Miami's LB play was phenominal in this game. Every run that looks like it could break for 8-10 yards, a single LB makes the stop to hold it to 2-3 yards.

Miami should’ve kept the Orange Bowl. What a great stadium and atmosphere.

I remember the NY Times preview for that college season. It said "There are teams better than Miami. They play on Sundays."

And so very true. God I miss the old Miami Hurricanes SO much. They were the most thrilling team in any sport on earth. Thanks for the memories 80's and early 90's Canes, along with 2000-2003.

All I remember was when Houston scored late in the game. They celebrated like they won the SWC championship. It was ridiculousness at its finest.

Back then just scoring a TD against the Canes in the Orange Bowl was a moral victory for teams. Sad how things have changed SO much since the Canes and Dolphins left he Orange Bowl for that POS soccer stadium they play in now.

They never recovered after this game. Started off a top 10 team, and I think they only won 3 more games after this.

I remember David Klingler was gonna come down and put on a clinic show us how it’s done he was a good QB . But things don’t go the way they’re supposed to in the orange bowl especially at night .🙌🏼GO CANES!

Miami opened an industrial sized can of whip-ass on Houston. Miami played angry because of all the hype around Houston's offense. Many a team's dreams were crushed in the OB. I loved that place when the crowd was hyped..could not even hear myself scream it was so loud.

One of the most damaging defeats that I've seen any program take - really exposed the Houston juggernaut. It proved that they didn't have great athletes - they racked up numbers and points using a system that wasn't familiar to defenses at the time. Miami proved they could be stopped just like any other offense if you prepared for them right and/or had more talented athletes than them.

In that current toilet the Canes and Phins play (lose) in you will never hear that kind of noise. Worst decision ever to move out of the Orange Bowl.

Well at least Miami has the video tape to prove that they were once Invincible. It's an absolute astonishing fact of college football for teams to be great for many years and then drop off the face of the Earth.
I still can't believe they haven't been relevant for at least 16 or 17 years now.

    • @GOPMAN71
      @GOPMAN71 3 роки тому +2

When Miami goes back to white QB's they'll be relevant again. Just the brutal, honest to God truth. They've tried the same shit with black QB's ever since Brock Berlin graduated in 2004 and haven't had a white QB since and have been a joke ever since. Not a coincidence one bit.

    • @jimegan6783

The landscape for the Canes is different now. As a private school not named Notre Dame Miami doesn't enjoy the money your Alabamas, Ohio States, and Clemsons (as public universities) receive. It doesn't have nearly the money Notre Dame has, which allows ND to afford the same quality of facilities the state schools do. That has contributed to a divide in recruiting. Without an on campus stadium, and with reliance on the Dolphins' home, students have a much greater distance to travel to get to games. Of course the loss of the Orange Bowl and its atmosphere has been a big twist of the knife in the Canes' side.

      Let's really look at this?
      1) Miami had two weeks to prepare for this offense.
      2) John Jenkins was a complete bonehead with his play calling. Mouse Davis would've picked Miami apart.
      3) Their o-line lost a lot guys do to graduation.
      4) This same Miami team lost to a BYU with lesser talent this same year.

You don't know shit. This was a very good Miami FL. Football team. Just because they don't have players in the NFL that you know of, let's me know your so called knowledge of college football. Your not a true college football guru or fan. Mario Cristabol is now Oregon ducks head coach. Those LB's were nasty Darrin Smith, Jessie Armstead, & Michael Barrow. DL- Rusty Medearis & Kevin Patrick. DB's McNeil & Williams.
