Big fan of all three of these artists, thanks to WMNF 88.5 FM, Tampa Bay. Have seen them all three separate and together for this album. ONE OF THE BEST!
My all time FAVORITE Julie Miller song, and one of my favorite songs overall as well-the BEST hope and redemption song EVER written!! She is MAGIC, and yes, I do regret never seeing her live, in person with Buddy before she became too debilitated to tour anymore. :( One year at the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival, I caught up to Lucy when she got off of the 'Workshop Stage' and asked her if there was ANY WAY we could hear her do this song during her set on the Main Stage (all the while me knowing that both Richard AND Dar were performers at that year fest as well ;)). Lucy calls up Richard during her set, and also Tracy Grammer with her fiddle, and then breaks into THIS song (Dar had to leave the Fest by that point for another gig or something :( ). I all but did a standing backflip (and I was ~52 at the time!)!!! THANK YOU Lucy and Company for one of the BEST performances I've ever see at that festival, (and I was there the night Richard Thompson performed) or any other for that matter!!
I was at this show. I knew Dar Williams but I wasn't prepared for how amazing Cry, Cry, Cry was. Also was the first time I ever saw Buddy and Julie Miller who were also amazing. Cry Cry Cry and Buddy and Julie did "Green Pastures" together and it truly brought a tear to my eye with it's beauty. Julie Miller was truly a unique voice and performer. I wish she still went out on the road with Buddy! Wish Cry Cry Cry would do another album.
I saw them at our local high school (Indian Hills) in Oakland NJ on New Years Eve1998. Awesome, going to see them again at Tarrytown Music Hall, Tarrytown, NY on Oct 28th, 2017. cant wait.
Wow, I own albums by Julie and Buddy Miller, as well as Lucy Kaplansky, Richard Shindell, and Dar Williams. Who knew they were all involved in this one brilliant song! Thanks for posting it!
I have the one album by Cry, Cry, Cry and have enjoyed listening to it very much over the years. I often wondered if they had other songs they had sung at that time together that never got recorded for one reason or another? It would be great if there are more songs, that it would be released as Cry, Cry, Cry - their second album. Or, if there are no more songs from that time, if they would ever consider releasing some current songs together as a trio? It would be great to hear them sing together again after all these years.
@@suzannelawson9215 Hi, Suzanne, I have even more I found just yesterday! Hey, could you give me a Facebook messenger message and I'll tell you the URL(s) for them? Including an entire live concert? Just don't want to give these to everyone. Glad you love this group as much as I do!!
hey, everyone knows that they put out 4 new songs as a re-release of the original album, 2 of them live, plus an entire show done just last year, right? If not, I know where to find it.
Optimism is a two edged sword. I've seen so many wrecked lives in our Aurora Avenue North neighborhood in Seattle, I can see this kind of song being more an excuse for not doing anything rather than as a support for those poor souls out on the road selling themselves and trying to survive. It may feel good selling nice ideas to people who can afford a pretty concert, but this will not help those who are doomed to never afford it.
This has become my personal anthem over the years. Thank you for posting. I hope it becomes true someday
We saw Cry Cry Cry in New York and were blown away. We saw Lucy and Richard again recently when they toured their recent collaborative album.

Yep, I was there as well in Oakland, NJ...forgot the year. Lucy had a cold. Great show!! Love them all. And Julie.
Maybe someday they will do another...I love them all.
you are lucky. I never saw them. Agreed on the 20 years. Greatest folk album ever on my list.
Great song, great performance.

Lucy is one of the BIGGEST Julie Miller fans, by her OWN admission during short discussions I've had with her at shows. ;)
God-like performance

They DID release 2 new songs last year, and did a whole concert live, just the 3 of them. it's amazing.
@Suzanne Lawson please read my comment above about the 2 new songs? and the entire live concert from last year?
@@Parrish_Muhoberac
What are those two new songs and they on an album?
Also, is this concert you mentioned, available to hear anywhere?
