The Zcraw may be the best soft plastic creature/craw bait ever made. Jig trailer, flipping, plain ol Texas rig, buzzbait trailer, and most importantly on the back of a swing head.
Straight mono is great for surface baits as long as you're not fishing close to any really heavy cover. I was in the boat a couple years ago with a buddy who had 17-20lb mono on both his topwater reels. The largies were holding in shallow flats and bays, like 1-4fow and FULL of thick pads, cabbage, grass, etc. I was throwing a frog and a buzzbait w 50lb sunline FX2, my buddy was throwing a frog and a buzzbait with straight mono and I watched him lose fish for 4 hrs straight. Couldnt get them out of the thick stuff
Thanks G-Man I have a couple of buzz baits that the skirts are getting thin on and I may now just go ahead and rip them off and give that a try up here in southern Illinois since there isn't anything else to do. Stay safe and keep up the good work
Great content G! That is GREAT way to set up your buzz bait! I've been bass fishin for 30+ years, and throwin' a buzzzbait is one of my favorite topwater techniques. In all these years, I haven't once thought about throwin a buzzbait without a skirt, or a trailer hook. WTH have I been thinkin'? I'm a dumbass! Your way looks pretty sweet and I'll definitely be giving it a try...if fishin' ever gets allowed again here in Washington State. Think we are the only state left in the USA that still has banned all fishin' on ANY body of water. You can't even fish by yourself! Our stupid Democratic State sux balls!! Our governor sux balls and I'm pissed off! Anyway, keep up the great work G-MAN! Lookin' forward to more of your vids. You've been a huge inspiration to me and one of my favorite pros since I first saw you fishin' B.A.S.S. Stay safe! Thx! 👊👍
I moved to Florida from WA state just recently. And it's the best choice I've made in my lifetime. Cost me everything I worked for in 15 years. But im.alive in Florida, and have never been so happy fishing. My inner retard has come out fully on my jonbaot trips! Can't get enough of the freedom here.
I thought for a second he was going to say! Quantum 6 to 6 to 1 baitcaster on a KVD Quantum 7'3 Buzzbait rod. He almost slipped up. But caught himself. Thanks, G- Man. Shawn.
I’ve got 50lbs straight braid on my top water rod. Caught many bass / northern pike on it works fine. All about preference I guess, Good video tho 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
The last time I used fluorocarbon was when you were using vicious fluorocarbon, And it made me vicious all the fish I lost..I prefer mono because it's like a snatch strap on a stuck truck, It stretches then slingshots the fish..lol Of course that is why you are a professional fisherman and I build boats for a living...But I do use it when I'm drop shotting.. Great video brother. .
Ok I gotta ask. I know that a 13 fishing envy rod. Since you said MH, I assume it’s the crank-r-chat rod, but need some Confirmation! Love following you and you’re going to get that W soon!!!
Clay Ennis good catch. I think he mentioned on a podcast that he doesn’t have a specific rod sponsor this year, and was trying out several. He has a bunch of Ark stuff, but isn’t exclusive to them at this point iirc.
I would think a floating line, braid or mono... Does fluoro give some advantage or is it just that your're reeling it fast enough that the sinking line doesn't matter? Serious question, inquiring minds want to know!
Andrew Shuford braid works fine. I prefer it. Depends on the angler. I fish a buzzbait slow; so I have no problem on hookups and them getting it. For guys who fish their bait faster; then may want a little more stretch somewhere in their setup. Either with the line or rod.
Depends on the person, rod, etc. Using straight braid, the braid can get tangled in the blade and ruin a good cast. For people who tend to set the hook immediately and don't pause, the braid can jerk the bait away from them, especially if they use too stiff of a rod. Also in clear water the line passes over before the bait and can spook some fish. So running a leader or straight FC can get an extra bite or two.
Damn I am completely different the only similarity is rod length. I throw a buzzbait on my frog rod, 50lb max cuatro, Metanium 8:1, Megabass Jamaica Boa
I’m sure he is trying a 13 envy rod because one of his main sponsors is Rapala and they bought 49% of 13 fishing as a company don’t quote me on the number but this is why you also see guys like Jacob Wheeler with some 13 fishing products because he is sponsored by Rapala also.
If I’m wrong someone correct me but a buzzbait is a top water that sinks when it hits the water, so he’s sponsored by Sunline and it’s their top tier line, right behind FC Sniper.
One Rod Two sinkers probably because fluorocarbon has a lot less stretch compared to mono so that he can get a better hook in the fish compared to if he was fishing mono.
The Zcraw is one of my favorite baits but I can never find the color Gman is using in that tokyo rig video where he is using moon dust and the blue swirl in this one
G, can you give us a tip on how to afford shooter as anything other than a leader ? I don’t know if I made a million a year that I could afford to run shooter on full spools
@@raywillett2157 no its not. Thats a 13 fishing rod. Look at the thumbnail or pause the video. Very clear 13 logo. But yes he did say ark. But that rod isn't ark.

I need a prescription for xanax because of everything being shutdown. I'm starting to get cabin fever between the weather and COVID in northern Alabama.
Use mono then lol. If you think about it the fluoro is slightly less visible so it may result in extra bites. They can see the line. Bluegill always try and bite the line where it meets the water. And ive heard they can see better as they age cause their eyes keep growing
I could listen to G man all day! Straight up figured his stuff out. Thx for sharing the juice!

Thanks for the tip on the Z Craw trailer. Now I have another way to present my favorite soft plastic bait.
G-man thanks for the tip. I will definitely try this method. Didn't know flourocarbon was an option for top water.
Love me some '' G Man ''... informative, interesting and entertaining !
Had alot of success on topwater with 20 lb Sunline Natural Mono for years. Has a smaller diameter and casts great.

Mono for me all the way . Gives me just a bit of time for my instant snap on seeing a blow up with the little bit of stretch .
Flourocarbon sinks, was surprised he used in on topwater
Always with the mono on buzzbaits/spinnerbaits. Why use fluoro if you don't like braid.
I guess I am not the only one fishing a buzzbait on flouro.
Great video
For me I like the braid better , just need to down size to medium action rod .

Why would opt for the flouro line instead of mono , perhaps the low stretch of flouro
No messin around G.

What happens if I put a 3/16 oz weight on the buzzbait?
It'll be lighter but then go with a 3/8 blade,
So what’s your current jig set-up?
Would it still be effective if you set the hook up for weedless

Shooter from sunline comes in a fluoro carbon and in "defier" which is a mono he didn't specify which one he was using.

Why do fish miss the toad but not the Z Craw? Serious question.
Just a guess but there is too much volume on the body of the Toad. Hurts your hookup chances

Looks like your rod caught that Covid-13. How the hell did that get in your boat?
How did you up size the wire to get more squeak? Best buzzbaits I've ever used would sqeak like mad!
You'd have to pour your own
Fluorocarbon on top water G?
He cranks with braid too.... lol

I cannot throw a buzz bait without a trailer hook, most of the fish I catch just barely get the trailer hook🤣

Where’d you get that hat? I can only find them that have Phoenix across the whole front not offset like yours
