  • Blu3 is a great company that manufactures hookah diving systems right here in the United States. They were so kind to send their Nomad to me to test for a few weeks. I have been able to get out with it several times to test and review it.
    I wanted to get my friend Craig to see it in action while he was my dive buddy in this video.
    Notice: This video is not a treasure hunting video. It is a product review from the perspective of a certified open water diver.

    I personally recommend this unit to one who is not ready to be dive certified. It would also go great with a stand-up paddle board to head out to your favorite spot in the lake or ocean to do some shallow water diving.
    As always, it is recommended that you dive with a partner for safety reasons.

    I hope you enjoy the video and check out the fun activity I did under the water.

    It's always good to get a certified person's take on a new product, Stephen. The Blu3 looks like a good system to my untrained eye!💖

    Awesome review! I wish there was more water around me I could dive for treasure in.

      That is one thing we have here in upstate SC. I have 3 lakes right here close.

    As a certified advanced diver I think these are great units, but the dangers are taken too lightly. At 10 feet deep, breathing compressed air can still kill you if you don't take it serious, let alone at 30 feet. And biggest the risk is that in case of material failure the precautions that should be taken to prevent injury or death from 30 feet deep are not just understood by watching a video after buying the unit. These "toys" can be deathly if not taken serious. And their popularity is growing, so we will see the lawsuits rolling in because of injury and even death, and then even for a 10 foot deep unit a certification will be required before you can buy it.

      Yes the dangers are very real.
      They are getting more and more popular, no doubt. Education is key.
      I do see a future certification by law coming. In fact, I believe everyone should have that.
      Every time I defend below the surface, I do my best to do what I have learned to do from the manufacturer and from my one-on-one training I received from my diver friends.
      Thanks for watching

    Very good fundamentals of going deeper than 30 ft. I’m an ol school commercial Mississippi diver🥟

    Having gotten my padi AOW, the device seems relatively safe as long as its functioning properly, as you cant get past 33 feet with it, where as he mentioned, is nearing 2 atm of pressure.
    The only thing im concerned about is that the people using it know how to use it, like equalising pressure in the ears ears, remembering to not hold your breath, being mindfull of the hose and the batterly life, and not exceeding the no stop limit (as he mentioned using a dive computer can help with this) as if you do, you run the risk of getting decompression sickness.

      Yes that is very important. Blu3 gives an online class that is pretty extensive and explains all of the precautions associated with diving.
      They have just released a new system that allows a diver to go down to 20 feet. I believe this one is a great unit as well.

    I'm curious about how the nomad handles in choppy water. Without any flotation ring around it I just can't see it being very stable in choppier ocean waters

      @southernrelics  Рік тому

      That’s a great question. Where I used it, I was in the lake with calmer water. Right now the Nomad is under a voluntary recall. I would wait till the replacement parts get installed on the new units.

      @@southernrelics I believe the nomad recall ended just this week as you can buy them again in store.

    Will it be a good idea to use ear plugs at 14 to 16 foot also? Or not necessary. Thax

    • @southernrelics
      @southernrelics  Рік тому

      Because of the pressure, it’s recommended to not wear any ear plugs when diving.

      Thanks for watching. It was in the 70’s. Very comfortable. I would have stayed in the water longer, but his tanks were low and so we finished it up.
