      I worked at the nursing home from 11. :00 at night till 7:00 in the morning for years so I think I'm just totally messed up in my sleep patterns. I can not sleep more than 4 hours at a time and if I do that it's like a miracle but I'll go back to sleep for a maybe 2 hours. You know a little later on so it's not that I'm not getting sleep. It's just that I can't get it all at once and I just deal with it. Of course being 80 this year doesn't help. Lol!

I was sleeping for a couple hours or so in the afternoon today. Why is it that I get sleepy and it's so easy to do that in the noon as opposed to the night?

    • @thesleepcoachschool8192
      @thesleepcoachschool8192  Рік тому +1

      Hi Paul!
      Welcome to the channel, glad you found it. Basically what we teach is that when we do something in an attempt to try to make sleep happen, like taking melatonin, it becomes a sleep effort. Because sleep is a passive process, anything with you to try to force sleep with some struggles sleeping for us. On the other hand, when we’re not doing anything to try to force sleep, it happens by itself.

      It wont work during withdrawal period

    • @PowersBenzoCoaching
      @PowersBenzoCoaching 9 місяців тому

      @@buangbenzo That's not entirely true. It is true that chemical withdrawal indeed can play a significant role, specifically in disrupting our sleep, but what Daniel highlights in his work is still the other half of the equation. I'd caution you with this attitude towards sleep, as it creates a victim mentality and a sense of hopelessness that the amygdala-based response part of the insomnia will feed on. I've worked with thousands of people at this point coming off of Benzos, and probably about half of them still sleep, albeit not always great. For most people, the tougher sleep struggles come within the first week of a taper, especially if it's a big drop in dose or you've been cold turkey off the meds. Benzo withdrawal absolutely creates and exacerbates sleep issues, but it's also a two-part process: chemical vs amygdala (hyperarousal).

  • @lisasellsproperty

    This is how i got started, back pain. Valium for 3 years. Quit, had withdrawals then went back to dr and tapered off easy. Then went on xanex over 10 years later when the same back pain happened so i knew what i was getting into. Just now I'm withdrawing using vallium and mirtaazapene. Unfortunately the mirtaazapene is knocking me out so I'm not excersising and the back pain is sneaking back in. I'm nearly through but i worry about a relapse in case that pain comes back. Yes, I have CPTSD and currently weaning off 20 years of Alprazolam. Taking the very slow path of reducing the dose in .25mg at a time. I see my psychiatrist weekly and he’s very supportive in helping me get off this medication. I started meditating and tbh, I will likely always have to find non-medication ways to cope with my anxiety and trauma. Talk therapy, group therapy online, talking with friends helps a lot. I find that going out dancing helps the most to reduce my anxiety, as well as helping me be more tired at bedtime. Still dealing with insomnia and the effects of CPTSD. Praying for you and best of luck on your journey. 🙏🏽🫶🏽

I have so much guilt bc I knew Xanax was addictive and had taken it for 2-4weeks at a time and got off. Would be a rough couple days and I would bounce back. Diagnosed w life threatening sleep apnea and began daily dose 2mg to get used to CPAP mask. Then I could not get off of it and went thru 4 surgeries since which kept me on.
