The Matt Halpern Signature Double Down Crash-Ride is a versatile and dynamic, hand-hammered cymbal which fully functions as both a ride and crash when needed. Plus, it features a powerful and cutting bell to punch through a full band mix. Because this cymbal opens so easily, it is a fantastic choice for crash-riding and big single crash accents. The combination of the dark, unlathed top and lathed bottom creates a unique blend of sustain and control. Additionally, some light sandblasting on top reduces the overtones for a decay that quickly gets out of the way.

I'm so happy people like Matt Halpern exist, this is exactly what I've been looking for in a ride cymbal for so long and couldn't find it. the only things that have come close were the 20" brilliant heavy, 22" tradition medium...and literally nothing else from ANYBODY.
Craig Reynolds DownBeat signature ride they were working on was the perfect crash ride with a powerful big bell that he demoed on his channel. Shame it will never see the light of day besides his prototypes.

hoenstly real. meinl only has a couple cymbals that have killer bells, the pure ride and polyphonic ride come to mind. equilibrium ride has a pretty dope bell too

I think my Transition ride has the most powerful bell… more than my polyphonic.

*Congrats, ride sounds glorious! I’m really loving the crash/ride era we are living through. Seems that historically, crash/rides have crapped out by cymbal companies. But the big boy Cos have put their nose to the grindstone and figured it out. Zildjian with their Sweet Ride, Sabian with their Groove Ride, Meinl with their Polyphonic ride. Paiste Multifunction. And now this baby, closer to a crash than a ride, but still ride-able. very very very very very veeeery nice wash on that.*
Matt Halpern is a great dude and an incredible drummer. Love seeing this. And that ride sounds so good!!

I love meinl but but their understanding of what a "cutting bell" is, seems to be really off. It' really a shame because if the bells of this or the Matt Gartska Ride were actually cutting, more like the Zildjian K Sweet ride I own now, I would've bought one no doubt. Quite dissapointing, because there are some meinl cymbals with incredible bells like the Chris Coleman signature ride or the pure alloy rides. Please meinl, step your bell game up a notch with these signature rides, because otherwise they're sounding insane!

Definitely a "Ride-able" Crash, but to my taste I wouldn't describe that bell as cutting. Just my opinion and not my specs or cymbal. Very smooth Crash though.

What is the hi hat setup? Almost looks like a sand blasted hi hat as if the Vintage series had a regular hi hat which would be incredible

It`s just an ordinary dark crash, the rest is inexistent. I guess it`s ok to bash on loud choruses but that`s about everything you can do with it.
