Beautiful country. Sometimes you have to dress up for the varmints. You know, jeans, long sleeves. Keeps the bugs out.😊 wonderful smiles there Andrea. Great editing.
Thanks Richard. Didn’t expect those flies
I recall reading somewhere that the purpose behind 2 or 3 seat outhouses was actually not so everyone used the facilities together. It was so you rotated the seats, so the buildup wasn't concentrated in one spot. Kinda makes sense.
@@DeborahFlorian-gy6lw we’ve heard the same thing Deborah and it does make sense plus you have the option of company 😂
That's exactly right. No one wants to do their business with someone sitting right there next to them. But a 3 holer will last 3 times as long as a one holer before needing to be moved.
What a find, this place is. The three of you certainly earned your adventures' stripes, with those horrible pests attacking you... as well as what you endured, nosewise... They did seem to have an abundance of outhouses, and facilities. This was a very interesting place, Andrea and Steven.
And totally unexpected Rhonda. Shame we couldn’t find the mine
Great find! The plastic container full towels. My guess left behind by accident.
Possibly Wayne
@@PinInTheAtlas The towels look almost new.
@@waynebender8835 and the bath mat
I do hope that young man doesn't explore alone ❤️That could be fixed up to stay in ,a lot of work but how cool a find 2weeks could make it very livable You 2 are the best.Thank you👍❤️🇺🇸
Actually Gayle he does! But it’s fun exploring with someone else. We’ve known Dave for several years. Check out his channel too.
Fascinating place. Never seen such swarms of Horse Flies. Darned things take a pound of flesh per bite. Where I lived in NY, it was Black Flies in the Spring, and Deer Flies in the Summer. Horse Flies were kind of rare, but they sure could give you a nasty bite. Here in our part of West Virginia, its the Mozzies that are the most annoying. I haven't seen more than a few Horse Flies in all the years we've been here. Thanks for taking us on your adventure, sans the flies!
Glad you joined us Kris. And whatever those flies were they hurt 😞
Steve and Andrea thank you for the adventure
@@michaelgalea5148 you’re welcome Michael. Nice to hear from you.
Another Awesome adventure with my Pin and coffee got to watch in the morning cool place
@@RaymondCoggins-xd2re just having a cuppa tea 🫖 Earl Grey hot
Thanks!
@@richardbeee as always Richard. We ❤️ you.
Looks like an old miners camp😊
It was but we couldn’t find the mine.
Very interesting a pleasant break from Politics for Me . Nice
@@mikekares-b8q glad you enjoyed it Mike. Hope to see you on more of our adventures
Cool Adventure!
WOW.. what a thumbnail !!
Lot of good structures to explore.
And totally unexpected
People get hantavirus from contact with rodents like rats and mice, especially when exposed to their urine, droppings, and saliva. It can also spread through a bite or scratch by a rodent, but this is rare.
Looks like you found a two stage mine. First time it was mined quite a while. Most likely in the 1934 era, Then opened a second time when silver went to 50 dollars an ounce. Yes, I do believe it was a silver mine.
@@kenp9469 thanks Ken. We have no info about this place at all
Hi Steve and Andrea, interesting video. I am always intrigued to see 2 and 3 seater loos. Was using the facilities a social activity in some circles? It certainly was for ancient Romans. I remember seeing about a 10 seater at a Roman vills in Sicily.
So funny. We say the same thing.
Neat find and adventure! Maybe not as suitable for lunchtime viewing as other videos! lol I don't know, but I've found the clouds of black flies and mosquitos far worse than horse flies ... especially with your pants down around your ankles! Just an fyi ... the well pump there is a deep well type and is located inside the well casing. The blue-green tank is a pressure tank. It has an air filled rubberized bladder inside that compresses when filled with water. It allows you to have water pressure without the well pump kicking on every time you turn on the tap. I thought Andrea was going to do a little time traveling towards the end of the video with those special effects!
@@normstephens8354 ah ha. You liked the special effects then Norm?
