Victor Frankenstein in this is such a complex and horrible person. He allows Eric to call him father while also reducing his existence down to just an experiment. Not truly treating him as a son. Eric's lack of emotional understanding is a clear result of Victor's neglect. It's almost like he creates the bride simply to shut Eric up. Then he proceeds to give the bride much more attention and care than he ever would have given to Eric. Victor treats her as a child but then turns that around. Victor proceeds to seduce the bride who should symbolically be his daughter. Poor bride who is too new to the world to know how wrong that is. Remember that this version of Victor is said to be married as well. He cheats on his partner with his own creation. This guy is pure EVIL.

We only see this through the Bride's flashback and of course in this flashback she loved him so it's all framed very favorably but the whole thing was weird and wrong.
There's an old horror movie called The Bride from the 80's that was the first time I saw this concept, you should check it out to see how dark it got. Bonus points for having Sting (The Musician) play the Doctor.
Bride's innocent eyes when she looks at Victor the first time remind me of when I saw my nephew the first time, the day after he was born. He just looked at me with these innocent, slightly scared eyes, clearly trying to figure out WHAT I was, let alone WHO. This whole scene in general makes me really think about the concept of birth for newborns. One moment your in the womb, the next your suddenly existing in this MASSIVE universe with NO idea what anything is or what to do, or if your in danger or not. Honestly makes perfect sense why babies usually cry the second their out when you think about it...
The shock they get from the chips in their heads must be insanely painful if it's the worst thing The Bride has felt given she was created via being struck by lightning.
Makes me want to see John Hurt's mad scientist (Doctor John Buchanan) from "Frankenstein Unbound" show up as an antagonist. His "monster" is basically a planet-wrecking superweapon.
What I like about the difference between both Bride and Eric(The Monster) is how the other one barely learns everything about love while the other is starting to learn more about the world
Loved the twist In og novel , Victor destroyed the Bride before her resurrection at thought of entire species of his creation and Victor was never a certified Doctor just a chemist, amateur scientist and dropout without degree
