Krist just chilling in the corner
haha he sure is :)
@@theguitarmanifesto Hi! Could you please tell me which one of these two is more suitable for hard rock / punk / metal? The Jaguar (Alnico 3) or the Jazzmaster (Alnico 2) Player Series? Thanks a lot!
Francisco Javier Aprea the player jazzmaster probably because it has 2 humbucker. But you could use either as long as you have an overdrive or distortion pedal
Wow I didn’t expect to hear Sappy by Nivana!
Gotta get some nirvana in there with a Jag
Best review of Jag I've seen
Ah awesome 🎸🤘
I have the sunburst version. Great guitar with loads of tones. 15 mins to sort out the fret ends and oil the board, another 30 minutes to swap the bridge for a Staytrem one and to change the tuners to my favourite split-post vintage style ones and it's the most fun guitar I've had in 45+ years of playing. Love it.
This is probably my favorite demo I’ve seen you do.
Some classic riffs there dude 😎🎸
I noticed. Loved the ventures then Nirvana. Not a fan of U2 but you played the early stuff so not bad.
James_ 42_Art the last one was the cure she sells sanctuary
James_ 42_Art walk don't run did sound good through the jag
Rob The Meat Manifesto ahh right. Similar sound to old U2. I’m not a fan of the Cure either but I have absolutely zero hate for them. The only classic goth I like is like Joy Division. They’re like the originators in my opinion.
Great rundown - you're a gentleman and a scholar.
Thank you very much 😊
WOW this sounds AMAZING!!!!! Sounds like the best guitar I’ve watched in a demo (out of all channels)
Ah dude it does sound killer 😎🎸😮🇬🇧
I wish I could afford it!!! Looks stunning too in that colour! 😎🎸🎸🔥🔥
Owain Kirkman I'm sure you will one day dude
Owain Kirkman )
Looks good and sounds good but I think the difference in higher priced v's lower priced guitars is becoming more and more blurred. Some of the Squiers and other guitars are cheaper and sound just as good. Just my two cents.
Yep I agree this feels more Squier like to me than a Mexican Fender quite disappointed
For sure. I got a Mascis Jazzmaster a few years ago and it still plays like a charm
A Jag shaped Strat? I think it is weird that it has less Jag options than the Squier CV. It is like Fender is either pushing you down to Squier or up to the VIntera range.
Dig the way Jaguars sound. I've never owned one. Now I really want one!
Definitely worth getting one for sure 😎🎸
Im getting one of these for sure. Played one at the music store last week not plugged in. Im a Tele guy but I NEED one of these after just playing a few chords feels great in the hands and fingers.
Ah awesome, they're great guitars I love jaguars 🎸👌
Nice guitar rob love this youtube Channel
Thank you very much dude :)
Digging the She Sells Sanctuary - haven't heard that tune in a hot minute!
I sold mine, honestly I regret it because that guitar played great and had a comfortable feel, and the tuners worked great. I’d just gotten an MIJ Jag and MIJ Mustang so I figured I’d drop one.
the colour and the sound are very good, im thinking about that guitar
I like the hum bucker option, and the fact you can split the coil and go for a more traditional Jaguar feel. I also like doing away with some of that redundant Jaguar switching, and making it more straight - forward, like the Cobain, Marr, and American Player series Jags. Aesthetically I wish they had kept the chrome switch covers, so I had the top one added - you just have to precision cut the pick guard and an American pro top switch cover fits. It looks more traditional but also one of a kind because you don't have the bottom cover.
The humbucker split coil feature is very cool makes it easy more versatile, I agree it does miss the chrome plates for sure
Hay you can also buy the other plate.I had them both put on mine.
Greta guitar ! thanks Rob, like always your reviews are great and show the product in a good way for us to see it! think the price is excellent for all you get in this guitar!!
Thanks dude I try to keep the videos bs free and to the point, yeah they are great guitars especially for the price
Just got this guitar for Christmas
Ooh nice great Guitar 🎸🎅👌🎄
father Xmas is a !@#$ ! ,,,,he never brought me one .
@@TheMichaelseymour 😂😂
Might be a dumb question, but why does the Jazzmaster have two humbuckers and the Jag one? Played a Jazzmaster Player series and loved it from the get go, want to try this Jag at some point.
Will Power god knows dude 😎🎸
This looks pretty cool. I’m not in the market for a guitar currently, and probably won’t be for a while. I do think this looks better than some squiers I see. The coil tap is a welcome addition.
Looks and feel it's closer to a Squier than a Mexican Fender does sound great though
That guitar weighs 600 pounds?
Dude you are fucking strong as hell
These are quite light for Jaguars 😂
Looks like a pretty versatile guitar - nice colour too.
