The real shame with Survivor staying now near 10 seasons in Fiji is we miss out on the great rewards that really emphasised the region of the season and its culture.
Might have to include this point in my eventual "everything that should be changed in Survivor" video considering the likes lol
Even if it meant only one season a year but they switched up locations every time, I would take it in a heartbeat.

The saddest thing is that we don’t get to see some of the best Survivor rewards in HD. A lot of them really show off the remarkable landscapes around the players
I think one of my favorite rewards was Cagayan with Wu, Spencer, and Kass going to the village. And just getting to watch Wu and how he interacted with the children you could just see he was in his element. You could see the smiles he put on those kids faces and I will never forget watching it

Yep. It even made me set aside my utter disdain of Kass for an episode
It had that old school element to it. Reminded me of Ethan with the local children in Africa.
It might not be the best reward, but the one where Keith got to ride on his tuktuk is my favorite

I forgot how much of a flirt Parvati was 😂 also the way Yul asks “your naked to aren’t you?” And then leans back his head to sigh when she confirms is absolutely hilarious
One of my favorites would have to be the one in SJDS where the winners got to deliver baseball supplies to a nearby village and just spend time with the kids...seeing Jaclyn talk about her being unable to conceive because of her medical condition and how seeing Jon interacting with the local kids really convinced her that they'd love to start a family of their own one day
For me, the Marquesus Feast that Sean and Pascal won in Season 4 is always a highlight for me. Politically and culturally speaking, those two were as polar opposites as you can get, but seeing them enjoy that moment together was incredible.
The timing of it was also perfect as it was just after the two of them played a hand in the first major power shift in Survivor history.
It's sad how things that season ended pretty ugly between the two of them.
@@Captain-Sum.Ting-Wong True. That said, I feel like what happened at the final 5 was an inevitably. It was always going to get ugly at that point. I still enjoy seeing them have their moment at the reward.
Also neither one of them went on to win, with both of their more logical level-headed female counterparts making the final 2.

Africa was just stacked as a season in terms of rewards. In addition to the ones you mentioned (both good choices), the AIDS hospital/car and selling the goats in the village could also qualify, IMO.
Gabon didn't stack up as well, but the Gorilla preserve was pretty cool.
Africa was filmed right after the ratings for Outback came in-the highest rated season of all time. So they benefited from having both a budget that allowed them to spare no expense and, probably, a level of prestige that left all sorts of locals eager to be featured on the show and to get the chance to put their best foot forward for what they assumed would be an equally huge audience.
I would say the goats are a top tier reward. It’s great content because of lex’s confessionals and Ethan can’t handle the fries.
How could you miss debbie winning cochran as reward
All she had to do was use her sixth sense abilities to select the empty buff package

I’ll never forget Randy edited that so Cochran’s boat exploded and titled it “fixed it”
I think that one might count as a twist instead of a reward.. but yeah that was awesome. A choice of advantages, advice from Cochran and just like getting to hang out (not the Debbie listened to give advice anyway lol), but one the best parts is that they all thought she was on exile suffering lmao so not only could no one be jealous.. they probably all felt bad for her.
I’m so glad Keith and the tut tut got a mention at the end. Definitely one of my favorite Survivor moments. 😂

If I remember correctly, there was a reward in Cagayan where they got to go have a meal inside this beautiful cave structure and it just looked awesome imo
You do remember correctly. I believe they got their loved one letters as the cherry on top.
The "Bite the MEAT" challenge from South Pacific better be in this list!
The reward (the meat they got) was better than Applebees or 15% off at Denny's combined!
If only it was combined into the Jack and Jill reward

These are reasons why I fell in love with survivor seeing exotic places and animals with people who very likely never even left their town much less their state I wish they would go back to different places all the advantages and stuff doesn’t impress me
I agree. I find it so much more difficult to follow with all of the advantages. Usually, it’s fun to watch because you know what player has a secret idol, but now players can have as many as 4 advantages and it doesn’t really do anything for me as a viewer because I can’t remember who has what.
Reliving some of these through your video was awesome. I do love the new era of Survivor and I'm so grateful it's still running 22 years in, but it has never made sense to me that they cut out the "Experiential" Rewards (especially as the contestants they cast are the type who would enjoy them even more than in the past). Even if it's not a new country every season, just taking them to some of the most beautiful waters and lands in Fiji, or bringing in more locals to present the rewards with a side of culture, would be so much more engrossing to watch than "YOU GET SANDWICHES BACK AT CAMP!!".
I got literal chills watching the active volcano in the Vanuatu episode. I wish things like that still happened on the show
I have to say Palau when Gregg won reward, and took Jenn and Katie. First, they go on a yacht for showers, massages and a feast. Then, they are surprised by their loved ones. Then they all swim with dolphins before spending the night on the yacht. Finally, the loved ones got to visit camp the next morning. Any of those alone would be a good reward, but all three make for one of the best ever.
To add onto the cool volcano rewards, I always thought the volcano sliding reward from Nicaragua would’ve been awesome! It’s no milking your own milk, but it’s pretty cool.
Having been to Siem Reap and Angkor Watt, I have to say it's absolutely amazing and one of the most beautiful and breathtaking things you'll ever see
Ever since I've seen the cultural visit rewards its entirely reshaped my view on traveling and what I want to do in life

