Two brothers Sean and Daniel Diaz, 16 and 9, are forced to run away from home after a tragic incident in Seattle. In fear of the police, Sean & Daniel head to Mexico while attempting to conceal a sudden and mysterious supernatural power.
Life on the road is tough and now totally responsible for his much younger brother, Sean begins to realise that his decisions will impact their lives forever…

Goddammit, This is one of the first games i've seen where the parent is actually a good person and he dies first hour?? C'mon...
Yeah, The phase was a bit exaggerated, why he would shoot him in the chest and not in his leg ?!
Vamos España its because there is racism involve, thats why the officer shoot. The protagonist are Mexican, and many people on this game are racist just like the owner of that Gas Station.
It's certainly no surprise at all for the game to have racists as it's set in 2016 before the presidential elections. There was a massive resurgence of racism in the US during Trump's campaign period. And white people being evil and racists? Brainwashing? Wow. In reality, that's only ever true for some rundown suburbs with middle-class to lower-class populations and isolated regions where old-fashioned white people are the majority that still uphold their post-dominant beliefs. Plus not everyone in the game is bad anyways. The mom from the family at the gas station sounded as if she was willing to help if not for the father and Brody was more than helpful, and they're both white.
Im like the kid should have told the officer that it was fake blood...
Yes but Brody came from a family with money so he is way more educated than the policeman who shot Sean's dad.
Don't worry guys, your choices only impact whether your brother will love you or hate you more.
Nal Kawaleet the choices impact the whole game like if you punch someone on here it will impact the game like life is strange life is strange before the storm
Life is strange and Life is strange before the storm? Are you referring to the two games where in the final episode of both all your choices didn't matter at all? Are you really wanting to use these two as an example of games where your choices have a real impact on the story?
Arthur Morgan, you mean this isn‘t Detroit Become human
Nal Kawaleet lol, that’s reassuring. (Love meh brother)
UM THATS STILL KINDA IMPORTANT CAUSE DANIEL IS BAE
I think the choices here don't impact Sean, they impact Daniel's behavior. I think how you treat him in the first and following episodes will have an effect on the final episode because Dontnod did actually confirm multiple endings. I think the way how you treat Daniel will impact your future, especially when Chris enters the storyline
so what you do doesn't really matter the father dies anyway
Green Bean yeah but Daniel doesn’t like you as much
at least give him his last Chock-o-Crisp..
@@samd1o14 Good thing he doesn't have to like us, he just has to respect and obey us.
Thing with Life is Strange is it has this condition I call Bandersnatch Syndrome or BS for short. In which the games present themselves as though your choices matter, In actuality they don't, They can't or else the plot can't continue especially episodically. They simply don't know how to progress the story if certain things dont happen. The problem is every episode except the last one has one ending and in The first game the final episode only had 2 endings. Which meant every single decision you make boils down to nothing. Because you could save some kids from Arcadia Bay, but doing so in no way effects the ending. Yet they made a point to keep having you help some of them throughout each episode. Which again does not matter in the end especially if you choose to sacrifice Chloe. Now the reason I call it Bandersnatch syndrome is because there are many points in these games where you're presented an option: A, B, or C. But those options all lead to the exact same thing so no matter what you pick the outcome is out of your hands, so why even pick? Why choose to Discuss, Flee, or Attack Hank if in all 3 outcomes you still get punched in the stomach and knocked out. If anything I would have designed to where one is Sean gets captured, the other is Daniel gets captured, and the last one is they both get away however hank is injured. That way your choices still matter, and in all 3 scenarios you still find your way to Brody, so it's not like it creates issues with the story. If anything it opens it up more. Because if Daniel is captured that can be a path in which he starts to find resentment towards Sean.
In Discuss: Sean gets knocked out and captured while Daniel Escapes
in Flee: You successfully run away however Daniel is captured, So you have to find a way to get him out, again he resents you for leaving him so that opens up more branches in the story.
Attack: Both get away, however Hank is injured and cops become a bit more aggressive in their search especially if you stole anything.
