I just order this colour bike with black aluminium boxies. Manifacture week is 4/2019. Just waiting the next season, first new bike to me and my co-rider....I am happy!!!
Wow - that's going to be a wait!! But I'll posit that it'll be well worth it. Have to admit, I can't wait to ride the GSA variant, too - and that will be tempting...
Being an owner of the Africa Twin, I actually like the new HP1250 colour scheme with the gold wheels. I’m seriously considering one, maybe next year. Thanks for your ride review. 👍
BMW actually had a white GS's way back in 1980, when they were defining the genre. And in the 90's some had white hand-guards, like the R100GS PD for instance. Neither BMW or Honda can claim the first Adventure 'beak' though - that was Suzuki's DR750.
Thanks for that - being very much a "back after 38 years" biker I've missed out on much. Must keep my eyes open for vintage Beemers with white hand guards!
Good review, I have a HP on order but we won't get them here in Australia for a couple more mths yet. Your review confirms it will be worth the wait & I'm glad I didn't buy a 2018 R1200GS.
Very useful vid. I am thinking of moving up to one and test ride a r1250 GS tomorrow. Good also to see all the head checks you undertake. Never just trust your mirrors!
I've traded my 2018 GSA in for one of these, feels SO MUCH lighter than my Adventure. I will say that the shift cam only kicks in at 5000 rpm (or when throttle is pinned). I find mine super-smooth at low revs and low speed but to really feel the difference between old and new you need to pin the throttle. It just keeps pulling....and pulling..... and pulling....:) :) :)
Very nice review/test ride at low speeds, where it matters the most for me... Thanks mate. And I would like for you to change your name to Big Muzzy hahahha. Cheers from across the pond. Cant wait till I see your GSA test ride video...
can’t understand why people have a problem with Africa twin colour scheme, I think they’ll sell loads of em’. Btw, any chance you can video a night ride on your GSA (like you did on the K1600) to show if the GS LED light is any good at night. It looks very small compared to the K1600 light. thanks.
David Dorn That’ll be great. Try and include some dark unlit lanes as well. Also, can’t remember if you have auxiliary spotlights, but if you do, please show difference with and without em’. Thanks.
I traded my 2018 1200 GS TE for a 1250 TE exclusive and IMO it's a better bike in a number of areas as well as the engine. The GSAP and gearbox are smoother the hill hold is loads better and it seems to handle better too. Not that there was much wrong with the 1200, just that the 1250 is the better bike. Whether it's worth the swap is down to the individual to decide.
Some of the moaning is welcome, I've got to say - my aim is to give folks the kind of channel they want to watch, and if certain things I do annoys enough people, then I'll know to change them! Mind you, being set in my ways, you never can tell!!! Thanks for watching and your kind comment!
Thanks David nice vid. It feels lower because with the HP version you can select the "pillion-friendly" version this seems to be the oneYou are on. If you had a center stand then it is the lowered (frame) version. No center stand on the regular HP. The lowered version also comes with a black lowered seat instead of the HP rally seat in blue, red and white and a larger windshield. Looking at the demo you are riding all of above is there. So it is the lowered pillion- freindly (for lack of a better word..) HP version for sure. Best, JR
I queried it, and it was definitely not the lowered frame version, according to the dealership - they had none in, they said. Either way, it’s a lovely ride, though!
I was told it was Brembo, and it looks identical to the Brembo that’s on my GSA, but, it could be something else. But, with that said, it works very well anyway, and what’s in a name? ;)
It is indeed. I've had it around a year and it's done exactly what I've asked of it. Only on the very hottest of days has it been anything other than superbly comfy - and, best bit of all, it has never stunk - same is true of the matching pants. Not something I can say of other textiles I've had...
Yeah - you'll notice that the dirty phone call effect doesn't happen when the bike's running - something to do with the automatic gain control on the Sony Action Cam I used for this one. Point taken, and next time there'll be a better solution employed.
The color combination is fine for me, however too many angles in the design for me. Not a big fan of asymmetrical of headlights on bikes in general. I can understand the appeal especially to those new school folks. I lean to lighter bikes with smoother curves and just enough technology that improves reliability but not so much that leaves in question, who is in charge.
There are always standard things we need to know which are constantly left out. I get all the stuff your saying it’s par for the course. Gear. Change is it smooth either manual or shifter. Vibes .through bars or foot pegs which can be very tiring. How does it cope with potholes avoid all or it soaks them up. What’s the seat height like I have a 30 inch inside leg What demographics does this work for
Kinda thought I’d said gearchange is smoother than previous - not quite as slick as the K1600, but slicker than the R1200GSA I ride. No vibes at either foot or hands that I’d noticed - very smooth in that regard. I’m 20 stone - potholes are no problem for me, may well be for someone of more average weight. As I pointed out, I have a 30 inch inseam, and get flat footed no bother. AS far as I’m concerned, this bike will work for pretty much anyone. Had I not just bought a 2018 GSA, I’d be in the market. Keep your eyes peeled for the R1250GSA test ride...

