You should always open the brake fluid tank in the engine bay, when u put on new calipers the level will rise and when pistons are compressed it can rupture the tank
Not sure about that, my '06 Aero 2.8 conv. has the smaller non vented rotors. This I found from the door sticker 'BA' designation indicates 278mm. Non-vented. I guess it depends on the manufacturer date. Mine happened to be built Oct. 2015
Notice how easy you got the disc back on even though you didn’t remove the caliper carrier and how easy the caliper slid over the pads after replacement? That’s because the disc is the wrong thickness for your arc. Caliper should just slightly fit over the new pads and disc when everything is new
I have an 04 saab 9 3 the title doesnt say but its a linear. I was sold the wrong rotors. I didnt re install that screw. Mine stripped so i drilled them out.

Auto Autopsy the vented discs are thicker than the non vented, so when the brake pads reaches their min thickness the piston may not have enough meat to hold it in place and may pop out

The thing is that when the pads are at the end of life and the piston may be about 8 - 12mm further out then with vented discs. that may do it a bit tricky to get back when replacing new ones. the piston it self will not pop out and the pad is not it self small enouph to fall out when its end of life. I have it my self on my Saab 9-3 SC and its no bigger problem. the only thing is that vented brakes matches the engine

Hey auto autopsy, I’m 17 and I have a 2005 saab 9-3 and for some reason it doesn’t start, there’s not check engine light on or anything like that... the fuel pump doesn’t turn on even after I replaced it last week. It was working fine one day then the next day it just stopped turning on, I live in Wisconsin and there’s nobody else I could think of and you were the first so if you have any ideas can you let me know? Thank you
Fuel pump use is good, we replaced the fuel pump and it still doesn’t turn on when I start the car🤦🏻♂️Idk what to do anymore and the fuel pump was after market so maybe that’s the issue but I’ma check in on it

Nice vid BUT.......... Those solid discs are smaller and thinner than the old vented discs you took off. Thats going to give you two issues. 1 - the pads will extend over the edge of the discs - not good. 2 - when the pads wear down the outer one could very well slip through the gap between the carrier an the disc - very dangerous. You should change the caliper and the carrier's or just put venteds on.
I wanted to change my rear discs and pads for 2003 9-3 2.0t Aero SAAB. I bought 292mm x19.9 mm vented discs (the same type what was used before) but i can't put in brake pads(16mm thickness) in caliper - they doesn't fit in. Total thickness of disc and pads are ~52mm, but the gap in caliper is around 48mm. Can anyone tell what should I do?

But i discovered that it’s not possible on models with smaller brakes, as on my linear. And the bracket bolts were on really thight😑

Looks like a solid disc? Those are for linears, with weakest brakes.
You should have a 292 mm brake disc.

I've always found the lack of dust boots odd on Saab 9-3 calipers. It's so annoying cuz the grease washes off after about 3 days

You put on the wrong rotor in the back for the aero. You got the standard and smaller 2.0 (278mm non vented disc) but the Aero takes 292 vented rears.
this car wasn't an aero which is why i thought it initially has 278's; lesson learned. i quickly replaced it with the right rotors

Then remove the caliper bracket if that’s the case. It should just be two bolts

He should be using the 292mm rotor. That’s what the Aero uses.
I assumed mine had the 278 and non-vented, but see what you guys are saying, thanks for alerting me to it

Your door panel should give you a code for the brakes. If you don't have the bigger caliper on the front, it's not 314mm

Check your fuel pump fuse. Fuse is located in the little box in front of the battery. Should be 20 amp fuse in the number 2 slot.
Also hopefully you used an OEM Saab fuel pump? Aftermarket does not last on these cars!
