SEPT 9,2000. Miami loses to Washington 34-29 at Husky Stadium. This will be the only regular season loss for QB Ken Dorsey. This Broadcast is from ABC.
Back in the good old days when top tier teams actually did home and homes against major conference opponents. Kudos to the Canes for having the guts to come all the way to Seattle. Way more guts than today's SEC teams who only play "neutral" games in their own backyard.
That 2000 miami team at the end of the year was even better than the 01 team. If this games happens in November, regardless of where, miami would win and be undefeated and national champions. Hats off to Washington for sure. They had a really good team and deserved to win the game.
The Beaver thumping of Notre Dame was so sweet!!! ND was so arrogant going into that game and the Beavs creamed them. ua-cam.com/video/R7cPoeV4RnE/v-deo.html
Lifelong Hurricanes fan and current Seattleite. No hate on U-Dub for this game; they wanted it more than Miami did. What IS bullshit is that neither of these teams played for the national title.
These two teams, along with Oregon State, were the hands down best squads in 2000. It’s a total joke that FSU (who the Canes beat) and Oklahoma played in the title game. OU would have gotten their ass kicked by the Canes, UW and Beavers.
Oklahoma was 13-0 in 2000. there is zero reason for them to not have been in the title game. but yes, any of the 3 out of UW OSU and UM were better than Florida state. all 3 offenses would have scored more than the 2 points FSU scored vs OK....
You miami fans are true clowns. OU who beat 5 ranked teams to miami's one. Beat number 1 and number 2 in back to back weeks didn't deserve to be in the title game?
Mohit Garg What? In 2000 Miami beat FSU andVirginia Tech who both finished 10-1. You’re dreaming if you think that Jason White team could’ve beat Miami in the Orange Bowl. As it was OU barely beat a Seminole team without its starting quarterback. OU was the 5th best team that year, behind Miami, Washington, Oregon State, and FSU.
Miami was a much more talented team but the crazy Husky Stadium crowd rattled them and the Dawgs fed off the energy in the stadium and played their best game of the year. Still to this day the loudest football crowd I've ever experienced in person.
Not their best game of the year at all - this was early in the season. Their best game was a hard fought win over Drew Brees and Purdue in the Rose Bowl. Sick and tired of Canes fans making excuses for losing this game. Just admit that you got beat by a better team on that day. Sometimes you have to play on the road. Husky fans don't make excuses for the ass-whooping the Canes laid on them in Miami the following year.
You people need to pick a better line than saying UW played their best ball to beat what anyone East of Texas or What. UW won and had the most talent in this because winning what proves.
Despite a close win early in the year, I doubt Washington fans actually think the Huskies were a better team that year. That said, UW had a better argument to play OU than FSU.
Husky fan here. Miami definitely was a better team. The wild crowd played a huge role in the outcome of the game. If this game was played on a neutral site I bet UM would have won.
@@AaronStark1993 SaluTe. I definitely respected the program back then. I knew Miami would be loaded an expected at least a NC appearance. Idk we were traveling to Spokane for the opener until the week of. I was very nervouS beforehand and not at all shocked, though disappointed. NeuheiSal recruits good players anD has a nice system. Also those fans iN the Northwest are not to be phucced with.
Joe Johnson Miami should have been in the National Championship vs OU. That should have been a great Game. OU had an awesome D that year. FSU was not a match up be OU. Miami would have Match up better. FSU laid a big fat egg....
Every coach, player and college football fan in general knew that the BCS was totally ridiculous and not good at all for the college game it was totally flawed which is why they got rid of it and yes Washington got fucked over that season they had a great team that year and they finished 3rd in the country that year and should have gotten a shot at OU in the National Championship not Miami!
Oklahoma Sooners!! Boomer Sooner!! 13-0 National Championship!!! #enoughsaid!!! No disrespect to the mighty canes! That team was very very talented!! Maybe one of the greatest!! That year though Miami lost a game and had to barely escape a win due to the fact that Bobby Bowden teams suck ed at special teams! No team was beating Oklahoma that night! We both played fl.st and Miami couldn't stop Wienke and fl.st! They didn't score nothing on our Defense!!
UW alum here. There's no doubt Miami had the more talented team. Miami wasn't quite there yet, in terms of living up to their abilities. Once they beat FSU later in the year, they didn't look back for 34 straight games. I'm glad that game was only 60 minutes because if Miami had more time, they probably would have overcome their early deficit. But at the same time, UW's defense held pretty strong in the 2nd half. The last Miami TD came after a UW interception inside their own 10 yard line. They got a few 4th down stops before that, and did well at stopping Dorsey throughout the game.
Nope - that Miami team would never win against UW in Seattle. UW let up in the second half because they slept a little on their lead - the lead they got by thoroughly beating the sh*t out you.
bullshit. if it happened that way and a team like miami or alabama would have been left out, in favor of a team that they beat, people would have LOST THEIR MINDS and you know it.
2001 was a completely different year with different teams - UW didn't even have Tui in 2001 and had a terrible record. UW was better than Miami in 2000 and if you don't like it, sorry - you lost. It's a fact.
@@mrog5481 I agree 2001 UW was no longer elite, but they were not 58 points worse than 2000. On the road or neutral site (and at the end of year), 2000 Miami would have murdered Washington. Miami was not the same team that lost in September as VT and a very good UF team both found out. The Huskies are a GREAT program and I actually enjoy watching them, but the talent between Washington and Miami in 2000 and 2001 was like that of a jv team vs. varsity. Washington is a much better program now. That said, I have to give a ton of credit to the crowd and UW's QB for beating us, though it must be said (and the same goes for UW in 2001) that it is almost impossible to travel across the country and beat a good team in a big game.
Seriously? Give me a break. The Huskies were up 28-9 late in the 3rd quarter. The Canes didn't run out of time, the Huskies started trying to run out the clock because they had a huge lead. This was a beat down with a score that made it look closer than it actually was when the Huskies took the foot off the gas pedal.