Yes can get plenty of sounds out of it
There's something about a Jaguar that always takes to the 90's grunge scene. Awesome guitars.
Do you still own this? I'd love one, I have the player Jazzmaster (J Mascis made me do it haha) and I think it's awesome. Have always wanted a Jag after seeing Kurt use one back in my youth.
what do you think is better?
jag or jazz?
I dig the guitar, I like there newer strat pick ups for the series aswel. ive heard some that sound rad and some that just sound so out of wack. I like this jag a lot... I do need to get one. the whole series I think is a bit of an upgrade to the regular mexico line. cool to see you buying a lot of fender
The pickups definitely sound awesome though I miss the classic Jag switching, interesting new series will check more out
What amp are you running?????
Loved your video and input on the Jag
I was using Garageband, thanks dude its a killer sounding guitar but if I'm honest I prefer the original Jag style with all the switching
Love me some Cult...nice work!
Thanks dude 😎🎸🇬🇧☑️
Nice playing. I just picked up an American Performer Mustang. I am loving it.
Thank you, ah awesome that's a great guitar enjoy 😎🎸
I just bought the blue one of these. It’s not bad. More of a back up on stage. I’ve got it tuned to open G. We do a bit of Black Crowes. Should do the job. You think the sonic sounds better??
This sounds killer. How do you think this compares to a squier j mascis jazzmaster?
Completely different guitars in lots of ways, scale, pickups etc. The J Mascis Jazzmaster would be my guitar of choice out the two.
I just got one in 3-tone sunburst. Only thing that bothers me is bridge. The screws are overlong so it is impossible to get right intonation.
Nice one Rob! Sounds good, I’d like one in black 😎
It does sound awesome, would be nice in black
I've been checking out this player series for some time but still not sure if should pull the trigger on them (jazzmaster). Awesome video and a sick guitar.
P.s. love the new man-cave :)
Lovro Knezevic if I'm honest I'm a little disappointed with the range, they feel on par with a squier. Also I like Jazzmaster with single coils not humbuckers. Thanks dude 😎🎸🇬🇧
Hi would you recommend this or player strat hss for alterne-grunge-hard rock :)
I was wondering the same thing 🤣.
I think you have sold me on buying this guitar just by playing Sappy!
😂😂 it is a tune 🎸👌
I thought I heard that...
Does the sonic red have a hint of orange? It looks that way from the video.
Must be your devices screen dude it is like a pure red similar to Dakota Red
Awesome thank you
No problem!
What about your opinion between the player series Jag vs. the Jazzmaster? Which do you prefer? Thanks
Spoiler alert, I have a special video coming soon
Very nice guitar dude!! Video is as nice as expected! The guitar looks kinda like a Squier. I don't know why, but I think it looks cheap. But it sounds good!
thanks dude, I agree it's sounds really good but has a squier vibe
@@theguitarmanifesto I have exact one and use it at my gigs. love it
hey Rob, your toughts on jaguar Kurt cobain version vs this player series?
The Fender Player series to me feels like a high end Squier the Cobain Jag feels like a high end Fender.
+Rob The Meat Manifesto thanks for the reply. but Nirvana sound wise?
Well you'll get Nirvana tones out of both as long as you have the right effects too
I know i have the Squier Affinity , not quite a "jazzmaster" but the body shape i just love ...and i quite like the Strat scale neck , ultra skinny , its a joy to play :)
Yeah the shape sits nice is the lap whilst sitting what it was actually designed for
Squier jagmaster and this guitar, which is better?
Is there any difference pickup wise between this model and the jazzmaster player model, other than the single coil in the neck?
Not really pretty much the same
Tone would be darker thanks to the shorter scale
Is there any difference pickups wise with the jazzmaster player model other than the single coil in the neck?
facundo zupel neck scale length and jazz circuit in jaguar player series
Why are they replacing the Standards? is it temporary?
LtWölfe no permanent, to stop any confusion when people ask what the difference is between a Mexican and American Fender
Daym whats that first riff you were playing in this??
Reece Stoker Walk Don’t Run by the Ventures
Hey man how do you compare this color against the fiesta red HH VM squier?
I prefer the sonic red it's a little bit of a deeper shade
Is there an American made series of Jaguars? Thanks man!
Yes
@@theguitarmanifesto Hell yea, thanks!
American Pro I believe
@@theguitarmanifesto Thank you...just ordered one!
Hey Rob, is this guitar much heavier than a mustang? Now you got me thinking this guitar might be a good addition to my guitar setup haha
Only a little bit heavier but barely noticeable, it is a great guitar and sound killer 😎🎸🇬🇧
What is the first song played?
How dark looks pau ferro with lemon oil?
