    The latest Logic Pro update adds the long awaited Gain Tool, aka Clip Gain similar to Pro Tools. Proper gain staging is easier than ever.
    How to:
    Change the gain of audio regions in the Tracks area in Logic Pro
    You can edit the gain of audio regions in the Tracks area using the Gain tool. When the Gain tool is selected, placing the pointer over an audio region in the Tracks area shows the gain in decibels (dB), and as a yellow line across the region. You can click and hold the region, and drag up or down to increase or decrease the gain. When the Audio Track Editor is open, you can see the gain change visually reflected in the waveform.
    If you make a marquee selection in the audio region, and then use the Gain tool, the change applies only to the selection, not the entire region.

    Logic has had this feature for 20+ years! This is just a new way to navigate to the same function

      I mentioned that - always was a side feature - yet it's now much easier and done inline with PT.

    Thank you for posting. Much appreciated. Certainly much quicker and more convenient than via the inspector which is what I have been doing in the past. Like the visual display of the gain too. Cheers!

    That works in Logic for ages! Only new is that you can now use a tool instead of the inspector to „clip gain“.

    • @massivebeatzz
      @massivebeatzz  Рік тому +1

      Yes, as mentioned in video. Clip adjust has been possible, but a pretty backwards workflow. IN line with PT clip gain, it's much faster now. Also, visual feedback. Before, there was none.

    Great video. I had been using the gain plugin and automating that but this is an easier solution that's kind of "industry standard"

    • @massivebeatzz
      @massivebeatzz  Рік тому +1

      yes! And since we are pre-effects with that, it also behaves differently and we can be a bit more surgical ratehr than just automating the fader, post-effects.

    They really didn't add region gain automation? This is so sad. So it's not really PT style "clip gain". :(

    Nice, dude I called an harassed apple support about it and sent in a ticket. You could do it previously in inspector but it was super inconvenient and cumbersome.

      You're the one to praise for this then! Nice work dude, hah! And yes, the inspector - what a hassle.

    can you please make more turotials on how to get logic to act like pro tools similar to this one? i really want to know how to split an audio clip at the cursor instead of the playhead. pro tools made splitting clips so easy..

    • @massivebeatzz
      @massivebeatzz  4 місяці тому

      I feel ya! This sounds like a good idea. IN the meantime, go ahead and press "T" (for tools) followed by "I" for Scissors. You can now chop things up like a drunk Samurai! To return to cursor, press T and then T again.

    i won't be excited about any Logic update until they flip the freaking piano in the piano roll so its not sideways and I have to crane my neck to view the notes, absolutely mental that its been this way for so long

    • @massivebeatzz
      @massivebeatzz  Рік тому

      Yes almost all Daws have it that way - but you have a great idea!! I like it. Before my neck wasn't bothering me, but now that you said it, I cant forget that. :)

      ha this is actually so true but also i dont mind flopping my head like a fucking dog i dunno maybe im used to it or maybe i think it would just be more horrible for the beats to go vertical than the notes?

    • @tronam
      @tronam 5 місяців тому

      Human beings have been reading and writing chords vertically with note length and melodic direction on a left to right timeline for hundreds of years. Just like music notation, all DAW piano rolls follow this standard. Even drum machines adhere to this same principle of the passage of time being a horizontal timeline. Is Logic your first experience with depicting music visually?

    Geeez, why they did't make it when you hover on the top of the track just put gain down like in other daws. It would be so much faster then selecting the tool or go to inspector.

    • @massivebeatzz
      @massivebeatzz  Рік тому +1

      wise words! The fastest way for me is to hit "T" to activate the shortcuts menu, and then "G" for clip Gain. so T-G - but still not as fast as hover.

      @@massivebeatzz I have managed to setup key shortcut for "what is last touched in inspector" So I have key shortcut for +-1dB and when I am holding shift it is 0.1dB. There is one downside.

      I have edited the keyboard shortcuts, so when I press g it pulls up the vain toon and when I press v it goes back to the basic marking tool. Best way i have found so far

    Tantos anos para criar a ferramenta e liberam dessa forma amadora. Triste com a Apple! Deveria dar a possibilidade de criar pontos, da mesma forma que fazemos com as automações. Melhor que nada, mas longe do Clip Gain Line moderno do Protools, Live, Studio One e outras DAWs.