Agreed! As a Canes fan, I hate playing GT, Duke, UNC, etc. every damn year!
It was probably the last great college football season
Drew Maglio me too
Hell. Yeah.
All Lambo's guys. Rest in peace coach and bless you for making toughness the prerequisite entry fee.
Amazing how far picture quality has increased in almost 20yrs.
RIP Curtis Williams and Anthony Vontoure, you will never be forgotten!
RIP Al Blades and Chris Campbell on Miami as well!
@@virtual_warbirds both died in separate car accidents wow

This game still hurts but what a 3 year ride after that good times..
The Pac-10 placed three teams in top 7 at the end of the season. Washington and Oregon st both won BCS games. The conference had an excellent year.

@Joe Lavigne Great players make mistakes too. Did you miss your QB's awful interception at the end of the game?
M Rodgers - I’m a Husky season ticket holder lol. How did you think I’m a Miami fan based off my original comment?

That needs to be the permanent intro for college football on ABC.
Was at this game back then! Go Dawgs!!🐕🐕🐕
65-7
So many future nfl stars that day..
Dorsey had all stars around him in college and was trash in the league
Miami really went all the way to Washington!!! #FEARLESS
even though this game cost us a National Title it did turn Miami into a Machine for 3 years

+norvin navarrete You're an idiot!
Jelly Donut, don't forget Curtis Williams as another great loss!
This is why Top ranked sec teams don't travel out West.
Dream on. Who out west is that good this year? I'll wait. PLUS the SEC iS usually a gauntlet unlike anything seen out west in a long time.
I like the horn!!!
can you restabalize this?

Paul Arnold never quite lived up to the hype. He had the size and the speed, but he had trouble finding the hole during his entire Husky career.
He became a Wide Receiver in 2001 due to all the injuries he had while playing Running Back. Him and Reggie Williams were a great duo out wide.
Washington got they ass moped up and down the following year
I was at this game....if we had 1 more half of a qtr we win this...the UW fans were crazy...a few fights in the lobby.

One more quarter would just allow the Huskies to sack and pressure Dorsey that much more.

We should've went to the national championship game in 2000.
Husky should have played for the national championship that year, bullshit Miami played over them it cost them national championship.
Florida State played in the title game, not Miami. And I agree, the Dawgs deserved to play OU
Regardless of the outcome, Miami still should have played for the title
washington lost just 1 game that year too, so why would miami go to the game over washington. Your an idiot

@@cory2023 Because Miami was clearly better than UW, despite a fluke first half on the road, early in the season. 65-7 the next year proved that.

Washington escaped with this one lol miami ran out of time
The Huskies played a more complete game. So they won.
That can be said for every team that loses a game. Time ran out and they had less points.
