I spot weld with TIG, as do many people. The difference is ..you don’t know what your doing with a different machine. Keep up the good vids, on the topic you know.
I think its excellent for sheet metal on automotive panels .on thicker metals it depends on stress and strength requirements ,very useful process,most people don't understand its for specific purposes only 😉 Great video

I like to see you split screen you video one side show the weld area.. othe view the back side of your weld.. at the same time to see the pentration of your weld ....on 1.2 mm mild sheet metal.
I was wondering how you shield your eyes from the flash as the weld process is in pulses not continuous so a self darkening helmet won't be of use. edit....just saw the dedicated helmet with the cable to synchronise the darkening to the flash.....very clever.......it won't work with any other welding helmet so sales will be sporadic. Edit....it will work with an ordinary auto darkening helmet, you just need a side spot light to illuminate the weld zone to prevent dipping the tungsten.

@@Msweld Always wear it, the amount of UV and IR given off by these machines will penetrate your eyelid easily and damage your retina even if the viable light doesn't bother you too much with eyes closed
The cold weld is great if you need to weld thin stuff together, that's what it's good for. Don't expect to have actual penetration though, so if you need that use normal TIG welds. Like say you want to weld up a hole on a thin stainless steel pot that's only 0.3mm thick? Good luck doing it with traditional TIG. With the spot welding, you can do it. But anything thick the "cold weld" is useless. Good for tacking, but you will need to go back over it with traditional TIG to have penetration. Maybe see if you can spot weld 18650 batteries... I know some people like to see some cute Chinese girl welding, but maybe wear some PPE... like seriously. China doesn't exactly have a lot of women you know...
The more I watch these cold weld videos the more I want to get one.

Aliexpress, ebay, whatever. They work pretty well too and don't cost an arm and a leg.

You have to protect ALL your skin from dangerous uv also