Makes a small difference but not a lot
What you think? Fender jaguar player series or Squier jaguar Classic vide 70’s?
Personally I prefer the old school setup on the classic vibe with switching etc and sounds like a jaguar should.
Build quality both on a par
The narrow frets on the CVs put me off.
What’s the quality like compared to the black top or a vintera jaguar
To be honest the pau Ferro on the modern Mexican models are a real turn off for me, personally I would go for older Mexican models
The Guitar Manifesto an old Fender Standard Jazz Master better then does the feel of the fretboard don’t feel as good as rosewood then??
Yeah PF feels really cheap and nasty
Would you say this is basically a deep orange?
It's like a Ferrari red
Would you choose this or a duo sonic hs? I've played this duo sonic several times and really like it. However both that I played had issues with the pickup selector. I haven't played the jaguar yet and never have played a jag but I LOVE the blue colour and am really torn between the two. What would you go for? Quite a price difference but I just love both and can't decide. I can't afford both as I'm just a teen but oh well. I'm in an indie rock band and also play blues, rock, alternative and punk at home. Thanks in advance :)
If I'm honest I'm not impressed with the jag sounds pretty decent but to me its too far away from being a classic Jaguar with the switching etc.
I'd go with the Duo Sonic HS they are killer
@@theguitarmanifesto my thoughts exactly! Thanks for the response man!!
Check out the videos I did on the Duo Sonic HS
Downside to that would be that the Duo Sonic is a girl's guitar. Come on man..
Just wow 😂😂
Cant make my mind up between the jaguar or the jazzmaster both sound good which would you get.
Jazzmaster all the way for me I prefer the longer scale and the sound is 👌
Thank you love your channel
I also have another question for I have a fender powercaster which i love and it is a 24.75 scale and before that I play a Squire stratocaster which was a 24 scale will it be hard for me to go to a 25.50 scale
It's not a big difference you'll be fine, glad you love the channel :)
Short scale ?
Yes 24" scale dude
Have you tried playing the Fender 60s Jaguar Lacquer? I’m looking to get a Jag, and there’s a clear difference in price between the Player Series and the 60s Lacquer. I’m not TOO concerned with price, but if the difference in quality is minimal then I’ll vie for the Player. I do prefer the look of the 60s Lacquer to be honest, but I’m not sure if that alone is worth an extra $400. I will probably also be able to afford a $400ish dollar Mustang if I buy this guitar. I’m mostly interested in a good Jaguar though. So, what’s your opinion on both? If you had to pick one to play alternative rock/grunge music, which would it be?
Personally I would have a look at the Fender Classic Player Jaguar killer guitar and has coil blending
Rob The Meat Manifesto
Thanks bro, I’ll check it out
Rob The Meat Manifesto
I think I’ll get that one! Thanks for your input
Ah awesome I've made a couple of review videos on the classic player Jag check them out 🎸😎
Rob The Meat Manifesto
Will do! It’s hard to find a guitar reviewer that actually uses distortion and plays faster rock, haha.
Is it still a rather heavy guitar, in terms of weight?
This one wasn't heavy
Which gauge strings do you use on Jaguars? 10's? 11's?
I like to use 10-46s
I also use 10s, but if you go down to Eb or drop D you may get on better with 11s.
What about vibrato? Does it stay in tune? Thank you.
I've never had a problem with vibratos on Jaguar as long as you not dive bombing they hold up pretty well
Yes, it does.
Does it have enough sustain for blues?
Plenty
So I have a question.
I'm starting out playing again and I've been considering getting a Kurt Cobain Fender Jaguar because of the better pickups, but considering how expensive it is I've been thinking of getting a Squier jaguar but can't find a happy medium.
What would you recommend?
Forgive my appalling punctuation, my iPhone is a piece of shit.
Stabzcell97812 hmm it's a tough one, you could get a Squier Vintage Jag HH but they are discontinued so only available used, or a squier vintage Modified Jaguar but then you will have to route the body to fit humbuckers
Rob The Meat Manifesto
That's great man thanks, I'll see what I can find.
Unfortunately the area I live our local guitar shop closed down.
Really gutted, I'll have to see what I can find online.
Rob The Meat Manifesto
Managed to find a hh with barely visible buckle rash and got the price down to £220.
Can't wait; sound seems amazing!
Ah nice find dude hope you like it they sound awesome 😎🎸
The Jag-Stang is awesome! The neck is perfect for power chords too
What is the name of the first Riff?
Walk don't run
The Guitar Manifesto
Thanks!
that color combo brahhhhhhhhhh
Yes you know it
Songs you used?
