  • Welcome to the Plant Yard
We start the week with a job into Manchester city centre and then on to leafy Altrincham, later we collect a twenty tonne CASE CX210
Tuesday starts with a CAT D6 Bull Dozer and then a back street collection of a LiuGong 9027 2 tonne mini excavator
Then it’s a couple of 13 tonne excavators one of which needs digging out
Midweek we move some small plant to a Primary School near Clitheroe and collect a Screener that has been on long term hire, later, with Operator Pavel’s help, we collect a McCloskey J40 crusher from a tricky back street job in city centre Preston
Thursday, we have a busy morning moving a Moxy, a twenty tonner and another pair of 13 tonners in the afternoon we’re busy in the yard
On Friday we’re on an urgent job to Wales in the CRH pick up truck and in the afternoon we’re off to Burnley for a 9 tonne dumper
We’ve also got a bit of Saturday overtime moving Senior Foreman/ Operator Dave’s Volvo EC380 and collecting a considerably less well looked after Hitachi ZX210 and then we’re ready for Monday
Thank you for your interest in my channel, I hope you enjoy the film

Super video again this week. Great variety of loads and locations visited during your working week.
Your videos are getting better and more interesting every week, and your choice of soundtrack music to go along with the video is excellent.
Keep up the fantastic job of entertaining and informing your followers about your working life on here, Alex. You're a top man on here.

Hi,good afternoon how hard is it to get into heavy haulage once you have had a few years driving general haulage,my grandson is interested in is type of work, thank you for always being upfront and informative also you're narration is always clear no mumbles regards🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🎥⭐

      Thank you
Firstly, although my job includes heavy haulage we’re a Plant Hire company that delivers our equipment, large or small to our customers or contractors
We tend to recruit our Low-Loader drivers from within the company because it’s easier for people who are comfortable around plant and building sites to manage a job like ours, it can be pretty tricky at times and you’re really on your own
I’d advise your Grandson to decide what field he’d like to do, investigate who’s the best company doing it and go and introduce himself, anyone worthwhile will be interested, even if they might not have a job available right at that time
Aptitude can be as valuable as experience, I wish him well 🤙

    Nice one, another busy week.
What's the idea around the different chaining down? New rules?

Thank you, it occurred to me that some of our larger machines (35 tonne & above) might need extra restraint to the rear, so I thought I would see how it would work 🤟

Hi Mate love all the stuff you do, just a question if you had a 40 ton load that could be lashed down at all 4 corners how do you work out what size chains & binders to use? Or could you use 4x 10 ton binders does it work like that?

    • @Stillgotallmyfingers
      @Stillgotallmyfingers  Місяць тому +1

      Hi Daz
Any mobile plant has to be restrained by a minimum of four direct, tensioned lashings, the lashings must be able to restrain 50% of the weight of the load falling to the rear and sides and 100% of the load from moving forward
There is a mistaken belief that the step in a step frame trailer (like mine) contributes to the load security percentage, it doesn’t
So yes one on each corner, I use smaller lighter chains & binders for smaller machines, they have a restraining quality of 8 tonnes individually, for big machines I have bigger chains and binders that are rated to 16 tonnes individually
Simply put, I put the big chains on the big diggers and the small chains on the smaller ones
      I hope this helps 🤟

      Hello Colin,
I’ve been pleasantly surprised by the LiuGong’s some of our most experienced operators have been quite pleased by them
I think the mini diggers are fantastic, I like the 9 tonner but I wish it was a proper zero swing, I think they’re good workmanlike machines
They’re not Volvos or Hitachi’s but some of the kit they make is hugely impressive, I was sceptical about them at first and Hitachi will always be my favourite but I can see why we’re involved with LiuGong
I think we’ll see plenty more of them in the future
I’m glad you enjoy my films, thank you for getting in touch 🤟
