- I MESSED UP. I seriously misjudged this challenge and my mistake in ordering lead to my demise! Today we try a Thai boat noodle challenge with 20 bowls of noodles - the prize for eating these noodles is also the weirdest challenge I have ever seen.. When ordering the challenge I said "sure" when asked if I wanted them spicy (i requested the "normal way") - this was the worst decision as this MASSIVE challenge then turned into a spicy noodle challenge! This beef noodle soup, tom yum soup, pork noodle, dry noodle, stir-fry noodle and Thai noodle challenge was at Ban kuay In Bangkok Thailand - the original boat noodle restaurant and one of the most famous noodle restaurants in Bangkok known for having the best boat noodles in Bangkok Thailand. The bowls cost 18THB which is about $0.60-70 usd and are an amazing size, potion and value for what you get! Our goal was to eat 20 bowls and win the prize... Can we do it or will this spicy food challenge be a joel hansen fail?

Not so much ordering, but going to a Korean BBQ place in Toronto with a bunch of people and not paying attention to who was cooking what, or which meat was ready to eat. I'll leave the rest to your imagination ;-)

I'm sure he can double or triple the amount he eats. Thai foods usually have little portions. He takes only 4 bites to finish one bowl.
@@RatanakTevy yeah the bowls are small... its like 3-4 bites per a bowl. I wont pay full price for that bowl. A bowl is like a cup. They should full the bowl up because no one can accept paying full price for such a small bowl.

Which is why lots of people I know especially from Australia retire there. The food is amazing and cheap and can eat for 10.00 a day. Try eating 10.00 of food in the US a day would leave you like a bag of bones in month

Holy cow! Those boat noodles are HUGE. i was trying to put it in "Instant noodle" terms and you probably did a total of 30 containers of instant noodles with egg, scallions and the works
What do you do after a gigantic meal? Sleeping? Sport? Does the latter still work with a full stomach!?

When you said "In North America we don't call after our wait staff to get us stuff", I think you meant Canada. Quite a lot of people do that down here in the US, and often not very politely.
Thailand spice hits different then from the Thai restaurants in the states…in the the states they cater to Americans so it won’t be as spicy as when your eating in that country you eat what spice level the locals will eat.

Hi Joel, I have an odd question and not sure if it's been asked before.. With eating a lot of spicy and pepper hot foods, do you experience hemorrhoids afterwards? If so, what was your remedy?

I love the wide ribbon noodles! I get "drunken noodles" at my fave Thai restaurant. I tell them i like the heat level at a 3/5. Medium is always good.

Normal spicy for the Thais means very spicy for foreigners. Next time try to start with "phed noi" little spicy or "mai phed" not spicy, and then you can season the food to your taste because we always have fish sauce, sugar, and chillies on the table.
I would not leave the hotel room for a day after eating that spicy food.

Maybe I'm crazy, but if someone asked me, "Who has the spiciest food in the world?" I'm pretty sure I would guess Thailand. Curious how Joel was surprised that "spicy" in Thailand is basically deadly to us westerners. Even their "mild" destroys most of us.
Sorry you had such a terrible experience Joel but I would have loved to see how many bowls you could have eaten if not for the spice. Way to power through it and get the job done anyway. We could see of course you didn't want to finish but you did anyway. Great job, Joel!!!!