Not that each decision forces me down the same path. "Oh but it matters later" Ok but see, this series is episodic, meaning you have to wait months between each episode. And by that time people may lose interest, forget their smaller details, forget names and characters, etc. So even if your decisions matter later, by the time that happens, you either don't care or you forgot what lead up to it. Basically the best way to play is all at once, wait to have all episodes, then play. I think Life is strange is a fun game but there are so many problems it's less about your choices and how they impact the story but more about gauging your moral compass by the end.
I stole everything I could because I figured we're homeless, we have little money and without camping equipment things would get worse for them, especially with the colder weather coming. I don't condone stealing, but this is not a NORMAL situation you'd go through everyday. :(
Do you get caught if you steal?
monstersandcupcakes yes, you get caught whether you steal or not. But if you steal you get to keep the stuff you stole. If you don't you leave with only what you paid for.
@@weskershades oh okay, cool
same, i yoinked the soda, water, canned food, choco crisp, bread and camping equipment
i have a feeling stealing the camping stuff may bite you later because it may be recorded on camera... one more thing to tack on destroying the store
To everyone saying that this shows that decisions don’t matter:
It only shows immediate consequences, this is only episode 1. I’m not saying every choice will have a big impact later on, that migh not be the case but we don’t know yet.
wish there was a biggest difference between the choices :/
Oh you wanna discuss? Maybe you can convince him :)
Oh you wanna fight? Wapow! You socked that guy in the face earlier I mean...???
Oh you wanna flee?? Okay yeah maybe you get caught but aT LEAST MAYBE YOU HAVE A CHANCE
idk I get it but it annoys me x'D like I regretted not picking discuss or fight but um....same outcome so?
Its one of those games that will escalate later on, LiS1 ep1 is way slower than this one. Think of it as them setting a foundation to introduce characters that will play an important role.
I hope so! Having played the original I'm not sure how far they'll actually let things change. We'll just have to wait and see and possibly make terrible choices x'D
Agreed!!! When the man asked them to come inside the store to see if they stole something I was like "it's okay he didn't steal anything" but instead it's the same outcome??
It’s likely that the choice you make will affect Daniel later on, as he imitates your behaviour.
Fair enough! I hope this means the options will change more in the future then :)
My heart was broken in like the first 25 minuets of the game. That’s how i knew i was gonna love it 😭😩
Idk why, but I like when the Wolves appear when you pick a very important choice and that sound that goes with it. I've always had a thing for sound effects it's pretty amazing how they put together small details like that.
Andrew Swann facts
So even if you don’t steal and pay for everything you still get in trouble or what
Agathe Dragonhill - I stole from the station, but daniel still didn't steal anything from brody..
@@nagijuu did you steal before the guy accuses you of stealing while you were looking at the map or after when the guy is down?
Kim Yoojin - I stole before. I guess Daniel will only steal if you steal from that old man.
Actually, if you watch more gameplay that old man who accused Sean of stealing recognised Sean and Daniel from the newspaper and knew they were on the run. So he made up some bs excuse of them stealing so he could turn them in to the police and possibly get some reward for it.
Agathe Dragonhill oh
*Omg, that scene where Sean was beating Hank reminded me when Warren was beating Nathan*
W͟H͟Y͟ I͟S͟ Y͟O͟U͟R͟ C͟U͟M͟M͟E͟N͟T͟ B͟O͟L͟D͟
What about the last choice to dance with Daniel or tell him about his dad??
well, then Sean start dance with Daniel on bed and then when you stop dancing, Daniel ask something for drink first... and if you choose directly to tell him truth, he will ask something for drink anyway. so there is no difference much
P.J.S. Can’t wait until episode 2 I’ve beat episode 1 idk how many times I'm in love with this game this episode was intense
@@arthurmorgan3733 yep, I can't wait too, I hope next episode will be available in October
P.J.S. hope they release the episode to bc this company is fast at working on episodes
If this is similar to LiS then it will be release every 2 months
Im getting a tell tale vibe off of this game
BECAUSE APPARENTLY THE CHOICES DON'T MATTER
I mean I still like the story and all but cmon
Theruku The Big Gay it’s episode 1. For all we know these choices could have huge consequences later on
@@hannamadhatter that is true
@@TDYT103 lol a year later and we found out what you chose changes wether Sean dies or not
@@nicholasmaslonka4011 usually I remember my youtube comments, but I dont even remember typing this lmao. Guess the comment didnt age well either
I think the cops killing streak ended after that kill
A Fwiend his K/D got destroyed 🤧😭😭
He kinda deserved it ngl
Was kind of confused why they removed the choices when the police showed up, but after a but if thinking, I kinda understood. (Choices were Comply and Explain. The game just defaulted it to Explain)
I feel like they cheesed out, they could of easily let the older brother go to the party, have the police confrontation happen later because he ran home and the cops followed him, his father tried to reason with the officer but was just shot instead.
hell they could go on even longer, and have to crazy white kid go insane, coming over and shooting the father who protects his sons, when police come brother is so upset powers kill police, police assume by this point that is is brothers fault, and then they go on the run.
