Don’t care what the haters say. This is a scorcher. Unreal arrangement. Vocals are so good. Backing vocals. Musicianship is off the charts from the band.

Nope. Sorry. No musician ever would agree with you.
This is a bone headed, simple tune that is no different than a million other pop songs. Pure drivel.

Point is, that song was and still is a masterpiece. It stood the test of time and still rocks 34 yaaaarZzzz later 😳

    She looks like Monroe
    It's a good impersonation
    From start to finish
    It's her better side
    Head over heels
Yes, he feels a strange sensation
    Excedrin Headache #65
    That's the trouble with love
    That's the trouble with war
You never get what you came for
    Stand up, stand up
    The more you do it
    The less you fall down
    Stand up, stand up
Put your head in the clouds
And your feet on the ground
    Stand up, stand up
For the time of your life
    You turn it up loud
    Stand up, stan up
    What kind of fashion
    Is this flash infatuation
    Is all this admiration mutual
    Need no lessons
    In emotiona starvation
    Tat look in her eyes
Is too good to be true...
So now you got a good reason
Yeah, but you just gorra learn
It's what makes the world turn
    Stand up, stand up
    The more you do ti
    The less you fall down
    Stand up, stand up
Put your head in the clouds
And your feet on the ground
    Stand yp, stand up
For the time of your life
    You turn it up loud
    And stand up stand up

News Flash: Dave wasn't trying to resurrect a New VH in his solo stuff. He had so many great players with him over 5 albums, all dying to play with 'Roth. Why do you think that is? His solo stuff blew me away, his styles were so diverse, it took more skilled players to work with him.
So , anyway..today my VH comp. tape for the car is Early Van Halen, DLR Solo Stuff, and A Different Kind of Truth, phenomenal album from 2012. Not ONE Hammy Sagar tune on the plate. Hammy was soft pop filler material, Dave was the real Deal. Raw and in your face. ;-)

Steve Vai is one of rocks best guitarists, was great in Whitesnake & is great in this song. Guess that's why he's a multi-grammy winner!!!!

  • @hamandvaid

Crazy how Dave didn't want keyboards for 1984, then released Skyscraper with keyboards all over the place. Also, Steve's playing is extraordinary here.
    RIP Edward.

    • @thefonzkiss
      @thefonzkiss 3 роки тому +4

He didn’t want keyboards at the risk of Ed not playing guitar and concentrating on keyboards. So it’s a slightly different argument.

  • @Iknowthelaw13
    @Iknowthelaw13 2 роки тому +7

I truly believe Dave makes music with a more genuine point of view than Hagar. He lives it and then sings it, no matter what’s popular at the time or how it will sell. Compare that to Sammy, who’s a businessman. Everything is made according to how “successful” it will be. That’s why he had more number one albums than Dave but none of his music has stuck like Dave’s has. Especially Classic Can Halen. That’s transcendent, culture changing music.

Another fantastic single from this album, by one of my alltime fave bands! I just noticed tho.. in the lyrics 'Stand up! The more you do it.. the less you fall down!' Umm no that makes no sense but hey.. great song either way!

This song reminds me a bit of I'll Wait by Van Halen from the 1984 album.

Videos like these are no longer made in 2021. DLR was and is a hero. He made beautiful music videos with great-looking sexy ladies. These are the type of women that we all want to see in college and the workplace but are non-existent (and if one does exist then she is already married). It's like hands-off! She's taken, and married! I doubt it if these women who appear in this video are Catholic. September 10, 2021, Friday. USA Texas
