probably not. Doc Louis during his prime is probably way too OP and can 1-hit KO any enemy with only 5% of his power. It's best to play as Little mac so your opponents are actually challenging lol.

He didn't let his rage keep him from being a good teacher, and that's what makes Doc great.

Doc Louis is mac's Mickey. He taught Mac how to fight. Plus he is just an awesome coach. Letting Mac using him as his sparring partner and not holding back. Just goes to show you he's not just chocolate loving guy he loves training Mac. He even shows that he's proud of Mac after the "Mac's last stand" as he has an entire room dedicated to his little champ :)