They can also make a line where BFF or potential lover comes along, because she is present after the party, because you decide to hit on her, and dont try to get the thot.
If anyone knows anyone at Dontnod that needs writters for the next game, im available.
I love it so much that you as an Elder Sister have one if not the biggest impact on your younger siblings. that is why even if your little siblings get on your nerves..always try to be the better one and lead them to the right direction..trust me in the future it will be all paid off. ❤ To all of my fellow Elder Sibling Friends.
So Brett died from falling on a rock?
Yes he did die, his spine broke and was paralyzed choking on his blood
DarkwareTheAwkwardGuy he's still alive
DarkwareTheAwkwardGuy he was hospitalized
He's recovering in hospital
Oh okay thanks guys!
It's stupid that our choices don't have more of an impact
jesus, they actually do
This is not TellTale. The choices in this game actually do matter! For example: If you did not call Lyra in Episode 1, she will end up in a psychiatric hospital in Episode 2.
@@franksmith613 Yeah, if Fiona encouraged Athena to kill the Atlas scientist in TFTB, said scientist wouldn't be available for recruiting in episode 5.
So you see, your example is no different from mine and therefore, makes it non valid.
Knowing the ending by mistake, I can see why all the choices from here matters, damn... also now I understand the big wolf or little wolf consequences...
This cop
It's the cops in North America. How bad they are
NovusTM that true I live in North America and cops are trigger happy for some reason
cock*
Poor Sean. He can't even tell Lyla the truth. I hope she returns in future episodes. Whether it's by phone or her looking for the brothers herself, it doesn't matter.
Bruh episode 1 came out 8 months ago and we’re still only on episode 3 😂
I haven't done anything wrong but bust open that self pay thing at the park. I don't want anything to be used against me if they somehow track us down and try to pin me as the bad guy. If you stole anything at the gas station I'm pretty sure it's be caught on surveillance and reviewed. Maybe I'm looking too far into it lol
at first i thought just like you. i didnt steal anything. but after all that shit happened i choosed to knock the guy out and steal the gear because i mean we r fked anyway everyone is thinking we killed the officer and i dont think they ll believe us since we r fleeing from the police
What i Don't understand if you decide to leave without the camping gear after you escaped the old man, he doesn't do anything but if you try to steal camping gear he suddenly reacts
Maybe he was in some kind of shock and he only reacted when sean approached him
I think that explosion was both of their powers combined when their dad was killed considering how strong the blast was. And we both know they have similar dangerous powers. So that's why it was that strong. It might of had an impact on both of them.
I still don't get why Sean kept acting guilty whenever he was innocent. Like with the cop with Brett and if you paid for all the stuff at the gas station. Like he acts so sketchy ofc they're suspicious
@Sktlo Will you be doing the small choices as well? (Daniels learning choices and seans small choices) I really enjoyed your videos on the Life is strange season 1, and would like to see them in season 2 :)
First comment! Thanks for uploading!
The part where he was looking at the video.. 💔
So those are the main plot choices. But aren't there several more smaller choices that also lead to different scenes with different dialogue or action? Like dancing on the bed? I'd also like to see those.
Oficer:on the ground! shot*
Dats how police work
This all crap starts because you won’t let your little brother hit on your childhood friend.. 😐
he aint no friend didn't you heard at the question option? He called you retars and all stuff and also MADE FUN THAT THEIR MOTHER LEFT THEM... he deserved to break his spine
Marius Zaharia they were talking about the part when Sean kicked Daniel out of his room when he was talking to Lyla
Marius Zaharia dude I meant the part were sean kicked out daniel for coming inside his room while skyping with lyla 😂 “hit on” means flirting i think you took it way to literal 😂
im just stupid goddamnit
So glad this channel exists, can you make videos for true colors.
