I also have the Blackmagic 4k on the Crane 2. FYI, if you want to mount a telephoto lens directly onto the Crane 2, or any comparable gimbal for that matter, you will need a plate to shift the camera further off to the side and a set of weights to clamp onto the gimbal arm in order to balance it. I did this with my setup and it works beautifully.
Great video and setup. Would like to know your methods for how to achieve focus when on a setup like this. I’m guessing it’s more for planned shots as opposed to run and gun.
Hi Nic, thank you for the comment. For the lens I am using 12-35mm 2.8 I can use the auto focus either by pressing and holding on the screen or leaning over and pushing the button on the camera. I wish there was a way to program a button on the back of the crane to lock focus but unfortunately not yet available. We also use a similar setup with the a6300's and i works amazingly well with the continuous af.
Great video mate! I'm looking in to getting this as my next camera. I was on a job this week where we had the Pocket 4K as B-cam on a Ronin-M and that was my first time operating one of these small beasts! We had the Sigma 18-35mm (+ adapter) on there and just used the Canon LP-E6 batteries since you can switch them without taking the camera off the Ronin-M but I like what you did here with battery solution 'cause if you have to take the camera off the gimbal to change a battery even with a quick release plate that would be very annoying.
DUDE!!! You are a LIFE SAVER!!! I've been using my lp-e6 batteries and it runs through those things like nobodies business!! I'm ordering the tilta plate as we speak. If my camera last 5-6hrs with that battery, that's a game changer. Is it the same for the 6k?
9 Studio Productions glad you like the video! I’d appreciate a sub if it helped you out and I’d love you forever if you use my link to order the plate haha I believe it’s exactly the same with the 6k yes. It will be night and day When you start using npfs :)
Thanks heaps for the video! Does the screw adapter come with the grip or do you need to purchase it separately? If so what sort of adapter is it? Thanks!
Hi, thanks! I’d love a sub if you found the video helpful. It doesn’t come with the grip but it’s this Fomito 1/4" to 3/8" Convert Screw Adapter for Tripod,Monopod, Ballhead, Stand and Video light www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01CZTJ234/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_jwUTDbX1HDV8M
Lee Donohue honestly I’m not sure but I don’t see why not? The camera would have to mounted a long way back which might impact viewing the screen but theoretically it should work?
Chris Watkins Media yea ima have to try that out once my bmpcc gets here. im just looking for a solid follow focus enabled gimbal for whenever i need gimbal shots, the camera just has such an awkward shape haha
@@leedonohue yeah, I do have the zhiyun follow focus but i have never actually used it. I dont think the follow focus would have much of an impact on balancing but the lens with the adaptor would... I still think it could work!
thank you for the advice
i love watching these videos and not having a clue what your talking about, but i cant stop watching
HAHA Keep it up my friend! I need the watch hours lol.

Ho there, nice tutorial! Could you reconfirm the adapter is a 1/4" to 3/8" thread?

you think this set up would balance with a speedbooster and a sigma 18-35 and the zhiyun follow focus?

Works with the 6k as well?
Mateocaptures theoretically it should work no problem.
And crane 3 ?
I think the crane 3 would cope better than the crane 2 tbh
Would that setup work with the crane 3?
I’m about 95% sure it would work with the crane 3 :)
@@ChrisWatkinsMedia Davin, did you find out if it does?
What crane is that?
Hi, it's the crane 2 but i am sure it would work with the crane 1 and crane 1.2 :)
You need a monitor over 1500 nits to use it outside
Jay Freeman I’ve found the unbuilt monitor alright, much better than my old Sony’s.

Nice video 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 thank you so much fallow do video for BMPCC4K now I go to fallow you

This should work with a ronin s too, right?
Yes it should no problem
