There is more than just a half-finished game. There's the restoration project, which aims to complete it. There's the 2003 project, which aims to reimplement it in a custom version of id Tech 4 with some features of id Tech 5. And we got the various builds of Duke Nukem Critical Mass, with all of their assets.
For me, this version gives me the "It was a great game, a success story but it's old and this is the final game of the franchise" type of vibe. It is a banger and I'll be really really happy if they manage to make this game a complete one.
That was the idea! Instead of catching the past, Duke should have gone out with the bang and 3D Realms should have reinvented themselves. Instead, they were holding on too tight because they thought they were a one-trick pony or maybe they were.

This musical piece right here is the most perfect awesome track my ears have EVER listened to. It is only to me rivaled by the original score done for Dragonball Z by Bruce Falconer. This theme perfectly personifies the power, confidence, and dominating presence of Duke Nukem. What I love most is that subtle drum beat you can hear in the background. LITERALLY the heartbeat of the 90's beating strong and will last FOREVER!!!
Never would've thought Duke would be coming back this year in this storming and frenetic way. No wonder though, that's been his true essence ever since we knew him.
@@Lugbzurg Not the DS game, but the never released PSP game. It's a completely different game: a third-person shooter that plays out in semi-open levels. @@DevilMaster OH! Thanks! Not sure how I missed this. 2001 has just been overshadowing everything. I don't think there's been this much Duke Nukem hype since 2001 itself.
I think this is the first time grabbag was done with real instruments. And it’s still the best version yet. I’ve been waiting for a high quality release of this since I saw the DNF 1998 trailer. Thank you!
The best Duke theme in my opinion. Love the ambience fx and the synths in the background. Especially the little part at 1:18. So glad we finally have a full quality version of this!!!

My favorite rendition of Grabbag. I'll be honest while I like what they were going for with the 2001 build, especially now with the restoration project. I still would've loved to see the quake build version.
Surprised to hear those additional instruments playing alongside the main ones from 2:30 on, guess they were inaudible because of the lower quality of the tracks the community had before.
