  • Both the NuPhy Air75 V2 and Keychron K3 Max are great options in a 75% low profile keyboard. But in 2024, the much better battery life and more refined sound & feel make the Air75 V2 the best choice in my opinion. What do you think?

    Your videos are awesome dude. I tested a couple low profile keyboards that I could find at the local bestbuy and went down the rabbit hole looking for something higher quality after liking the low profile setup. Just bought an Air75 V2! Super excited for it to show up. Super high quality videos on here. Good work!

    Based on your past reviews, I purchased the NuPhy Air75 V2 with the Gateron brown switches. Since this is my first mechanical keyboard, I have nothing to compare it to. The experience using it is better than expected. I'm sure I made the right choice. Thanks for the chance to win the Keychron K3 Max.

    I picked the Air75v2. I really do like the floating key cap style but the NuPhy just seems like a better experience for my first mechanical keyboard.
    I got Aloe switches in it and added some browns extra. Also grabbed those shine through key caps. Which is a nice perk of going with the NuPhy order is grabbing that stuff while you're there.
    Waiting on delivery from China. Lol Amazon doesn't have the caps or switches for the price you get from NuPhy. Now the aloes.

    Would love to get a NuPhy Air75 V2 but it's not available in Europe and also not in an ISO layout. It boggles my mind why these companies don't want our European money. First ISO layout white 75 low profile keyboard available in EU gets my money.

      Nuphy ships to Europe. I recently saw in the FB group someone who had theirs shipped to Germany, arrived in 2 weeks, IIRC and no taxes! Just get one. The Enter key in the ANSI layout isn't that bad afterall.

    • @odhiambo0
      @odhiambo0 4 місяці тому

      @@MDx9619 there are several discount codes that you can use that give you 10% off the price. Such a discount can then cover your shipping costs. Do you see the logic? For example, with SEMIPRO as the code you will save 10% (13USD) with Air75v2, which then means your shipping cost would be equivalent to 12USD because of that discount. And you can use these codes over and over! So go right ahead and get your Air75v2 or Air96v2.

    Your reviews have always been great. They have always nfluenced my choices on these mechanical keyboards. For now I have a few questions you can help me with:
    1. Are the keycaps on the K3 Max interchangeable with those on Air 75v2? I am asking because I bought Nuphy shine-through keycaps for use on the K1 Max (which I bought). Nuphy kind of said that they can be interchangeable. Because the keycaps for K3 Max are the same as those for K1 Max, could you kindly test for me the interchangeability of the keycaps ?
    2. You've said that the switches can work on both. Am I right that I can use the Nuphy branded switches on the K3 Max (and so also on the K1 Max)? I intend to use Cowberry on my K1 Max (PS: Both my K1 Max hot-swappable and Air 72v2 are still in the high seas with Air 75v2 arriving in about 7 days and the K1 Max arriving in 3 weeks.)
    3. I wonder IF the batteries are interchangeable as well. It would probably be easy to install a higher capacity battery on the K3 Max (also K1 Max) so as to compete with Air 75v2. Please try that modding 🙂. My 1st modding for K1 Max will be the battery - a larger one!

    I got a Keychron K3 Max (hot-swappable) with Gateron red switches and it's been great. It's noticeably quieter than my previous normal profile keyboard (also red switches) and sounds incredibly satisfying. Not too worried about the battery life because it still lasts for weeks without the backlight, and I use the provided adapter to place the 2.4G receiver nearby so plugging it in takes less than a second.

    • @LysineAA

    Is there still any spacebar rattle in the Nuphy Air75 V2? I have the V1 which has a little bit of rattle every now & then and was thinking of upgrading.

