or even to know all the scenic drives to have the data from which to make the selection. For example, YT videos "Top 10 Scenic Drives In Utah", "Yosemite Valley Complete Scenic Drive", "Blue Ridge Parkway: 18 Things to do on the Road Trip", also videos of the scenic drives through Yellowstone National Park,
There is a home in Asheville, North Carolina, that is the largest private residence in the US. Biltmore House is beautiful and is open to the public year round. Christmas is amazing! You can find tours and info on you tube. I would love to see you react to this home. It is in the Blue Ridge mountains.
I am from Oregon since 1978. I lived on the southern Oregon Coast for 20 years in Gold Beach. Absolutely beautiful place. I moved away in '96, and moved back, for business in 2023. Nothing but tourism now. Sad. 😢
I live in Michigan you can’t swim in Lake Superior it is to cold all the time. The lower lakes warm slightly in the summer. The Utah drive is very beautiful. So is driving through the badlands of New Mexico. Raving is very big with retirees in the United States.
One of the things America really got right is the National Park system. We are blessed with some amazing nature. I've lived in many areas of the US in my life and it's true every state has something unique. I've done several of these drives and can agree they're all beautiful. I'm surprised he left out Monument Valley in Arizona and Avenue of the Giants in Northern California. You two would love the OR/NoCal coast.
Most of the Keys in Florida are surrounded by shallow water until you go further out to sea of course. Just so different then the rest of the USA. But you have unique ecosystems all over USA.
I live in California and have been into Eastern Oregon and Idaho, nevada, and once in Texas but I flew there . Calif. Has every kind of geography, desert, ocean beachs, alpine mountains, volcans, rain forest redwood forest and LA. Ha.
Not including the Going to the Sun road and the Beartooth Pass in Montana on this list is absolutely bonkers. The Columbia River gorge and I-90 through Western Washington are also astonishing. I appreciate that this guy tried to space out his entries, but I will knock him for including two drives in the Dakotas... That is just wild.
Great choice, guys. I've only been to the Blue Ridge parkway of those in the video. But many of them are on my bucket list. Thanks for sharing the beautiful places and your enthusiasm. 👍 P.S. Andrei, you'll need a wet suit to swim in the Oregon water. They get the cold ocean current from Alaska.
Have to remember that on the west cast the ocean water temps are not balmy, and are too cold for most people to swim in without a wet suit -- the Atlantic Ocean gets way warmer than the Pacific
I have been all over the USA, from coast to coast and yes the USA is beautiful (Ive been to 8 of these places), but I really want to see much of South America, especially Patagonia. Located, in Argentina & Chile. South America has the Amazon River Basin, The Andes Mountains. The Andes Mountains are the 2nd Highest Range on Earth, The Amazon Basin is the Largest Rain Forest on Earth and Patagonia is Stunning, plus its the Southern most point on our Planet before you reach Antartica.
The five Great Lakes have a combined surface area > than the entire UK. He is right about the south Utah drive, the most scenic drive in the USA. I live near the CA coast south of Oregon. The 50km drive over two of the Coast Ranges and down the Russian River to Goat Rock beach takes ~1h 45 minutes. It is beautiful, you should stop by some time.
You are right the Blueridge and Appalachian Mountains along the Parkway and Skyline Drive are a lot like the Transylvanian Mountains. I live at the base of the Blueridge mountains in the Shenandoah Valley, Virginia
You suggested perhaps Lake Superior is larger than the Black Sea. I looked them up. So, no, not even by a half! Black Sea = 271k square kilometers Lake Superior = 51k square kilometers All 5 of the Great Lakes combined might make up the difference, but probably not. 🙂
I think you may have reacted to The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald by Gordon Lightfoot. If so, you may remember that it happened on Lake Superior. It truly is a freshwater inland sea, it is that big. Several others near it. We call them cumulatively the Great Lakes. Plan a trip! America would cherish a visit from such lovely people who appreciate our country's beauty.
