- this Video was shot 6 days after the TSP riot on August 6-7 1988. They tried to revoke the park rental License for the Squat or Rot benefit this day but to no avail the show must go on and on it did Later that night another Riot not as big as the first but more police violence. I think about 7 bands played that day
Wow Man this brings it all back!
I was at the '87 Tompkins protest/show/action over the police abuse that caused the '86 May Day Riots that started this all. There were a few years if anarchist/punk Tompkins actions after this. I was a 16yo runaway from Florida known as Rat.. or Staplehead after a run in with some skins. Hung out with Starchild, Pez, and this dude from Hollywood who looked like Sid Viscous at Anarchist Switchboard or on St Marks. Stayed at C and a few other squats and the 4 of us opened a Squat on 12th at a theater for a little while. Showered at ABC No Rio a few times. Now I'm middle aged! WTF?!?!!
I was a 17 year old run away and was at this show, as well as the one in '87, lived the anarchist switchboard and later at 3BC. Good times.
Didn't make it to NYC till the 90s. I was one of the SF/SF kids called Moonshine. I was at 13th street when it got busted and for the rent riots. I to know all about middle age. I never planned on living this long. Live fast die young done wrong.

I was at the riot and I miss the TSP bandshell. So many great bands played there - Hendrix, the Grateful Dead.....that thing should have been landmarked.
Most of my friends lived through the tsp riots.i got to tsp a yr later.
She didn't do much vocals until later, and even then, if you listen to the Nausea albums, she's not the primary vocalist on many of the tracks they play.

Funny how they didn't appreciate the ''mosh'' for one of the opening bands (Breakdown). It seemed very harmless compared to today's ''mosh''. How things change haha.