Thanks for all that info. And yes those bloody flies. I was calling them horse flies but they may be the black flies. Either way they attacked and hurt 😞
@@PinInTheAtlas Yes ... I liked the special effects! Blackflies are small like a knat and may be called noseeums. The horse flies are big. Both draw blood with their bites.
@@normstephens8354 ok. These are horse flies. Big black ones. Nasty. Bury their heads in your skin.
We’ve come across no seeums. Didn’t know that’s what you call black flies
@@PinInTheAtlas The blackflies tend to go after moist areas on your skin. Seems like a lot of places have their own local name for them, but it's the same bug. More welts per square inch than the horse fly!
@@normstephens8354 yuck
I love your videos 💕🇬🇧
@@teresapaskell5459 thank you so much Teresa. That means a lot.
I've actually had those Horse Flys chasing me Biting me on the back ,I was screaming to my wife to swat them She was running away .LOL thanks Honey .
@@mikekares-b8q 🤣nasty little buggers aren’t they?

Well hello to the Explorer's out on a adventure seeing the falling down buildings makes me wonder and see all the time and planning it took and living in these areas was like. And thinking if there dreams come true before they all left with💰or not 🤔
So true Case. We ask ourselves those same questions
❤
Another excellent video. Heard you mention something about Pasadena.
Yes we used to live there just off route 66. Great location.
@@PinInTheAtlas I grew up there myself.
Good Morning from Montana I met you at the gas station
@@nenamalmend8023 good morning Nena. It was great meeting you. Thank you for watching and commenting. We hope you enjoy our explores and you continue to join us on our adventures. We post new content every Tuesday
Them horse flies surely enjoy human flesh!
But what a cool location! Did you see/find the actual mine?
No we didn’t find it! Didn’t see any waste piles really either
I'm guessing the building with the kitchen and the core samples was originally a cafeteria repurposed for the storage of core samples later.
@@craigbrowning9448 that’s what we think especially with the huge bunkhouse across the way
The Good Lord gave the horse a tail to keep the flies off!
Judging by the outbuildings, the mining camp seems to be older than 1934. I think it’s been used in series over the years
@@josephwinkler4863 thanks Joseph. We thought 1930s too.
What's the Loos, I would speculate the one with the three seats was built first and other people that liked their privacy built the others afterwards!
The thing that popped into my head isn't the great buildings and all the outhouses. It was, the pack rats. You find them almost everywhere you go and it just dawned on me you are in the middle of nowhere and there are rats. Just shows you the obscure things you learn watching you. I signed up at kool open look forward to checking it out.
Apparently wherever you are there will be a rat within 6 feet at least that’s what I read!!!
Thanks for signing up to Koldopen. Please comment on every video. That’s what the networks are looking for. Really appreciate your support ❤️
I'd really like to know where the place is and history about it.
@@purplemoose6431 we have no idea about the history. Didn’t know this existed we were just driving all the different mountain roads and stumbled upon it
Couldn't spot the Loo @19:33.
I worry about you 2 catching the Hunta virus in the packrat messes. Otherwise very good video. Gramma candy
We disinfect everything after an explore Candy. Thanks for caring ❤️
Sometimes you just gotta have a butt load of money
@@robertlyman9789 that would be nice!
So I spent my summers on my grandparents farm. They lived off the land hunting fishing garden. I’ve got no family left and I’m sick of modern life. I’d never mess with history but do you think someone could go maybe not so far from one of these sites and just kinda disappear from society and live a peaceful rest of their life? Serious question. Not looking for trouble just peace
@@willanderson5088 we think there’s people already doing it! Wouldn’t fancy it in the winter in Montana though
@@PinInTheAtlas about the same as MN winters maybe a bit more wind.
Nice thumbnail. Click bait.
@@dm55 why is it clickbate? It’s Andrea standing at the filming location that we unexpectedly found on a deserted mountain road. Nothing click bate about it!
Thanks!
