I bought a brand new 1982 Suzuki 2 stroke RM465Z in 1982, I was 22 years old, it cost $2,495, and I had it for 8 years until 1990. I rode it every weekend at a local gravel pit, and it was the best bike I ever owned. More power than you could ever need, and reliable as you can get. I put a new top end on it every winter, and never had one problem with it in 8 years. I put boysen reeds on it, a white bros works air box, shipped the rear shock to white bros in Calfornia for the deluxe shock modification, put a terry fork kit on the front, metzler perfectcross on the front, and a 6 ply cheng shin super digger sand and mud tire on the back. I also put those teflon coated cluth, throttle, and front brake cables on it, supercross bars and grips, and sidewinder sprokets. When I was done with all that it was almost like a factory works bike, it was a dream to ride, with a great suspension, and crazy power. I had 2 friends I rode with who had a 1981 Yamaha IT400 and a 1981 Kawasaki KDX400. I smoked them both, and after riding for 5 minutes, I would have to pull over and stop and wait for them to catch up with me. It would throw a roost so far nobody could ride within 50 feet behind me, my friend Bill said I hit him with a rock the size of a baseball in the chest one time and it knocked the wind out of him. So after that he always rode at least 50 feet behind me.
I would go back to the truck and tighten the chain, and make sure the adjusters are even on both sides, you might have one side a little farther back then the other side. I never had any of that chain slapping on my RM 465, not one time.
He has got so much better Thts the beauty of motocross once u get better at some it feels good and u can see how good u gotten even tho in Mx,enduro anything riding Dirtbikes there’s always room to learn more but once u dominate a track or a type of bike is a good feeling congrats men riding them big boys bikes I wanna be like u
Man I got a new 2023 model RM450 for an absolute steal and spent money on a Yoshimura system, mapping and getting the suspension tuned for me and still was under what I was going to spend on a 24 YZ or KX. I love this thing, Im 6,1 and 200lbs so it kinda suited me in stock form anyway. Always was a Yamaha guy until now, I'll proudly say Im a yellow fan.
I always find it comical people dissing Suzuki. Didn't seem to bother Carmichael or Stewart. But some people just whine because the Press tells them too.
Yeah dude! That chain slap is sure Loud but nothing to be scared about Awesome vid as always but I’d love to see you ride a 300 2 stroke for some reason 😁
I think the 2021+ rmz250's have the same KYB SSS forks that yamaha has but the spring rate is just astronomical for some reason. I love my yellow bike. Does everything I need and it's reliable plus parts aren't too pricey
this is a 2019 rmz450 with showa forks and showa shock. It's a great bike, I just didn't feel instantly comfy on it. With a couple personalization tweaks I would love it.

Suzuki hasn't made many changes to the bike since 2018 so I think that's why it gets a bad rep. It's a good bike, I love Suzuki as a brand and if they released an all new bike with drastic changes I'd buy it in a heartbeat.
Im a Yami guy.. but hate the look of the new yami 450's.. i have yz 250 two-strokes.. if that suspension was dialed on the rmz 450 what do you think?? Cheers
My 2013 KX250f had a really similar chain slap, I always tighten it and have the adjusters right, but it just keeps stretching itself out, pretty sure it’s fucked but I’m gonna try to get a new chain soon, I’ve heard that O-Ring Chains are better than standard chains, can anyone hear confirm that?
@DerekHallman sweet man. Bit yea looking good on those tracks. That's how I should done it but man I have to travel to get to a good track. Travel too far for me
yes suzukis are way quite and you know when something is wrong with them unlike the loud ass yamaha thats so loud you never know if its going to blow or not.
power curve felt really easy to use. I never felt like the bike had too much power. Very rideable and good power. Some other 450s have too much power in my opinion.
Why FMF? I have a full Titanium Yoshimura RS-12 on my 2022 RMZ-450 & it barks like a mad dog & the power delivery is incredible. Does the FMF provide better?

82 $2,495 in 90 I bought a brand new bike for somewhere around $3,200-3,400 & in 2023 I paid over 10K what happened to the Prices

my 2020 rmz 450 has done that since new, chain has to be a little tighter than you would expect for the noise to go away.

I love your vids, they always make me wanna ride but my bike is getting too small for me. Keep up the amazing work man!!!

@@DerekHallman ohhhh yeah man! Suspension makes a world of difference
it is not the bike, it is the rider .
I love my Suzuki

Hello .. super video .. je roule en suzuki en j en suis tres content .. 🤙🤘
Chain needs to be tightened
My 2013 KX250f had a really similar chain slap, I always tighten it and have the adjusters right, but it just keeps stretching itself out, pretty sure it’s fucked but I’m gonna try to get a new chain soon, I’ve heard that O-Ring Chains are better than standard chains, can anyone hear confirm that?
Yes 100%. Don't stretch much. X-ring is even better.
Throw away the stock chain guides and install the Acerbis chain guides, the clicking sound will go away
Derek on the 4 fatty! Ight!! 🔥
big 450 guy now 😂
@@DerekHallman YIKES!
Yes
Vids are lit
thank you bro!!
What’s your favorite brand so far?
Hard question! I love the quality of KTM. Their bikes have very nice high end components compared to other brands.
Put on an Acerbis chain guide system and the clacking sound will go away
Chains loose. U should went up a gear for those jumps, that suzuki is a torque monster
chain was sketching me out so I didn't ride it hard or for very long haha. I was hitting most jumps in 3rd and the finish line in 4th!
@DerekHallman sweet man. Bit yea looking good on those tracks. That's how I should done it but man I have to travel to get to a good track. Travel too far for me
The suzuki has kayaba obviously it’s not setup the same but the forks are kayaba

Ima take a 23 RMZ 250 to Roberts here soon 👀
You got one!?

Use the white coupler with an extra tooth on the rear and this bike comes alive.
I'll have to try that thanks
