- This evening we were invited to the launch of the brand new Samsung High Temperature, Ultra Quiet Air Source Heat Pump.
We gathered some information and give our take on the concept of this new product due for release at the end of October 2022
Models AE080BXYDEG AE120BXYDEG AE140BXYDEG AE080BXYDGG AE120BXYDGG AE140BXYDGG
The 8kW model in this range is 0.685m3 meaning that they're all going to need planning permission before installation
Is there any reason why this (or any HT heat pump) couldn't be installed to directly replace the boiler on a y-plan system? It seems to me that it just needs a few feet of copper pipe to get from where the boiler is to the new HP and that would be about all that's needed. And for that price the BUS would cover the cost 100%. I really like the way it would match the black basalt of my new gravel drive too!
Hi, so how this unit stands in real world year after when specs are out now? I'm debating to buy it and looks very good on paper but I haven't find many reviews of this unit so I don't know how it is in terms of durability and performance. Also LG is planning to release new Therma V in January with R290 coolant so what do you think will be a better unit ? It's worth to wait for LG or buy this Samsung? Appearance is very similar but specs are not known yet for LG, at least I haven't found them. Thanks!
Looks a good unit. Very similar to the Daikin Altherma 3H HT in looks & performance. But a bigger unit
When will samsung ashp get some form of remote control and remote monitoring of their pumps. The smart things app is very basic. These bits of kit are complex and have electronics controlling everything but gives very little info to the user or maintainer on when things go wrong. If these systems are to become mainstream we need remote expertise on contract to be able to spot faults or poor performance without a site visit. Rant over. Keep on producing great Vids.
Unfortunately not at this stage. I have been informed the only remote access will still be via Smart Things. I agree that Samsung should step up in that department when you consider what homeowners would like from the Apps and of course transparency for the installer also.
@Dore Woodman -
when you want to compare the performance of samsung & ecodan, which one do you recommend ? ...like 5 pros and cons about these models...is there any reference links that you can share
We are still awaiting the performance data on the Samsung system and will be sure to let you know the details
Any thoughts on its CoP performance vs Samsung's Gen6 versions? Any indications on price points (again vs Gen6?)
I drilled them for answers on that and awaiting some data to show the CoP. As for the price point it will be pretty close to Gen6 but slightly inflated with slightly bigger plate exchangers and just general price increases etc. As soon as I know I will let you know.
Sounds like marketing magic
@@dorewoodman shame the chose to have a launch event without sharing 2 of the most important pieces of information.
@@smd-tech absolutely I agree, they told me all about the colour though 😆
From what I have seen of other manufacturers HT versions are generally less efficient/worse COP than their standard heat pumps - so even though it can do HT it is still more efficient to design the system around a low temp.
