Brings me back to when I was stationed at Homestead AFB, Homestead FL. You could catch ANYTHING from peacock and largemouth bass to tarpon and snook in the brackish canals
I live in Florida and look forward to your Everglade roaming videos. I love the combination of exploration and fishing. They inspire me to get in my Jeep and make it downstate. Thanks
It's always so much fun watching you fish, man...and you honestly simplify things to the level of every common fellow and gal who enjoy fishing the simple, ole fashioned way with normal gear everybody can get--without the 50 mile trips on power boats or $500.00 per day guides or what have you.
Those Nikkos float really well. Sometimes I just use a hook and fish topwater with it. Caught one of my biggest bass that way. Thanks for bringing them to my attention.
I did the same kind of fishing in the Everglades and Miami area for about six months back in 2016. I started to catch peacock bass and started to take some of the people I was with to catch them.
Great video! Brings back memories I used to live in Miami and fish in that exact spot along Tamiami trail in Big Cypress. Watch out for water moccasin when walking along the banks.
Thanks for reminding me how much fun it was fishing ditches in central and south Florida. Worst thing that ever happened to me was a friend taking me Snook and Red fishing around Everglade City and this Corps of Engineers “S” turn at Port of the Islands. Ruined any other kind of fishing if you’re into top water and throwing/skipping lures.
John glad your having a great time keep em coming. I thought peacock assumed peacock bass had teeth maybe down south American thanks for your videos and most importantly your passion for the lord
Dude! You need to get on the other side of that guard rail. You are way too trusting of those people flying by. Love how excited you get on every catch. God Bless and Merry Christmas. Stay Safe!
That last Oscar had amazing colors! My aquariums are not large enough for these fish. I do have Black Convicts, a smaller Cichlid, that are problably in there with the rest of them.
I was in many of these exact spots recently. Many of the places are my go to fishing spots down there. Peacock bass seem to have spread through most of the canals.
If you ever wanna know where some “secret” spots are I grew up down there. My dad ran fishing charters for over 40yrs there. I can point you in the direction of some freshwater monsters. I’ve caught 4.5ft freshwater tarpon peacock bass you name it.
About 3 of those Cychlids, seasoned and coated in corn meal and frying in the cast iron skillet would be wonderful!! White, flaky meat! They're delish!! Loved the video!
I can't wait to go. Gonna be out there in like a week for 4 days. Going to be targeting LMB, Peacock, cichlid's, gar, snakehead and some light inshore and if we have time some keys fishing.
@@francismarion6400 Between the constrictors, iguanas, various other reptiles, South American and African fish, it’s been pretty much wrecked and will never be the same.
Great video sir, some good fish for sure. I just got back from my 1st trip of my channel. Got 1st episode up now and working on the 2nd episode currently. Watching your channel gives me tips and ideas so thank you for bringing us along.
Well that was cool John, happy to see you down in Florida, I would like to fish there, but I gotta get some new tires first, I'm about 175 - 200 miles north from were your at, I'm going fishing Christmas day, looking forward to more of your videos
Loved your video. Wondered about fishing that area. Sorry, but had to laugh when your cast hit that tree because that was what I was thinking my cast would do.
Creek fishing i am a south florida miami native and now living in Alabama many years ago my friend use to tell me man we can't eat those oscars and seclids but later after fishing in the Okeechobee lake we caught tons of them and please don't just catch them they are just as good as brim and even crappie to eat. So take my advice take a few home to cook. The invasive species of oscars, seclids, and peacocks, and snakeheads are good!!!! If you want to throw in a few iguanas you will definitely understand south florida...Thanks for you wonderful videos..
@@CreekFishingAdventures Yes like you i was ok let's see and after the taste test it was like dam. This is good so thank you for responding back and the next time you catch either species u won't be disappointed.. Now the iguanas I am still looking at that but most people say if you can get over the looks of this lizard you will be licking your thumbs …Thank you for response
I like that @ 7:18ish, using the good ole Jimmy Houston quick release system. Try barbless, catch just as many and easy to release them. Looks like fun, thanks for the video.
Hey, good to see you made it. Hope you're having fun. Yep, I know exactly where you are. Yep, the majority of them will be Mayan Chichlids or Oscars, or Black Bass, Spots, or Bowfin and Gar. All of them are fun. Nice work, Peacock on a Helgramite. woohoo. Glad you're having fun down here. Oh and Merry Christmas and hopefully we all have a good New Year.
Great video pal. I’ve been wanting to do a trip like that for years. Always enjoy your adventures. Maybe we can make a local trip together one day. I’m literally 10 minutes away from the Conasauga in extreme N. Ga. Hope you and your family have a merry Christmas
Used to fish The Tamiami Trail canals the same way. Bass and snook galore. The Oscars and the Cyclids or the peacocks weren't there yet when i fished it. looks like they've taken over. Not sure i'm as excited about them as you are what with the natives apparently being pushed out. Used to be BIIIG fish in those cuts.
Do people keep these to eat or do they target larger fish. They are about the size of tilapia. Maybe do a catch and cook on the roadside. In a safe place of course.
Man, John! That's the same trip I'm planning for the not-too-distant future, except I'll be starting in Miami and working my way west, "collecting" species as I go. They don't have to be trophy sized, just the target species. I'll end up on the west coast of Florida, and will be trying to add a snook and a tarpon to the collection. Again, they don't have to be trophy sized, just fish that I caught! Great video, keep 'em coming!
I like that you’re more a wing it fisherman you tuber, when a lot of those guys down south are more like look at me I get the biggest fish. Good stuff, i’ll go get a 6 pound peacock merry grimace
Except for one kind of Peacock Bass, the rest of those fish seem to originate from central and South America? Is there an issue with exotics taking over the rivers there as well?
I did this a few years back with a Buddy. Fished creeks next to Lake Okeechobee all the way to alligator ally then back north. Nothing but fun caught a ton of bass some freaking oscar bluegills a few snake head and 2 baby tarpon. And a bunch of gators
Man you are going to have to start taking you a five gallon bucket when you go on adventures like that. Looks like mealtimes for a month went back in there. Lol
Thank you for sharing this video with today and you are catching the fish thats on my bucket list John. God bless you sir. And stay safe on your trip sir. And i want to wish you a very Merry Christmas....🙏❤🙏❤🙏😊🙂😊🌲🌲🌲🌲
I live in Weston Fl … those are Mayan Cichlids .. about 15 years ago there were none anywhere…now they have taken over … Spotted tilapia snakeheads and Mayan cichlids all invasive species… Peacock bass were brought here intentionally in the 1980s
I'd take my kids where we could catch a brook trout on every cast. A nice small stream in the mountains of Colorado. One stream I liked to fish would yield 5 different species: brook trout, rainbow, brown, cutthroat, cutbow hybrid, in a single day. All nymph fishing with a 6 1/2 foot Cortland Black Diamond fly rod and a hare's ear nymph I liked tie.
Brings me back to when I was stationed at Homestead AFB, Homestead FL. You could catch ANYTHING from peacock and largemouth bass to tarpon and snook in the brackish canals

