You just saved my 61 year marriage!!! LOL! My husband took the handvac apart and could not get it back together again. I went on youtube, looked up the B&D Handvac and VOILÁ there you were explaining everything clearly, distinctly and easily. My handvac is now back together and working...and so is my marriage! I think I'll keep both the vac and the husband around for at least another 61 years!!! THANK YOU! I did give you a thumbs up! Everyone should do that...I mean give you a thumbs up! LOL
I have one of those ive had it for years. The plastic finally broke on the dust bowl where the nozzle connects. I just taped it togther and went on for another year. Now it wont charge. There is no indicator light when its on its charger. I figure the battery finally went. Definitely got my money worth from this.
Similar experience here but no broken parts. After about 2 years mine just died and without user-replaceable batteries it's a waste of good money. Opening up the clam-shell plastic case is a nightmare. Darn shame that a good machine is too soon rendered worthless because of inevitable battery failure.
Great tutorial! We just got a B&D Lithium battery Dustbuster and with 5 cats, I am using it ALL the time - especially around the dry cat food dishes on the kitchen floor. I'm amazed at how powerful it is!
I got one for Christmas 🎄 you know your a mom when a 🎁 like this gets you pumped up 😂😂😂 perfect for around the house especially with 2 dogs and a 5 year old 😂😂✌🙊 I got excited to clean 😆😜🥰 life saver 🙌
Great tutorial. I have had this for a few years. It works great. But I have not known what the filter button was for LOL. Just took the filter out and washed it. Many thanks.
The thing with the battery. I bought a different model a year and half ago and that battery is already shot. Very displeased about that. You may have illuminated the problem for me. THANKS MAN! You get a THUMBS UP.
Thank you for a good review here. I like the way you really pointed out the merits of this 16V unit. It was hard to make up the mind on selecting which one to buy. I checked Walmart here they only carry the 3.6V, 7.2V and best is 10.8V units just no 16V on display. However, I compared the suction power the 10.8V is so much higher than the 7.2V, so I would assume the 16V (actually is 14.4 or 4 cells each of 3.6V) is the way to go as it will last for several years well worth the extra cost spreading out the cost is really nothing much but the joy to get the work done faster and cleaner counts. Thanks again, your video gave me confidence to go ahead. I just tested my new 16V from Amazon, being an electronics engineer, PERFECT design is my comment.
I bought this vacuum cleaner but it only sucks very weakly. I am very dissatisfied. Once a piece gets a little heavier, it doesn't absorb it. What can you do there?
You actually can wall mount this unit. The wall hanger is already built into the unit as a left over from a previous gen of Dustbuster. That's the small flange you see on the back side of the base, just above the dust bowl. You will need to buy the wall bracket from B&D (or elsewhere) for somewhere around $5 - $10. Once you wall mount the unit, simply place the charger base on top of the now upside down unit and the Dustbuster will charge. You may need a bit of weight on top of the charger base to make good contact with the charging "pins" but not much. I have this setup in my garage where a wall mount is the only way I could set the Dustbuster up. Good luck!
Like some comments from other mine worked great for about 9 months and then it would shut off after one minute of use. It is fully charged. If I turn it back on a few seconds later it will only run for a few seconds then shut off. This is my second B+D to do this. Is there a fix?
I've now watched 3 videos on this, and one crucial test is never done. The unit should be shown as fully charged, then a time lapse of continuous run-time should be shown to see how long the charge lasts. Should be at least 13 minutes. Some users complain about way shorter run times.
Mine worked like video right out of the box. However within week have charging issues and suction isn’t sufficient for dog hair on furniture. Returning and getting more powerful device.
Do you still have this dust buster? An update would be nice. You can't really tell much about a product when you just received it. How is it doing now?
I have a Black & Decker pivot vac 18 V with nickel cadmium batteries (ni-cad). The vacuum worked great. But don’t get ni-cad Batteries! You’ll have to alternatively fully discharge and fully recharge as ni-cads have a “memory”. Get lithium ion Batteries instead.
I just bought one today and I'm charging it now. Mine did not come with the plastic pre filter, only the fabric filter bag installed. I wonder if they just don't add it anymore.
How long did you charge it before using? Mine only ran for a few seconds and would turn off. Hoping to be able to use it tomorrow for a clean but need it to run well. Lol
My fully charged unit keeps shuting down every minute. Have to turn it off and on again to get it to work for a minute. Is it the battery or is the motor overheating? I read somewhere the unit will shut down if the motor starts to overheat.
Hi Peter Von, I have an BLACK+DECKER CHV1410L TYPE 2 14.4v DC == 21.6wh. Might you please point me to the right battery to purchase. I remove the battery (LGDAHB71865 R103D133A2) from the vaccum but not able to a match for it. . Thank you.

So far so good with this vacuum. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkx8ISPQRRAfpAaX4msGjyodObTBnlj4T5g I was a little concerned to find it seems to be all plastic, but the reviews were good, so I'm hoping for the best. Very easy to assemble Recommened, and only attachments I've used so far work well, and are easy to use. Doing a good job on the new carpet in my bedrooms and stairs. Works well on the hardwood on my main floor too. Reasonable weight and cord length. I already knew from an earlier review that it wouldn't fit under furniture, but I can use my Eufy for that, so no problem - the high traffic areas that need a stronger suction was really what I bought this for. If it continues as it's started, it will be a good buy and well worth the money. I have had two Shark Rocket stick vacs in the past that are super easy to use, but the motors just don't last well, even with scrupulous cleaning of the filters. I'm hoping for better with this Bissell.
Does anyone else's make a very loud aggressive grinding noise as the motor is slowing down once it is turned off? Only had mine maybe two weeks. Light use.
I have the 14.4 volt Lithium model and it started making a terrible racket after my wife emptied debris and forgot to put filter back on. It was very noisy. I took it apart best I could and cleaned hair and lint off the motor spindle, but still very noisy, so I inspected the impeller and found one of it's intakes was plugged and I removed the debris with tweezers. That was causing the imbalance on the motor making the awful sound. Now it's working great again.
I bought mine at Goodwill. I really like it (especially the $6 price). However, it hurts my ears because of the high pitched squeal. I notice that the OP has the same squeal. After about 3 minutes, my ears hurt. So I wear earplugs and a noise dampering Bose headset, with a hat to hold it all on when I vacuum. They really should be able to make it quieter, it's absolutely horrible. I would not let my kids use it, it will damage their hearing. I thought there was something wrong with mine - since it was used. But I see that it is the way it comes, new out of the box. What a bummer.
This model is not bad for the money and it has a 2 year warranty. I got 22 months out of mine before it burned up the brushes and armature. B&D promptly replaced it so now I am on the second one. Hopefully it will last a little longer than the first one,....both made in China. I have a much older 7.2 volt dustbuster that is made in USA that has never had the battery replaced and still runs fine after 10 years. MADE IN USA RULES OVER CHINESE JUNK!!!!!!!

This is a piece of crap. Mine won't attach, I've tried latching it on, twisting it on, nothing works. It doesn't appear to be broken, it just doesn't attach. It's easy to pick up stuff from a hard floor, but when you really test it on places like the car floorboard, it doesn't really work. So will be sending it back.

It should have the plastic prefilter, the paper filter will get real bad, real fast. Call B&D and tell them and they'll send you one, I'm sure.