Those were all pretty good, but how can any of them compare to that one reward challenge in S41 where the winners got _GRILLED CHEESE???_
I've been on a helium balloon before and it really was an AMAZING experience! (Basically hot air balloon, but it is used with helium, and it floats straight up, then down, more controlled)
I would like to add the Natural Geysers from HvV that was a sight to be hold.
I'm surprised the volcano surfing reward from Nicaragua wasn't mentioned. Maybe not the best reward, but i feel like it is definitely up there.
Never forget that the whaleshark also headbutted [redacted]. What more could you ask for?
I wonder if it's actually true that a Xiaolin practitioner could kill you seventeen times before you hit the ground. This is one aspect of the show I really miss, though: the culture. I know it's about survival and strategy, but give me a WORLD to be invested in, eh?
the gorilla sanctuary in Gabon should be at least an honorable mention
The one with the jelly fish is really cool I've experienced the sam thing in place called Horsea Island in Portsmouth UK the lake is full of jellyfish which have lost their sting sadly it's now closed to the public and owned by the military was really cool thou swimming through the jellies and not being stung.
The Romber double car, movie, and snacks reward was pretty impressive.
Shane getting a cigarette is right up there with the Yul sandwich
Lex and Tom's safari reward was hands down the best ever. It was basically 3 rewards in one. Jeep safari to watch the migration (already a once in a lifetime thing), personal chef and open bar at a luxury resort, then a hot air balloon ride to see a pair of lions hunting (once in 100 lifetimes experience).
I remember they went to the jellyfish lake again in micronesia as a reward with family members
One of my favorite rewards was in season 8 All-Stars where they went on the cruise ship and they got to have the barbecue and the desert. Oh and Boston Rob throwing the golf club in a water by accident was freaking hilarious LOL
I think rob and amber getting Two cars has to be the best reward of all time for sure. Also just players getting cars should atleast get a mention.
Who doesn't love elephants? Me. I'm deathly allergic to them. And yes, that is a thing and I found out that I was allergic to them after having front row seats at a circus when I was a kid. They marched by and I was on the floor struggling to breathe.
I know the stingless jellyfish lake reward sounds cool but as someone who has a phobia of jellyfish I would probably throw that challenge
To be fair, you could always just not jump into the water and I don't think the rest of the tribe would really appreciate you throwing a reward that the rest of them would love.
@@BrettMKW Maybe but just being near them would make me nervous. Hell, watching that part in the video made me nervous

@@Quetzal00358 Ahh ok, my apologies then, I assumed it was a case of you not wanting to swim with them as opposed to you wanting them as far away from you as humanly possible. I do think you would struggle to single handedly throw a challenge without anyone else knowing but I can see why you would try.
@@BrettMKW I mean I am probably overexaggerating but I definitely would not want to swim with them. I wouldn't be surprised if I caved into peer pressure and swam with them after convincing. Happened before with holding a tarantula
@@Quetzal00358 I'm sure nobody would hold it against you if you didn't swim with them, and I don't think production or your tribemates would force you to do it. There's a difference between not wanting to be anywhere near them and going so far as to throw a challenge because of it, thereby taking the reward away from everyone else. I understand you wouldn't tell them but they'd still almost certainly figure it out.
I think the reward where rob and amber BOTH got a car on their first date was pretty great.
Such a shame that Survivor seems to favor Quantity over Quality nowadays, otherwise it'd be like taking a tour of the entire world with every new season

I really miss the emphasis on the local culture and the rewards built around it. It's why Africa is one my favorite seasons.

The jellyfish lake has left such a strong imprint on me. Palau has been my bucket list destination for 20 years. Im finally going next spring to swim with those jellies
Those early day rewards were incredible. Season 3 Africa migration of the wildabeast in the hot air balloon reward imprinted on me big time!
The China rewards were actually next level

Honorable mention to Colby getting to hang out with Australian cowboys all night. That one was cool
That one was super unique for sure!
Idk man that 1 fish reward for 2nd place in 41 was a huge reward.

The food rewards always got me hungry. :D
As much as I love food, I would go completely insane for a nice hot shower if I was on Survivor.

As someone who has swam in jellyfish lake it will always be jellyfish lake.
I miss those early years when Survivor was about different cultural experiences. The incredible scenery and watching how a new group of people work with the elements. It was fun and I couldn’t wait for each season to begin and went through withdrawals in between. Now we have massive budget cuts as the show struggles along on life support. I wish we could go back to the glory days.

It's been a long time since I've watched s2, but I literally have no memory of them giving everyone pieces if coral. The entire time between the start of this story, until the time you tell us "it's illegal and mark had to apologize of his behalf", all I kept thinking was "wait.. aren't you not allowed to do that? How did that work? Was it actually from the reef? Is there some sort of gift shop where they limit how much a person can buy..? Did they just give them permission for survivor?" etc. lmao I knew that didn't sound right
