- As I work to reset my arsenal, I wanted to shoot another arsenal eliminator featuring my current 4 Hammer balls against 4 of my top Motiv balls. Let's see who comes out on top.
... wow, this looks like fun! I might do this with my 5 balls, and have my wife draw from a hat which ball I throw lol. I have, in my arsenal...
15 lbs. RAW Hammer Hybrid (Orange/Blue), Black Widow Ghost Pearl, and Black Widow 3.0.
10 lbs. Storm Tropical Surge (Purple/Gold), 9 lbs. Brunswick TWIST (Blue/Green)
The last two are my wife's, but this looks like a very fun format to just play around with. I might replace the Ghost Pearl with the Effect, or even pair them up in a 4 ball arsenal.
I've been using the Jackal Flash from Motiv since 2020 and it's awesome. After 4 years and many leagues, the performance is starting to dwindle and show its age. I had a BW Nasty before and loved that ball so I decided to go with the 3.0, Effect, and Black Pearl Urethane to round out the Arsenal
I challenge anybody to say good things about the NU BLUE. Such a terrible ball. Everything else Hammer is good, but this ball is horrible.
On a short patten where I need more than the black, I actually like it for that, but that is the only time I use it. It's a specialty ball for me for sure. It did help me cash at the McPherson PBA regional on a short pattern. I used it the first couple of games.
Only on short patterns. I agree with you on anything over 38 feet.
That Hammer arsenal is pretty much what i bag, Widow 2, Effect, Envy tour, and Black Pearl
Black widow 3.0 is just super smooth, still figuring out my obsession tour v2. since i just bought it but overall satisfied
This does not seem very scientific at all. I am not sure what anyone can take from it, but nonetheless, it looks like fun.
Yeah, not meant to be scientific. More about the fun and me comparing a number of balls on that pattern. Appreciate the watch.
I've tried 2 Venoms and a Jackal. Motiv just seems unpredictable and too weak for me. Lot of light or 3 pin hits with them. But hey, they work for some people!
Yeah, the motion is different. I used to throw SPI, and they were great out of box, but didn't last. Motiv is very smooth, and last, but not the best motion. I have been throwing more B7 and so far, I am digging them. I threw a lot of c300 in the 90s, and loved them back then.
Is your 3.0 polished or just lane shine?
That's just lane shine. I am surprised at how much it still hooks with that much lane shine on it. Probably gonna have to knock some shine off at the next regional, but we will see.
Cool vid Keith. I was heartbroken when the NU Blue went out first. I love mine so much. It's a house shot killer on the left side. Cool that the Effect was the winner but after the NU Blue went out I'm not going to lie I was rooting for the 3.0. Looking forward to what's next. PS - N. B. C. (new ball carry)
Let me see...new bowling balls beat old bowling balls. Anyone else as shocked as I am?
If you watch my 10 ball eliminator, 5 old (1996-2008) and 5 "newer" balls, my ball from 1999 with well over 1,000 games won. So new doesn't always equal better. These new balls are pretty amazing, though.
@@baldbrothersbowling OK, good point. I think that I've seen too many reviews of Hammer balls lately.
There are a ton of them, that's for sure. I try not to jump on the Hype of every new ball, but I am impressed with the 3.0 and Effect. We will see how the next purchases go. Thanks for watching.
I hate my blue coral. The ball likes to roll out on me regularly....
Hmmm. Don't tell JR Raymond but maybe it's the layout? LOL. Is it polished? Mine is polished and I love it like that.
@@baldbrothersbowling box is 5000? I took it to 2k and in some instances it seems better? Should I try polishing it?
I think box is 4000 which is shiny, but I don't think it is polished. I bought mine used from a friend who always knocks the factory polish off and then puts his own on. I just know mine was shinier than most I have seen others use. If it's rolling out, try polish. If that doesn't work, maybe just not a match for you. I know some people who like the Revolt Uprising and I did not like that one at all I even tried plugging and changing layout which helped a little, and I tried several surfaces, but still didn't match up for me.
I had a hard time deciding between the envy and blue coral
I also considered the Envy Tour, but I need a couple hybrids. I love the Coral, but looking for a replacement (it's got a lot of games on it). I was gonna try the Theorem and Archetype Hybrid next to see where they fit around that Coral.
@@baldbrothersbowling I have my Envy drilled in a Traction layout its been working well on long short heavy and light patterns. It reads early, takes a slight turn then rolls, like a dump truck down a steep icy road
@@johndor1904 I love that description. That is what my older Jackal Rising is. Now, my NU Blue and Black Urethane fit the bill, especially since I adjusted my release and increased the rev rate. I honestly thought of the Envy Tour as the Rising replacement, but since these other 2 work, it has fallen down in the priority list. I still want one, it would just now be a gap filler.
@@baldbrothersbowling I went with the Envy because it's a Hammer ball. I came back to bowling after taking the last 20 years off. I had always had random balls in my bag, so this time i decided to just try stickinhg with one brand and i hadnt owned any hammers previously also the Black Widow just hit the market when i stopped, and the 2.0 had recently came to the market when i decided to come back to bowling sooooo. But that blue coral is a pretty tempting ball, a few in my league throw the venom line they do pretty good