Nice job. Those “roadstops “ along that hwy are like a fishtank. And yep, those were little peacocks in the water for sure.
It's always so much fun watching you fish, man...and you honestly simplify things to the level of every common fellow and gal who enjoy fishing the simple, ole fashioned way with normal gear everybody can get--without the 50 mile trips on power boats or $500.00 per day guides or what have you.
What an insane place to fish! It truly is like fishing in a aquarium!
True we have fish everywhere
Those Nikkos float really well. Sometimes I just use a hook and fish topwater with it. Caught one of my biggest bass that way.
Thanks for bringing them to my attention.
What an interesting fishing spot. Those fish were beautiful and had amazing colors. Great video!
2:24 I saw 2 peacock bass in the water when you were showing with the polar glasses, they had 3 stripes on the side
I did the same kind of fishing in the Everglades and Miami area for about six months back in 2016. I started to catch peacock bass and started to take some of the people I was with to catch them.
I used to keep Oscars in a 75-gallon aquarium, and they got so big they were scary to feed. Lol
Fun video! Thank you, and merry Christmas! 🎄
Great video! Brings back memories I used to live in Miami and fish in that exact spot along Tamiami trail in Big Cypress. Watch out for water moccasin when walking along the banks.
Watching from chilly Indiana, looks like fun. Merry Christmas to you and yours. Keep them coming for all of our enjoyment.
Watching from Buffalo NY I’m really enjoying the cool fish you are catching ! Have a merry Christmas!
John thx for another great years of fishing videos, and all you stand for, merry Christmas and keep up the great work
Once again thank you so much for getting us away from the real world on your adventure down in South Florida

Watching you catch fish on Christmas Eve mornin. Doesn’t get much better!
I was in many of these exact spots recently. Many of the places are my go to fishing spots down there. Peacock bass seem to have spread through most of the canals.
I really miss fishing the Glades growing up. I need to get back home asap and catch some big snook! You reminded me I need to book a trip asap!
Beautiful fish!! Florida is a hot destination for some great fishing action.
Let's go man!
If you ever wanna know where some “secret” spots are I grew up down there. My dad ran fishing charters for over 40yrs there. I can point you in the direction of some freshwater monsters. I’ve caught 4.5ft freshwater tarpon peacock bass you name it.

Amen! Keep the clips coming, John!
Watching and thinking, "Man I'd like to be fishing too!!!" Good video! Merry Christmas!
Man I LOVE those canals all along the roadways in south FL. My son caught an 8 lb bass in one last year on one of my singing trips. God bless.

I Will Be Watching For The Next Episode
been trying get u fish creek 35 mins from where your from

i know, still havent been there yet
A unique place to fish. I’m not sure if I’m happy or sad. Florida’s eco system is wrecked. But it makes a great video. I look forward to more.
No it is not WRECKED. LOL Just too many yankee's using too much fertilizer on their lawns.
@@francismarion6400 Between the constrictors, iguanas, various other reptiles, South American and African fish, it’s been pretty much wrecked and will never be the same.
It is NOT wrecked, the ecosystem is amazing but there’s just some unwanted non native species
Great video John thanks, great to see you fishing and Merry Christmas.
My old stomping grounds. Been 16 years since I left for Wisconsin. I used to work for Big Cypress National Preserve. Brings back memories.
Going here on Saturday, hopefully I can get some of this same luck. Great video man!

Fishing is even better in the summer. Hot with lots of bugs but the tropical fish like it better.
Loved your video. Wondered about fishing that area. Sorry, but had to laugh when your cast hit that tree because that was what I was thinking my cast would do.
Another great fishing adventure. Thanks for sharing.
Too cold to do much fishing here in NJ so will just enjoy watching someone else get a few. Merry Christmas to you good sir!

I was on the road for a while through the south. A Pocket Fisherman provide me a lot of food from stock ponds and flooded ditches.
