I grew up in the area you live in, and I've never ever in my life seen a grizzly there. I now live south of the border and hike the Cascades periodically on the Washington side too. However, in April of this year the National Park Service website noc.gov stated "agencies have decided to restore grizzly bears to the North Cascades ecosystem through the translocation of grizzly bears from other ecosystems in the Rocky Mountains or interior British Columbia. The decision is the culmination of an Environmental Impact Statement process that began in 2022."

I was taught life sustaining back country survival skills through Scouting, which emphasized "preparedness". I am very proud of your adventure spirit, love for nature and being in the outdoors. Love your videography and drone footage. It is my calling too. Being prepared for most anything adverse is key to having and enjoyable, worry free outing whether short or long distance. Along with modern day navigation, i.e. GPS, which can and will fail, please carry a compass if you don't already. Bear spray is very important and get trained to carry a fire-arm. There's a reason why most people living or touring the outback esp in places like Alaska for e.g. travel with side arms or large bore rifles. Also, very important to wear long pants for protection against poisonous plants, etc. Video content = A+ I have subscribed. Greetings from Washington State!!!

I can totally relate to the flow of thoughts while walking. Being outdoors and walking is by far the best way to get the brains going. Getting those thoughts down is the tricky part. Sometimes you do, sometimes you don´t but by that time the idea has gone way off track so far that nobody can find it anymore...

Not "I want to spend a billion dollars " or "I want to own a fancy boat right now" - but that we can actually decide what we want to achieve, and then work towards it. It's so easy to slip into daydreaming, or commiserating with ourselves for our current situation. But really its almost always up to us - make a goal, and take steps towards it. So thanks for the reminder.
The m1956 Load Carrying Equipment is a great option for light gear hikers. It can easily hold 5-10lbs of kit with two 1qt canteens. It can stow away in a chuck/camp box or larger ruck.
Agreed, the only thing we don’t have going for us is our left wing government. It really is a shame. Hopefully this election we get a conservative government and then next year the federal conservatives win. Can’t happen soon enough.
This is so cool to see you hiking here! I have been extremely lucky the past two years and got the chance to work on this trail doing maintenance with local crews. It is definitely one of the tougher hikes in the area, but the view is sooo worth it at the top. If you go anytime before mid August, you can typically find snow at the top and have a snowball fight with friends. I'm not sure how likely you are to find a grizzly here, but last time I went there was a little black bear in the parking lot. Glad to see you enjoyed the hike!

I hiked this solo in 2012. Kind of creepy when I reached the spot where the crash happened, maybe that's why I found it creepy. Beautiful views, wish I had a drone then, (Never heard of drones in 2012). Hike was beautiful, but the road was bumpy. Hopefully I can do it again one day. I took some amazing panorams at this place. Cheers and thanks for bringing back the memories.
@@siamakaghazeinali I know of one trail, one that goes to mt Slesse, you can see the peak from Chilliwack, where I used to live. Not sure if it's the one since I was told you needed rock climbing gear to do it.

A couple years ago I was in my SxS in Montana on a remote trail, and came across a black bear up ahead on the trail. I stopped. He stopped. I watched. He watched back. I had my bear spray and my 10mm with bear loads just in case. He moved on, and so did I. The only thing I shot were photos. That's a gorgeous area where you are!