While it's easy to think all these decisions make little difference (and LIS has been guilty of that before) I think this game actually is different, they do matter, your actions are influencing your 9yo brother and likely have a big effect on him at the end of the game. He's already making or not making bad decisions because of your decisions such as stealing from Brody nonsensically because he saw you steal.
i skip to 4:00 and i hear that again :D
The only really powerful impact in the story is if you decide to sacrifice Arcadia bay or not in LIS 1. But we don’t even know if we are going to go back there yet.
Guys its just the first episode, in the next maybe the choices go make a diferent future
Yeah they can. If you decide to not call Lyra in this episode, she will end up in a Psychiatric hospital in Episode 2.
This game has a worse illusion of choice than LIS1 and even, dare I say, Before the Storm. Super disappointed knowing that no matter what I did I would've ended up in the same exact situation.
I wish their were mor dialogue you can pick
I don't want dad to die. 🥺
WHY IS THERE NO OBEY CHOICE SINCE IN THE FIRST GAMEPLAY THEY SHOWED AT FIRST
TIME TRAVEL m8
so i just realized he either paralyzed or severed brett's spine because when he pushed brett, brett landed on a round rock
So theres no other way to not fight him
6:05 I wonder what this sound is or music
It’s survival of the fittest out here
I fucking hate the fact that in every game that the person always gets close up to the officer.JUST FOLLOW HIS INSTRUCTIONS TO NOT GET SHOT.
10:27 are you sure about that?
I have a "Damnit Daniel" syndrome
Telltale 2 confirmed
Don't worry, Choices in this game doesn't matter cause it will have the same outcome at the end!
Wait that's Telltale!
I would choose
Confront bett
attack
knock out and steal
call lyla
"I swear"
Everyone's saying that your choices don't effect the game but i think (obviously not sure because the full release Isn't out) that at the end you won't get to pick the ending like first life is strange. I think your relationship with Daniel will decide the ending. Max got to chose the ending in the first one, makes sense Daniel would "choose the ending" in this one. Which is about how Daniel feels, which is because of your choices throughout the game. Idk just my theory sjdjjdhd
Lol the freaking hell of Daniel
If only Brett kept his big mouth shut...
I wish it was a choice to throw away the phone.
2:38 did Daniel become the flash
So brett was made out of playdoh apparently because he can't take a hit for shit. Also its funny that the cop freaked out and shot the dad. I see they want to make this game resemble real life as much as possible because the cop at that point just wanted to shoot somebody.
Or maybe he thought the fake blood was real
شون ابو الغيره 😂😂
Ok but like real talk, that police officer musta been like wtf bc that kid was havin a seizure and he had blood on his shirt after sean punched him, i mean like it looks fucked but he jumped the gun.
sad the menu don't work in smartphone
This game is gonna make me confused all the way to the ending of the story
1:39 Well... He´s rigth xd
So if you steal you’re gonna get caught anyways right ?
Yes. But I guess it's more about what you're teaching Daniel to do.
K But now I don’t know if I should call Lyla or not😂😂
Call her!!
Yea I did lol, but now I dunno wtf to do about my HAUNTED BROTHER
if you steal from the store daniel steals from brody
em life is strange, nossas açoes n tem um peso logo d cara, mas mais pra frente o fato q a gente roubou no posto de gasolina ou nao vai fazer uma puta diferença dps
Why music???? Please name!! 0:01
how did Brett pass out/die
So Daniel was the one with the power?
Robert Weniger yep :/
Pp draws that’s bull who tf want to be powerless character
@@heyimseven because chloe was the main character, she's tied to max to this first season, we love both characters
no, sean was bleeding from the nose so I think Sean has power
that's because that racist guy kicked him in the nose ^^
So its the same
Can someone help me? I want to see the scene where they steal from Brody
That scene doesnt exist. Sean realises that daniel has stolen an item from him when they arrive at motel.
This is what i dont like so much in the Life is Strange franchise, they puto you in a fake sensantion of chosing but in the end they will do the same fucking shit. Its just tiny things that change, that is soo frustrating
What about buying Daniel a shirt
gg cop.