CALIFORNIA, for sure! Yosemite, Wine Country, Beaches, Deserts, Mountains, Sea, e have it all. This is a reason why a lot of us don’t have Passports, we don’t have to leave the country….. SanJoséBob
You did a reaction to the song, Wreck of the Edmonds Fitzgerald by Gordon Lightfoot, Lake Superior is where she went down. Although a Canadian, I have been to most of the places mentioned and the two of you in my opinion have selected the two most scenic to view, there is beauty throughout but you can't go wrong on the western parts of the US and Canada.
I enjoyed this along with you two. I wonder how many local people know about this. If you look at the map portion of Southern Ontario at 12:05 turn the map 90° clockwise and see the elephant. Its front leg divides lakes Erie and Ontario, its trunk is down near Detroit and its tail is the Bruce Peninsula. Now that you can envision the elephant, I will tell you that I live up its butt. Can you figure out what city I live in? For those who want to have a bit of fun.
what makes the United States so unique, and this is just in the continental United States, never mind Alaska, Hawaii, or the United States territories, we have jungles, we have forests, we have deserts, We have mountains, We have oceans, Just about any part of the Earth Bet you can see somewhere else most of it you can also find in the US, we alone Grow virtually Every form of fruit, vegetable, meat, bread, grains you name it that there is on the earth within the United States Regardless If it's tropical fruit are forest or desert vegetation.
The U.S. would be blessed with you two coming to America. This old nation could use some of your love.

I can't fathom how Glacier National Park in Montana isn't on this list. It is surely heaven on earth.
We have some stunning natural beauty here in the US!
Don’t just pick one, there are lots more. Please check out Top 10 States or Top 25 National Parks and there are lots and lots more
Most of the Keys in Florida are surrounded by shallow water until you go further out to sea of course. Just so different then the rest of the USA. But you have unique ecosystems all over USA.
Imagine our duo reacting to the film Key Largo.
I live in California and have been into Eastern Oregon and Idaho, nevada, and once in Texas but I flew there . Calif. Has every kind of geography, desert, ocean beachs, alpine mountains, volcans, rain forest redwood forest and LA. Ha.
I’m from Michigan now in Florida. Lake Superior has a lot of ship wrecks in its history. It’s like the sea. Beautiful area.
Those are considered the Great Lakes!
I think he just included the places he visited personally 😊
Great choice, guys. I've only been to the Blue Ridge parkway of those in the video. But many of them are on my bucket list. Thanks for sharing the beautiful places and your enthusiasm. 👍 P.S. Andrei, you'll need a wet suit to swim in the Oregon water. They get the cold ocean current from Alaska.
Have to remember that on the west cast the ocean water temps are not balmy, and are too cold for most people to swim in without a wet suit -- the Atlantic Ocean gets way warmer than the Pacific
I'm in Colorado so I'm a little biased!
We drove from Cleavland, Ohio to Buffalo, New York to Nyariga Falls all along Lake Erie and yes it looks like a sea.
The Grand Canyon is AMAZING! And so many more National parks in Arizona. Look up Sunset Volcano and Walnut parks.
Oh wow! Massive! Thank you for explaining 😊
I too enjoy the Ocean, so the Florida Keys would be a must see for me! But, I live in Florida so...😁
Driving into Yosemite National Park from the east side is one of the most beautiful high altitude spots in the country.
The state of Montana is beautiful with ELK and MOOSE ,GRIZZLY BEARS
You are right the Blueridge and Appalachian Mountains along the Parkway and Skyline Drive are a lot like the Transylvanian Mountains. I live at the base of the Blueridge mountains in the Shenandoah Valley, Virginia
No place prettier to me in the fall than the Shenandoah valley and Blue Ridge. I was born in Roanoke, Va.
You suggested perhaps Lake Superior is larger than the Black Sea. I looked them up. So, no, not even by a half!
Black Sea = 271k square kilometers
Lake Superior = 51k square kilometers
All 5 of the Great Lakes combined might make up the difference, but probably not. 🙂
Thanks!
Thank you 🙂
Now you know why we call it "AMERICA THE BEAUTIFUL"
👍 you would just have to see the Grand canyon