I've just picked up the same bike... fantastic!
Love the FLoaB name, and great video/review. Thanks for posting.
Thank you! The name is nothing if not descriptively accurate!

It’s growing on me!
That color is spot on! Nice pick
It's growing on me!

Darth Vader would be proud of the heavy breathing.. Are you related? Great video!!
Thank you... I AM your father!

Definitely a step up from the 1200GS, no doubt about it...

Thank you - enjoy the test ride. And yes, shoulder checks round these parts are mandatory!
Looks like you're having fun :) - - - Thanks DD
You’re very welcome...
Great review David
Thank you...
Best looking GS so far...
Certainly beats the 2018 Rallye livery...

It does pull... and pull... and pull... yes, yes it does!
Hi David....front brakes are not Brembo, they are built in USA I believe..
Apparently so - which begs the question, why Brembos on the back?

Thank you!! The GSA review should be too far away, and, again, I'm captain slow!!!
Great video👍. First time watching you and you have a new subscriber😁. I’ve just part exchanged my 2017 GS Rallye for the HP and I’m loving it😁👍
I just picked up my 1250 HP 2 days ago. Hope it stops raining here in the uk 🥴
You're not alone in hoping for that!!!
Very good review. I enjoyed it.
Thank you!
Thank you! I enjoyed filming it!

I think you are right! Yes, i shall do that...
David Dorn That’ll be great. Try and include some dark unlit lanes as well. Also, can’t remember if you have auxiliary spotlights, but if you do, please show difference with and without em’. Thanks.
Got me planning a route now!!!
Thanks David
You're very welcome, of course!

Great video, Thanks for sharing. Don't listen to all those moaning in the comments.

Nice review David and good to hear your voice! Im going to give it a go in a couple of weeks too. Clearly not as civilised as an RT though ;-)
Thank you! I’ll be riding the R1250RT as soon as I can, too. You’re going to enjoy the GS - much easier for slow riding!
Those aren’t Bremen’s on the front. Actually made by a different manufacturer than the rear.
Hayes, yes... Can't quite understand why they haven't got the same manufacturer front and rear... I'm sure they have their reasons... ;)
My dream bike! 🍻
It IS a beauty, even if I do prefer the GSA variant.
❤👍BMW GS1250👍❤
Slight mistake: No Brembo at the front wheel anymore, that is why it is labeled BMW
I was told it was Brembo, and it looks identical to the Brembo that’s on my GSA, but, it could be something else. But, with that said, it works very well anyway, and what’s in a name? ;)
These are hayes brakes. You can read it on the inside of the brake pliers. But great video! :)
Ah! Thank you... and also, thank you!
Is that a Rukka 'Nivala' jacket I see in your right mirror....how do you find it overall..love some feed back

💪🏍✌🏻
i had a bit of difficulty watching this because of all the heavy breathing, but other than that, good review

Are you one of the hairy bikers 😁
I should be so lucky... I do cook a bit, but can’t dance to save my life... oh... wait... ;)
Exhaust is now bigger, bugger will need a new Remus🙄
Apparently Euro 5 compliant...
Those brakes are not bmw badged brembo brakes they are hayes brakes my ne gsa rallye has gold brembos all round
Personally these arent my type of bike tbh im more of a sports bike guy.
Adam Aston I wish I still had the flexibility in the back to ride a sports bike. But that and the belly means I need a sitty-up job!
Slightly too close to the microphone I suggest.
There are always standard things we need to know which are constantly left out. I get all the stuff your saying it’s par for the course.

If you don’t like the movement...watch something else. Just saying!
Well rode Mr Porn..
Shush now... knowledge of those films was not supposed to leak out... ;)
@@FLoaB well said.... ride safe ))
Please stop moving your head like a broken robot!!
It’s called observation, the roads in the north east are full of idiot car drivers...🤨
Quite! And, also, it’s a symptom of the stabilisation in the camera, without which we’d all be dizzy watching such vids!
Great video but an fortunately not watchable because of that video left right head movement .Maybe if you change the camera mount placement.
Good vid. It’s on helmet camera, and not a tv quality production. Do you expect him to have a camera guy, sound guy etc?
Oh, how I wish! It’s that fine line between making good video and not being squashed by a truck...
Great bike shame its got a slight look of the Africa Twin ,,
Yeah... and it stands out!
For me it's what makes it.
rick burgess BMW had that colour scheme years ago, long before the Africa Twin version...
