I'm an aspiring Business Analyst doing my MBA-X in Business Analytics along with my full-time work. This is super-heplful, Arika. Well curated points, Thanks!
hey arika! I am a senior about to attend my first year of college and not really sure of what I want to major in. Analytics has caught my eye and i do have interest in technology. However, I struggle in math and just wondering if it would be a stumbling block for me or how much math is involved? I also don't have a background in coding. Thanks, hope u see this :D
Hello! Thank you so much for your comment. It’s so great that you’re thinking about this so early in your studies. If you have an interest, I would take a class or two and then decide. Generally, you will need to take some calculus/statistics class in terms of math and a few programming classes. You can definitely go into analytics even if math isn’t your strong suit, you can choose a job such as becoming a Visualization developer etc in the analytics field. If you find out you are not interested, you could pivot to more of the business side of things. How does that sound?
@@ArikaReddy Sounds great! Thank you so much for getting back to me, you genuinely want to help people :D I just commited to my dream college. I got in for management but grew an interest for analytics due to my experience with technology. I also live in New York and it is a very lucrative career here. I will be changing my major to analytics to see if it's for me. Been watching a lot of your vids as well to get a feel for it early on.
I love this for you! I am rooting for you all the way, please let me know if you want any feedback along the way. I am so honored to be a part of your journey. Love New York by the way!
Hey! I've just graduated with my bachelors in Economics BSBA and I've been thinking of doing a masters in Business Analytics. I haven't had any coding experience, I am interested in the field but I'm just worried it would be a lot to take in especially with no experience with the coding programs. Let me know if you've got any tips! Great video!
Hello! I also did not have much coding experience before going for my MSBA. I would recommend you watch any of my non tech to tech videos for some background on my experience. In general, take some technical courses ahead of time with a focus on SQL and Python. Otherwise, it’s just a mindset shift. You got this!
Hi Anubhab! That sounds like an interesting topic but I am not aware of the UK market. If you have any questions about the US market. I’m happy to answer.
1)So you are required to run machine learning models(random forest, ann ,svm etc) on cleaned and prepared data and predict ..right..?( 2) And do you do this end to end yourself..?
Yes! I do it mostly the data work/coding myself but work alongside a team that guides me as needed. My team is highly talented so it’s a great working model for all of us.
Hi Sandro! As an example I studied psychology in undergrad and analytics in my masters program. It does help to have a foundational knowledge of math/programming to build upon. You don't have to be the "best" but having a base level of knowledge would set you up to a land a job where you can continue to grow. However, you can also specialize in being a data visualization developer in tableau or power bi and that wouldn't need as much of a math/programming knowledge.
Got it! If you’re not interested in the data side of things I wouldn’t recommend the MSBA. I would also consider a straight MS in Marketing(some may also be STEM certified)
Hello Arika, thank you so much for sharing! I am wondering what statistics knowledge your job requires and whether calculus, linear algebra is important.

@@ArikaReddy Thank you so much for your response. I have not talked with anyone regarding this course. Can you please say me how the Springfield area is?
Hi Zohaib! Thank you for your question. Data analyst/business analyst/ market research analyst could possibly be interrelated. There is no set way that the industry defines these jobs, it’s important to look at the job description to really figure out what the job encompasses. Generally, I’m talking about the analytics field here involving the use of data to gather insight.