Clean Walk don't run The Ventures
Distortion Sappy Nirvana
Lead she sells sanctuary the cult
fender should give you money for this kind of video haha thx you for playing nirvana..a lot of player use this as ref for exemple.
i'll buy the black one for the end of the year...if santa is ok with that :)
do you know if we can just replace the bridge with tune o matic ?
Math91650 tune o matic wont fit
I feel strangley frustrated that the 'jaguar' decal is so small you can hardly see it. Beautiful guitar other than that and a great guitar for the money.
Hi Rob, playing some The Cult 👍. Nice demo.
Rob van Dijk thanks dude 😎🎸
I do like it. Doesn't really have anything apart from the occasional sharp frets, though it does seem like it's treading rather close with Squier QC on that point. I'll be sure to go see one for myself soon, if I can find them in guitar shops around here. ☺
Yes it feels more like a squier rather than a Mexican Fender IMO
Rob, Really? I mean I really love the Squiers recently, as they get higher in quality and affordability, but you'd think that it's kind of a disappointment if you can't feel the difference between the Fender and a Squier guitar, if you're the one with the more expensive one.
The mexican classic player Fender Jag I had felt every part a fender but the sharps frets and just general feel is more like a vintage Modified. I think Fender may have rushed these out
Never the less, thanks for the demo Rob. You do really help out guitarists looking for new gear, without spending an absolute fortune, with these honest demos. Keep at it man. 🤘🏼🎸
Thanks dude we need to share the knowledge 😎🇬🇧🎸
Thank god someone who gives a fuck about the ppl actually buying this damn thing. Great work.
Oh yes 🎸🤘🇬🇧
Ah the hi gloss neck , i think i've commented on the Epiphone SG , they always feel a bit "sticky"
Yeah I prefer like a matt finish
Plus a painted neck...well it can hide a multitude of imperfections
Yes you know they are using the dog ends of wood
I’m rocking the same t-shirt, so it was almost seeing me holding this guitar 😂 Came to try it yesterday but the shipowner wasn’t able it find it after an hour of searching 😢 Guess this jag kitty is hiding from me
Great minds think alike.
Superb guitar.
She is a beaut 👌🎸
Would look sick with a normal jag pickguard
For me a Jag needs the switching
Definitely spilt the humbucker off and on from split to full body, regularly use both. Split the humbucker. There's your single. Simple. Tape the switch for the humbucker. Doesn't need to move 🤣
Duct tape works wonders 😂😂
Definitely need to ductape a few things normally if the way you play moves the switches.. what I love about this jaguar is that you dont have to worry about accidentally hitting too many buttons, it's simple yet uniquely modified, its definitely suited up for me.. the coil split slider is perfectly aligned side to side so you wont have to ductape it.. (wouldnt want to)- easy to use. If you're accidentally hitting the pick up selector with your playstyle, thatd be a simple fix. Ductape.
I want one in blue but I'm poor
Blue is definitely the best colour dude :)
Offset goodness! 👍
Damn straight 😎🎸☑️
4:30 Sappy from Nirvana 😀
Fuck yeah
4:26 "a BIT of distorsion"
You're learning 😂
i still prefer the look of the Squier Rob...which i will get as soon as i've got the cash :)
Yep me too, I prefer the old style switching
How ironic that the Squiers look more olde skool
Drew Shelly a case of fender trying to get 'down with the kids' fail for me especially when they keep releasing HH Jazzmasters
Would u prefer Classic Player Series or Player Series?
I much prefer the classic player
@@theguitarmanifesto cant agree more. Classic Player is way more nasty :D
It is definitely a good guitar! You just have to replace the humbucker and you can rock on it!
Why , what’s wrong with the humbucker that’s in it ?
Absolutely nothing
imagine buying a laptop and the hinges didn't fully close, so you hadto replace them if you wanted the thing to close fully. Or that you had go into the motherboard and solder out parts just so it wouldn't overheat after an hour. This is Fender.
Ok🤣
@@theguitarmanifesto perhaps there's a symptom of sort of fanboyism going on? trendiness is another word that comes to mind.
@@elephantcemeteryI'm definitely NOT a fanboy 🤣
Sappy!
Yeah dude 😎🎸
Ah is this "Classical Gas" ? sure it is , the intro ?
Lost me dude?
Drew Shelly ah ok did it sound like what I was playing ?
Just been listening to it on UA-cam , Mason Williams , its an instrumental track from 1968...and it really does sound like it...A LOT
Awesome 😮🎸😎
I was playing walk, don't run
I have this guitar in Blue. It is absolute rubbish. Stay away if you are considering it.
It does not stay in tune to save its live (after a pro setup and Shim, loctite on saddles) and the pickups sound bad.
I bet the 'pro' didn't fully stretch the string 😜
