We have a huge number of MiG-23s which are out of service and some MiG-21s which we use only for standard patrols in the Eastern and Northern parts of Bulgaria. By 2015 it is expected to have all 24 mig-29s operational. And we consider upgrading them to version OVT, but it is only a speculation for now.
Why are people pointing out how old the Cyrillic alphabet is? That has nothing to do with the fact that the video has an English title but isn't in English.

I don't know if the second pilot is bulgarian but if you look carefully at @2:07 on your left you will see part of the sign on his uniform! It's the sign of "First Air Base Ravnetz" and it is in Bulgaria.
@Talshet The F-15 is a great dog fighter because it was designed to be maneuverable and with the added AWACS, and Air to Air Radar in the F-15 not much has a chance facing it at range now all we need to do is make it stealthy >:D
@mittshiett The pilot didn't connected his oxygen mask "pipe" (the little thing on the right) with the helmet "airbag pipe". In the back of the helmet there is an "airbag" that is pushing the pilots head against the mask. So the mask is not going down in hi-G turns. Sorry my bad english.... I hope you can understand what I want to say ;) ----- Great video!
A contract with Russia about the MiG-29s, but I don't know the current status of the contract. All parts and everything are being bought from Russia and Israel (which to my surprise have some knowledge of MiGs don't ask how, I don't know). We have one repairs plant left, and 2 other are due to be opened but don't know when.

@darthpy I would prefer the MiG 29, because Su-27 was build first after the MiG and the Sukoi - guys copied the Mikoyan Guverici-guys => the MiG-29 is better(my opinion)....

OVT is far of our scope and yes we have a total of 16 operational 29s, but afaik there are no plans for any additional, or modernization of the currently flying. Това което знам за тях е, че са доста по богати от България, но и това слабо ме интересува, аз изкарвам много повече от 90% от мизерниците които живеят тук, без да си давам зор и не мисля да емигрирам в страна, където ще ме карат да работя. Паднах доста ниско като ти отговорих цели два пъти, повече не мисля да ти обръщам внимание. the 9 MiG 29s were destroyed in Kosovo War ( 4 of them on the ground and 1 by friendly fire ) and yet the Serbs shot down: Two AH-64 Apaches, 1 F-117 shot down, 1 F-16, 2 A-10 Thunderbolts shot down, lets not forget that the Serbs have poor air deffence and never expected that NATO will attack them.
The F117 and F16 were shot down by S125 old sams commanded by Mr.Dani and not by serbian fighter planes anyway. The Mig 29 is equivalent of an F100 Super Sabre or very early version of F4 Phantom. No match in close combat against the F4D Phantom or even the MiG 31.
The most of our planes are russian...Maybe only the L39,PC9M,Spartan and L410 are not russian.I can't remember for others.Also we have the AS532AL Cougar chopper and Bell 206.
No m8 they are both MiG 29's. And one of the pilots is Rumen Radev (Bulgarian President) and the other(with the red star) is Viktor "Vik" I don' his surname tho..

Yeah we are from Bulgaria, we fly MiG-29, they are old but still are beter then any american plane made soo far. Do you know to what we rate your F-16 here in Bulgaria ? -A rusty MiG-21, some say we going to change MiG-21 for F-16.... i hope we dont do it since its junk for a junk... pointless.