This is not all choice
Make small choices please
With out the music its wierd
Well at least BRODY is dead edit: sorry it was brett not brody im confused
So no matter what choice you pick it will not change the outcome. I'm sorry but this disappointed me.
francisjairam It all affects how Daniel is raised. Kids are impressionable, and this kid in particular, as he has lost his father. Whatever Sean does, Daniel is gonna pick up on that.
bruh they could've let us see the dad more then killed him off later not being mean just saying pls dont hate on me
•Okay Step Away!
-Calm down Officer
• SHUT UP
😂
So fucking mad. Also why did they run away? They didn’t do anything wrong!
Well, as I expected. Your choices doesn't matter. You know, what? It's getting old.
Where's Capitain Spirit?
Catalina Romero I agree
He's in Episode 2. Episode 1 takes place before the Captain Spirit demo. Episode 2 takes place a little before and after. That's why you should play the Captain Spirit demo before you play Episode 2.
If I see another fucking music.ly ad I'm gonna Nuke the world
Sorry, but i'm not gonna pay 40€ for a game where the story will probably only have like 2 endings where only the last choice mattered like LIS1, and the gameplay is mainly just walking, making choices that don't matter and drawing. I'd rather watch this online.
Atleast LIS1 had time travel, where you were able to figure out different choices by travelling back. Now I don't know about BTS because I never played or saw it.
Please someone help me I’ve been stuck on this for ages the family on the table won’t mobe
Cop should not have injured the dad
He killed him
I know but i feel bad that bully the reason their dad got killed
Dad shouldn't have get near to the cop when he HAD A GUN.
Yeah thats true.. he should have stayed put likw he said. But still.. its bullshit that he was shot period.
Choices don't matter
You dont know
I hope you're right. I didn't buy the game yet, but I've seen some gameplays and this.
Okay..... I'm feeling nothing so far..... Dad's dead. So what? Kids on the run? Who cares? I hope this changes.
???
tf do you mean so what
he died
John Bartholf so if your dad is dead and you’re on the run from cops then what? You would just be like “meh it’s not that serious”
Going on the run like that was a stupid decision to start with. Endangering his little brother's life because he doesn't want to have the police investigate a shooting? Now it looks like he's guilty of something, and of course all the people they meet are ignorant racists. I grew up in Texas where the population was 50% Mexican. You know how much tension there was with them and the non-Mexicans? None at all. But these kids seem to be having quite a bit of bad luck in that regard. More than I've seen in my life.
Like I said, I hope they make it better in ep. 2.
Damn!!
Pointless choices and bad acting.
You dont know if the choices are ''pointless'' this is literally the first episode out of 5 so take your ignorant comment somewhere else.
All videos like this do is prove how very, very little actual gameplay is in these "games". Nothing you choose matters in a Life is Strange game, because the outcome is always the same. The first game was like that, too, but at least the time travel mechanic allowed for some basic puzzles. This doesn't even have that. It is literally the definition of a walking simulator. And it isn't even an interesting one. The story is linear with little player input, but worse than that, it's boring.
I personally like these kinds of games and I don't find them boring, so it's all preference really.
Considering games like this are focussed on story and narrative rather than "innovative gameplay" - you should know full well that the game is going to be more story driven. I personally like being able to choose the direction the story goes, even if it mostly ends the same. It's not about the destination - it's about the journey. And if you don't like these kinds of games - That's fine. That's no reason to diss the game for being what it is, and being great at what it sets out to do. I would much rather do this than read a book or something tbh. It's the same concept but with an interactive touch. These choice based narrative games still have a story they need to tell, so of course the overarching story isn't going to drastically change because you stole something from a gas station. But your brothers behavior, such as stealing from Brody, is the consequence to these things. The story may take several paths to get to the predetermined route it needs to get to. There's nothing wrong with that. Especially since it's only episode 1 of 5 and you're already complaining about the game not having meaningful choices. We still have a ways to go. Just experience it and enjoy the story, or don't and try to avoid talking smack about a game just because you personally don't like it.
@@BerryBeastly I preach this so much.
In the preview of episode 2 we saw that Daniel learns to control his telekinesis power, so we will have some relevant mechanic as well I think.
Austin Tell me more about how I'm not allowed to have an opinion that's different than yours.