Madison, I have three criticisms. 1) I Dont see bear spray. 2) You do not have a Garmin Inreach or Personal locator beacon. 3) You are alone. This makes this hike very iffy at best.
It's a good thing you didn't bring your tent and set it up at the monument. That's a good way to get your tent haunted. Ghosts can haunt most nylon tents but not sil-polyester ones because the silicone blocks the ghosts and they can't pass through it.
Just to be clear, that area, Mt Slesse, is NOT grizzly territory. Grizzlies haven't been recorded there in many, many years. Lots of black bears though, saw 5 this year on various hikes in the area, some quite close (within 100').
Thanks for the insight! Genuinely thought I had a higher chance of running into a grizzly. I don’t think it’s impossible still… but definitely more likely to see a black bear.
@@MadisonClysdalee I guess nothing is impossible....but they haven't been sighted in that area in 20+ years, and conservation officers say they're not there. So, you'd probably have a bigger chance of being caught in a rock slide. That said, there's plenty of cougars in that area, and there have been some attacks....I'd rather meet a black than a cougar, that's for sure!
Hun, if you’d watched the number of bear attack videos I have, you wouldn’t be doing this, I guarantee you that. Having a dog is worse than not having one, they often will trigger bear attacks, plus they stand no chance against a Grizzly or even a Black Bear.
You're wrong... You are focusing on those that are unlucky. It's like shark attacks. In the end it's a numbers game. all bears will avoid you if possible, unless they're threatened ot hungry.
I don't know where you got the idea that the area has grizzly bears. I have hiked the Mt. Slesse Memorial Trail about 5 times solo. I have never encountered nor heard of grizzly sightings around the area. It's not a viable grizzly habitat. I've also explored Chilliwack Valley extensively (over 100 times) since I live nearby and never seen grizzly bears.

After my wife and i went to the Canso plane crash on Vancouver island i've wanted to discover more locations exactly like this! What a climb wow! The geology of the place is incredible, smooth rocks and the fantastic view. 😮 indeed! The ghost don't want you to visit haha but great catch!

If the foliage is that dense, I'd recommend having the safety off the bear spray so you can deploy it at a second's notice.

Madison, I have three criticisms. 1) I Dont see bear spray. 2) You do not have a Garmin Inreach or Personal locator beacon. 3) You are alone. This makes this hike very iffy at best.

It's a good thing you didn't bring your tent and set it up at the monument. That's a good way to get your tent haunted. Ghosts can haunt most nylon tents but not sil-polyester ones because the silicone blocks the ghosts and they can't pass through it.
OMG, I’d be hearing ghosts even during the day! And I get all yappy with me dogs on walks or hikes! 😂
Just to be clear, that area, Mt Slesse, is NOT grizzly territory. Grizzlies haven't been recorded there in many, many years. Lots of black bears though, saw 5 this year on various hikes in the area, some quite close (within 100').
Probably should have said bear country but a black bear to her is probably a grizzly.
Grizzly will get her clicks.....
Thanks for the insight! Genuinely thought I had a higher chance of running into a grizzly. I don’t think it’s impossible still… but definitely more likely to see a black bear.
@@MadisonClysdalee I guess nothing is impossible....but they haven't been sighted in that area in 20+ years, and conservation officers say they're not there. So, you'd probably have a bigger chance of being caught in a rock slide. That said, there's plenty of cougars in that area, and there have been some attacks....I'd rather meet a black than a cougar, that's for sure!

Hun, if you’d watched the number of bear attack videos I have, you wouldn’t be doing this, I guarantee you that. Having a dog is worse than not having one, they often will trigger bear attacks, plus they stand no chance against a Grizzly or even a Black Bear.
You are absolutely right. Never bring a dog into bear country.
Quit fear mongering. Bear attacks are quite rare.

You're wrong... You are focusing on those that are unlucky. It's like shark attacks. In the end it's a numbers game. all bears will avoid you if possible, unless they're threatened ot hungry.

I don't know where you got the idea that the area has grizzly bears. I have hiked the Mt. Slesse Memorial Trail about 5 times solo. I have never encountered nor heard of grizzly sightings around the area. It's not a viable grizzly habitat. I've also explored Chilliwack Valley extensively (over 100 times) since I live nearby and never seen grizzly bears.

After my wife and i went to the Canso plane crash on Vancouver island i've wanted to discover more locations exactly like this! What a climb wow! The geology of the place is incredible, smooth rocks and the fantastic view. 😮 indeed! The ghost don't want you to visit haha but great catch!
I live in BC. Mt. Slesse memorial hike isn’t in grizzly territory lol
