Fantastic Video!!!!! Thank you very much for the shout out. I have been a huge Guyver fan for a long time. I feel the story is amazing and tragic. It's crazy how the Guyver series has not gotten enough love and publicity. It took an arm, a leg, and a soul to collect the Bio Fighter Collection. It was an absolutely must to collect figures from the greatest Toku series ever. I think the Guyver items you have are super valuable, I glad you have them and cherish them. Wow I can't believe someone loves guyver as much as I do. This is amazing
Guyver has also been part of me growing up, and I started it in the wrong media with the 1st live action movie. I loved that film since I was in the phase were horror movies were starting to appeal to me instead of scaring me. Then I went to a comic book shop and I saw the Dark Horse comics U.S. publishing of the Bio Booster Armor Guyver Manga, and also the first OVA and Anime series. I was able to get that the Manga began everything and that the 1st movie was wrong, but I loved it still. Then the oh so well sequel to live action movie came up and it was pure gold, an in between a low budget movie and an actual good and respectful to the source material movie. Then the 2005-06 new series that went further than the original film, being more close to the Manga, and just tonight, I found out that the years long hiatus of the Manga has stopped and recently uploaded in August 2022 I read up to Chapter 195.
I wish that Guyver has a resurrection of sorts and perhaps a new reboot film or live action mini series came up to bring up merchandise and make it more available to the general public. It is a story that does against the trope that the good guys always win and that the world stays the same, yet the heroes still try to fight on. Truly a great story and series.

Like you Guyver 2 is my favorite, I liked Guyver before but what really got me to love tokusatsu, kaiju and super sentai. I too have a very modest Guyver collection, most of which is the old models. I do love your channel and will be watching more of your amazing content.

Fantastic video! Glad to see the movies getting some love, despite the flaws they were for so many people, me included, their first introduction to that universe. Also, glad you liked the shirt :D
guyver is one of the best anime characters design wise.
That was a trip down memory lane. I have some of those models and cels too. I remember the viz translation of the manga ended. Then a decade later another US company picked it up. They got a bit further I think than the Viz one but then they went bust. Now it's fantranslated online and still on going but I seldom read now!
They even made a new tv series but didn't get that far before it died. I normally don't like this genre of anime but this was my childhood.

I've never heard of Yuzna being blamed for the production on Guyver 1, and that's a shame to hear. Huge fan of the guy and his work with Stuart Gordon. Super interesting video, makes me wanna get into Guyver myself.

One of my Favorite if not my Favorite anime along with Dbz and Ronin warriors. I used to rent this from Block Buster back when i was 7. I wish they bring it back the LA hero version was the best. They have to finish it.
Actually the pic with The Guyver and the turtle shell drives the point home that Bennett the Sage made on his Anime Abandon review of the first Guyver flick.
Your collection is definitely cooler than mine. I just have both the animes on DvD and the Trading Figure set #02. It's still not a bad set, but it has 9 figures, 3 of which are doubles of other figures in the same set but in a different pose.

Dude I'm 20 years old and I remember when I was 3 I was walking in on my parents about to fuck and I had a guyver vhs and I wanted to watch it bad so my dad put it on and ever since then I've been a huge fan best anime I've seen from the music to the core to the original manga which is the best thing I've ever read

Hope you finally solved the mystery of the third signature. The only Gary's I could find was Gary Dublin who did the English voice for Lisker in the second OVA series and set designer Gary Young with costume designer Gary Yee both on Dark Hero.
So what would you recommend as a good starting point for someone who's never seen any guyver?

@@MONSTROSITIES.Tokusatsu Have you thought about digitizing the script for the public?
@@Reivanhist It would take a lot of time and equipment, neither of which I have at the moment. Been looking into book/document scanners for other projects but they're out of my price range right now. Sometime in the summer, planning on opening up a Patreon (or something similar) so maybe a scanner could be a goal.

I think New Line had more control over the first movie than the director. They wanted a TMNT type of movie instead a Sci-Fi horror movie. We could have got a movie that was like Batman meets Alien.

The Guyver movie was utter mess. Guyver : Dark Hero kills it ....I prefer THAT MOVIE.
I FIND ITS ABOUT TIME THEY SHOULD MAKE ANOTHER GUYVER MOVIE ......technology has improved a lot so its possible to create graphics of transfomations
Totally dig Guyver, especially the original OVA, the movies never went down too well for me though. American tokusatsu lacks that certain Japanese charm, cool video though, just wish the 'background' music wasn't drowning you out.
Do you know of a good place to find the entire OVA series on DvD? Or are there only 12 episodes of the original OVA?
TheBlackKnight1o1 I don't think the original series ever made it to DVD... and unfortunately the series was cut short, and never completed. As far as I know, it's only 12 episodes.

first guyver movie was shit, second guyver movie was THE shit.
fwwaller Well it was certainly a hell of a lot closer to the mark. Still has some serious issues, but the kind that makes you want to see how they improve in the sequel, rather than the sort that makes you want to burn it in fire like the first.
That first guyver movie though, it was insufferably bad, like I grew tired of at about the half way point, I had no idea what it was trying to make me feel most of the time, and I just wanted it to end! Not even the incredible animatronic effects could redeem that turd.
I'm usually a B movie lover, I enjoy all kinds of trash, but I couldn't stand the first movie, the 2nd Guyver has it's problems yeah, but it's beyond entertaining, it's got badass action, a pretty consistent tone(something the first movie NEVER hoped to have) and the same fantastic practical effects as the first movie. The acting and dialogue are pretty bad at parts, but it's a tolerable and subtle variety of bad in my opinion if that makes any sense. Plus if you're a fan of the manga, there's a lot to satisfy if you can get past the fact that it's a sequel to an Americanized horrendous adaptation of said manga. To me it stands head and tails above other craptastic hollywood Manga adaptations like Fist of the North Star, Dragonball Evolution, and the first Guyver.
Both live action films sucked. That said, they absolutely NAILED the Guyver armor in both films.
+DOOMED ! zoanoids were pretty awesome. Lisker still haunts my dreams.
The only good thing that came out of The Guyver movie was Guyver: Dark Hero.