  • @marinaalex0510

    Hello. Thanks for the comparison. So I want to change my setting in the office, replacing the wired keyboard and mouse. For a keyboard, I'll go for the Nuphy Air75 V2. But since Nuphy doesn't offer a mouse - what would you recommend?
    Also - which switch on Nuphy Air75 V2 provides a typing experience the closest to MacBook? At home, I use a MacBook Air M2 and love it.
    Thank you in advance

    Hi, I would like to share my experience with low profile keyboards. I bought a Keychron K3 pro and was impressed with it but missed the 2.4GHz dongle. I rethought everything and returned the keychron.
    My alternative I bought was the NuPhy Air75 V2. Now comes the big "BUT". The NuPhy could not pair at all with either device via bluetooth. I tried updating the keyboard, and no improvement. I wrote to support, but when they found out I bought the keyboard through a subcontractor they didn't want to deal with it.
    I'm very disappointed and from what I've read on Reddit I'm not alone. A lot of people have had horrible experiences with NuPhy support.
    I'm thinking pretty strongly about the Keychron K3 MAX.

    Great review! Although, you're not commenting on which keyboard is more silent independently on how nice it sounds plus you don't mention which produces less typos. In my experience with keyboards that have flat keys, like nuphy, it's easier to make typos because you accidentally press neighbouring keys. On the other hand I know keychron uses angled keycaps which again in my experience are better for typing and produce less typos. I'd like to listen to your opinion on those two points! Thanks!
    Edit: You're also not mentioning that you can get the K3 Max with white led and no hot swap for just 94 dollars which is quite less than Nuphy! Some people might prefer that!

    • @semiprotech
      @semiprotech  5 місяців тому +3

      Hi! I did actually say that the K3 Max also comes in a cheaper version with white backlight and non-hot swap switches at 10:33. But I focused on comparing the RGB hot-swap version because the Air75 V2 is only available in that configuration. In terms of sound level, the K3 Max in general is a bit quieter, but neither one is silent in any of the available configurations - you would have to find some silent low profile switches for either one to truly minimize the sound. The K3 Max with linear switches is probably the quietest overall. In terms of the keycaps, I did not personally notice a difference in my rate of errors between them, and I believe keycap profile is almost entirely down to personal preference. I actually prefer flatter keycaps for low profile keyboards and don't find a significant difference in the amount of errors after a short adjustment period.

    • @thegreekbrick
      @thegreekbrick 5 місяців тому

      @@semiprotech Thank you very much for the lengthy reply! I've seen some other people complaining about typos on flat keycaps. Maybe it has to do with preference but lets take into account that most normal profile (non low profile) keyboards are OEM or Cherry profile which have angled keycaps, so most people are used in angled keycaps in the first place. It's a pitty that such portable keyboards are not that quiet since many people will buy them to use at work. Maybe we'll start seeing silent low profile switches in the future.

      Yes, Nuphy is faaar louder compared to the k3 max (and even k3 pro). Might have to do with they design and the switches; but since the cowberry ones are linear and browns tactile the former ones should be quieter, which clearly isn't the case.

      I received the Air75 v2 end of last week, with Wisteria switches. The typing experience is great. They are the perfect tactile switches. Very low noise and the bump is low resistance and after you travel a bit. I tried the other switches that came with it. Moss has a far higher resistance and the actuation point is at the beginning, so you need quite more strength to type with them, which I could tell would make me tired much more quickly.
      What in the end happened is that I sent the board back and am getting the same one with the linear Cowberry switches. They are great for typing AND gaming (even with the light bump Wisteria switches are too noisy and too slow when using WASD to play) and even lower tone/noise. They also have a very light actuation point at the beginning and when you bottom out they are a bit 'cushioned', unlike the Aloe ones that are extremely loose and bottom out very fast by pretty much just touching them.

    I got the nuphy Air75 v2, I love it, sounds amazing with cowberry switches. I will be buying the shinethrough keycaps at a later point. For those who are moving from a full size keyboard, I do miss the numpad :( I have been working without since but lots of applications I use could certainly use a numpad (blender for 3d, I do alot of invoices for my clients... so I constantly reach for the numpad). While great for gaming I think ill also buy a nuphy air96 for work now that im totally hooked on their product. For gaming I love the 75% size, cant complain at all. I previously used an alienware mechanical full size cherry keyboard, the nuphy is so much better in sound, quality, and thanks to @SemiPro's reviews I do believe the best sounding thoccy low profile keyboard, I love it!
